Christmas Double Day

Hello crafters!  Happy double Christmas day again.  First up is a navy and white card that utilises my Noble Designs.  I started by cutting an aperture with the Ornate Pierced Noble die out of French Navy blue card.  I used the Classic Adorned Design Noble to cut another smaller aperture out of coconut white card.  I glued them together then added mounting foam to raise the for dimension.  I cut the Classic Adorned Design Noble out of coconut white card, using the inside die from the Lavish Accented Design Noble with it and recessed it down into the raised aperture that I created.  I backed it with another piece of French Navy so it showed off the decorative insert area of the die cut.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the oval in the Classic Adorned Rectangles die and inked it with Stormy Sky ink before removing it.  I mounted it with foam in the centre.  Using the Classic Poinsettia, I created three different sized poinsettias out of coconut white card.  I ran a thin line of dries clear clear glue around the edges of each of them, then added Iced Snow and allowed the to dry before assembling the flowers.  I seated the largest one on white tulle and blue Bakers Twine and placed the smaller two flowers in the opposite corner.  I added a few bits of Star Spray as accents.  Finally I completed the card with a white pierced mat layer, a thin blue mat and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two shows off one of the new Stamps To Die For very nicely! First off, I cut a Granada die from the Spanish Collection out of coconut white card to use as a backdrop.  I added it to a larger piece of coconut white card and tied a red frilly edge ribbon around the bottom of it, adding a bow to the centre of the ribbon.  I topped it with a white crystal sparkler.  Next I stamped the Poinsettia Medallion stamp (drawn by John Lockwood) in black.  I coloured it with distress markers, then covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet and die cut the shape using the Debossed Snowflake die outer and inner cutting shape.  I peeled the backing paper off and coated it with clear micro beads.  I added mounting foam to the back of the frame and placed it in the centre of my Granada die cut.  I covered a piece of coconut white card with a sticky adhesive sheet and die cut it using just the centre oval die.  I covered it with Diamond Sprinkles and glued it into the recessed area of the frame.  I cut the Joy die from the Christmas Angel, once in white and once in black and offset them for a shadow and glued it into the centre of the frame.  I completed the card with my usual piercing and another thin red mat and white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8" in size.  Are the double days putting you in the mood to start on your Christmas cards yet? LOL    All for now, Sue x

  12. Hi Sue.
2 stunning cards today and both stand out in their own way. I just love the french navy blue card its so rich and love using it on my cards, but the way the pointsettia's stand out all proud, well it has to be my favourite. But the red also stands out, the colouring of the stamp and the large red ribbon would well and truely leave all other shop bought cards we receive in the background.
Thank you for the early festive inspiration but if I were even to get my festive dies out of their home my poor hubby would have palpatations lol.
Have a wonderful day Sue whatever your plans.
Hugs to you and my dear special friends.

    Morning Sue
Friday's seem to come round very quickly and we are nearing the end of August - where has this year gone?

Today's double gift is so beautiful and I have to say that I just cannot choose between the two. The colours of No.2 are more in my line but the blue certainly make me think outside my box. You have definitely given me something to think about today.

Well as it's Friday it means Market Day and as everything is back to 'normal' here it's also Pastries for afters tonight.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  23. GM Sue. Like them both but the blue one just pips it for me. In a couple of weeks we have my local show so I've been working on craft projects for that which are not cards. I finished those yesterday so I am in card making mode today but not C cards just yet! It's going to be very warm and humid here today and at the weekend and the hot sunny weather just doesn't do my ccard mojo any good whatsoever! So its a pearl wedding anniversary card using your carribean background die for a friend and some birthday cards that are on my agenda.

Sue both your cards are stunning, who wouldn't want to receive these beauties at Christmas, both so different & yet so elegant...as I do not have the poinsettia stamp I was thinking that maybe I could use gilding flakes it could give a good effect, what do you think? Thank you for sharing your amazing talents Sue they are well appreciated.

ANONYMOUS....sadly you wrote last night that I had written a page full of nonsense...yes I am a grown woman but I am also a good person who doesn't like to upset or offend anyone so with that in mind I would like to convey my sincere apologies to you for whatever it is that has led to your comment...

If it is to do with the fact that I have abbreviated my writing, I apologise but that is because there are a limited number of characters (understandably so) & as I didn't want to leave out any of the comments...especially to those who are going through a poorly patch at the moment...I abbreviated...after all I'm sure a lot of us do it when we text family & friends...I know I do...

I'll keep it short & sweet but just to let you all know that my tooth is a little better today & I hope the same for all of our Wilsonette friends who are feeling under the weather.

Wishing you all a good day...(((HUGS))) Beth x

  107. Oh my goodness, I gasped audibly when I saw the first card- it is so beautiful! I REALLY must get all the Noble dies!
If the 2nd card had been shown alone, it's so lovely that I would have been gushing over it as well. The traditional colors, micro beads, stamping and bling are lovely. That said, there is something about the first card that speaks to me.
I so enjoy the blog Sue and am continually amazed at your talent! I'm also very much enjoying the posts when I get a chance to read them. I've noticed there are certain phrases that I'm not familiar with (probably because they aren't typically used in the U. S.) and that is fun for me. Perhaps I'll have to reply directly to the person when