Thinking Of You

Good Sunday morning all!  I started by cutting the Canadian Background out of milk card.  I left a wide border around it and added some paper piercing to it. Next I used the inner shape from the Porto die to cut an aperture in the centre of the background before putting mounting foam on the back to raise it for dimension.  I cut two of the Elegant Lace Edgers and added them into the sides of the aperture for a little extra detail.  I selected Duck Egg blue card and backed it so that the blue showed through the cut out areas in the Canadian Background.  I added 3mm cream flatback pearls to the centres of all the decorative squares in the background.  I cut two thin frames using the inner shapes from the Portuguese collection, one in milk and one in duck egg blue.  I added some thin pieces of mounting foam and raised the frame up and placed it around the opening of the aperture.  Next I stamped Phill Martin's Decadent Damask Occasion Sayings in black on milk card and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I coated it with Diamond Snow for extra shimmer, then mounted behind my centre framed aperture.  I made two felt flowers using the Diagonal Foldover Flower die set and seated them on a piece of cream tulle.  I added Splendid Swirls and Mosaic Leaves around the flowers as accents.  I completed the card with more paper piercing of a milk card mat, a thin duck egg blue mat and one more milk mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8 3/4" in size.

  5. Hi Sue. I think this is my favourite background (so far) and I love how you've cut the aperture and framed it.
Had fabulous news yesterday - the pathology on the ovarian tumour I had removed a couple of weeks ago has come back all clear so whilst I'm still feeling rough from the surgery the relief is immense.

  7. Sunday smiles to you Sue. Just catching up with yesterday's shows whilst waiting for 4 paws and husby to gain consciousness again so I can get the bedding done and on the line before we start getting sorted for the craft/farmers market, it's been ages since we've seen you demo the shaving foam technique in fact I bought the container and foam when I first saw you do it and it's still un-used , that has to be at least 2 years ago so you have given me a kick up the boutie to get playing lol.
I just love this morning's treat, and the Canadian background has come out to play again which is so pretty.
Still have a few shows left to watch, but that will be my treat for when I get back later today, rest my painful body with you and a hot coffee as my prescription lol.
I will leave you with love and hugs for the day and hope it's a lovely one for you, and my dear special friends here and on our special FB page.
Congrats to all winners. Enjoy your treat.

I love today's card using one of my favourite background die and flower die. Yesterday's shows were fabulous and full of excellent demos. I particularly liked the demo using tissue paper (did the cosmic shimmer PVA glue work?). That was a brilliant idea making separate holly berries I'm definitely going to try that.

First I hope you managed to get a relaxing evening after your marathon yesterday. I have recorded all your shows so will be having a 'Sue Feast' over the next few days.

Now today's gift. I've loved this background die from the first minute I saw it as it so reminds me of quilting and it will stand whatever we want to do to it.
So this Beautiful Sunday morning gift is just exquisite from start to finish.

I have stored it away in my 'must do' box but I really don't think it will be staying in there for very long. No Winter sleep for this gift.

Congratulations to this week's luck winners.

We have a proper Autumn morning here at the moment dry but very misty and quite chilly too.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

You are an inspiration & I never tire of watching your videos, learn something new each time.
Do you think you could tell us the approximate size of the card you start with, before you cover it with double sided adhesive &/or cut it down to fit the shape you are using? This would save a lot of frustration on my part as I am rotten at guessing!
    Thanks so much.Pat

  100. Greeting Sue & WW!

I've been playing catch up on the posts. The video yesterday was so informative and the card a delight! When it was first released, I didn't think I NEEDED the dove of peace set. I'm starting to question my priorities! Today's card is also a lovely treat! The Canadian background has been on my wish list (along with all the other sets in the Canadian series)...this card is just more proof of how much I need it!
I couldn't watch any Hochanda due to the time difference and my busy weekend, but really hope to catch re-airings. I wish I could record them as I like to watch them more than once.
Maria, I've heard people say we are also supposed to have an extremely cold winter. I never believe it until I see it or feel it myself tho! Theresa, we do get some rain here, it's hard to come up with an average because some years we are in draught, others, we get so much there is flooding. We get the most in spring & summer. This year has been a nice balance. Jan in Long Island Jan - I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Colorado. I haven't been to La Junta, but I've been to Colorado Springs where the big Air Force academy is - probably where your brother was stationed? It has surely changed since you visited (by that I mean a lot more people) but It's beautiful down there. I do feel blessed to live here. The mountains especially thrill me. Been here all my life but just last month got to see my first moose (other than in a zoo)! Saw 3 actually!
I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who is "clutter-challenged" when it comes to crafty space (ok, for me it's not just crafty space, it's any flat surface space). I have grand intentions of cleaning up & sorting. I do like to organize, just can't seem to find enough time to get & stay on top if it. Maureen, your acrobatic skills would come in handy in my craft room! Now that you point it out tho...I could double my space if I could start stacking things on the ceiling! Theresa, let me know if you find that item # for more crafting time! Sign me up!
Melody & Molly - words can't express my sorrow for all you are going through. I know you have your own health issues to deal with as well Melody. I'm thankful Milly seems on the mend after her operation - a ray of sunshine in this dark storm. Warm thoughts and prayers coming your way. I hope this blog can be an outlet for you - for whatever you need it to be.
Congrats to the comment winners, how exciting for you! I'm glad to hear of the good news for some.To those of you under the weather for one reason or another, sending hugs and looking forward to you feeling better. I'm nodding off again- best b going night night! Rebecca in Colorado

Looked at end of yesterday's posts and read Melody's - Melody I am so very sad for you! No wonder you can't sleep. Wish I could do more but what I can do I will. I will pray for each and every one of you , especially your husband, yourself and our little Molly. How hard it is when we are grown up but very hard for a child! Sending loving thoughts and hugs your way. Try to sleep even if it's at a silly time. Xxxxxx

  111. Love the card today. The Canadian background is one of my favourites. The flower die too is just incredible giving such an unusual finish. Really appreciate how you re-use dies from earlier collections. It really inspires us on how to get the most out of our dies and proves what good value for money they are. Thanks yet again for the inspiration.

Enjoying your shows on Hochanda, but have to watch on my tablet or laptop as they are not broadcast on Virgin Media, most annoying!

  116. Helloooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! This is soooooo pretty Sue. I love the Canadian background and love the "pop" of Duck Egg blue. Beautiful! Loved watching you last night, brilliant techniques and the gilding flake card turned out wonderfully with the missing snowflakes from underneath! It was lovely seeing the demonstrations and I know that the Shaving foam technique is at the top of your blog.....ooooo....I'm pretty sure (and hope!) that you'll be resting today after your long marathon! Sending love and hugs to you Sue, your mom and family xx sending love and hugs to all our Wilsonettes who are in need of some too xx Especially for Molly, Melody and family xx So so sad that with this disease it is swings and roundabouts x A friend told me that herself and two of her sisters had cancer and she was the only one to survive it. Myself, I was the only one out of 20 women, who turned up for their results, to be sent down to the bottom of the corridor. Seeing their smiles as they came out was fantastic to me. I was so chuffed for them, honestly, I was and thought, well, sock it to me and I'll go from there...... My heartfelt prayers sent to you all xx and CraftySue so so pleased that you have been given the all clear! Live each day to the hilt! Enjoy every minute of every day! xx Take care everyone xx Love Karen xx

  124. Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Well, this is by far my favourite background die, it doesn't matter how it is utilised the effects are truly stunning, so it's a no brainier for me , I love today's card! I toyed with using this design for one of my dreaded male cards, but decided on another with the same background die and I have been really pleased with the results. It is so detailed that it needs a few runs through the GC but it is so worth the gaff of poking the bits out for 20 minutes- thank god for my cordless, handheld Dyson cos the mess is more than I can comfortably cope with:-) Being OCD and a crafter is an uneasy mix, I spend half my time creating a mess and half my time tidying it up again!....so much for having a craftroom to shut the door on the mess:-) besides, leaving anything lying is a recipe for disaster with Brodie around, yesterday he spied a smoothie and claimed it as his own to play football with and carry around the house in his mouth...suffice to say that it has now disappeared and I've had to appease him with another one! Dante, my previous cat, used to run around the house growling with an artists sponge in his mouth too:-)
I'm having a semi relaxing afternoon after a spot of ironing, planning to watch my recordings of Sues shows whist the tv is all mine- my mum is out with my nephew and niece so peace reigns:-) The demos have been fantastic so far, just sad that I couldn't buy anything, having severe withdrawals and feel a splurge coming on the horizon.
I've been checking transport connections to The Kettering area so that I can go to Ally Pally in April, didn't realise how difficult it would be to get there, 4or 5 changes and 7 hrs on the train so it's worrying me somewhat- didn't realise how remote Stirling can be in relation to the midlands:-( I hope that I can still go....
Yvonne, heard your name on Sues show last night and what a chuckle I had when Alex said that she couldn't read part of it out, what on earth did you say you little minx? I see that you truly are teachers pet, white chocolate fudge!??! To curry favour and extract preferential treatment is genius ,you are one step ahead of me, I can't compete with that, I'm afraid, at the moment! I'll have to see if Sue takes the bait and you get a card in recognition of your status because emotional blackmail, pleading and tears don't seem to work:-(
I feel totally Strictlyfied, thank goodness for Sky+ otherwise it would have been a tears before bedtime if I'd missed Sue- unlike Yvonne, I can't resist the peachy bottoms of the male dancers and the new one called Gleb is sex on a stick! Can't wait to see them live in Feb.
Congrats CraftySue on your results, what a load off your mind:-)
Melody, my heart breaks for you, I hope that you can garner some comfort from our love and support, try and get a bit of sleep thoughxxx
    Better go, Sue calls...

    Crafty hugs

  127. Hello Sue! I really, really, really LOVE this card. The Canadian background is one of my favorites, and how creative to cut and fill an aperture in it, stunning. Sue this is a very clever card. I love the way you have used the Canadian background with the others, it looks at first like it is a special die cut to make it, but 'no' just clever Sue again. Beautiful, fabulous and gorgeous - enough about you - the card is lovely as well!!
I love the Canadian background. Don't have it yet but it is one of the dies at the top of my got to have list. Mind you there are quite a few at the top of that list.
With just a little touch of the duck egg this card perfect. I really do like blue and have to be careful not to use blue all the time but I struggle.
Well done to the lucky Weekly Comment Game winners.
Melody - at times like this it is very difficult to find the right words. You know that we are all thinking of you and sending you and your family all our love x
Theresa - you'll need to ask Sue for a bit of fudge but I am warning you that I think it may be easier to get blood out of a stone x
Lorraine - sounds like a bit of a trek to get to Ally Pally. Living in the middle of nowhere is all very well until something important like Ally Pally seems to be out of reach. I know that I would not be able to manage that journey so you need to do what is best. Much as it would be fantastic if you could make it there really is no point in overdoing it - even if I am worth it!!
I got a shock when I heard my name. There was no bad language or anything rude in the content of my e mail. It just congratulated Alex on keeping Sue out of mischief and at the end it said lots love from Sue's favourite Wilsonette - not quite sure what the issue was. It was nutty vanilla fudge coated in white chocolate. Have to say it is probably the sweetest thing I have ever made but Sue had said she had an exceptionally sweet tooth. Obviously she wasn't joking.
All I can say about the fact that you watched Strictly instead of Sue shows me that you are obviously not such a fan as you claim to be. As a true fan I made sure that Sue would have my undivided attention - and that is why I am her favourite x
Must away and prepare for Downton. Do love a bit of old fashioned drama.
    Take care everyone
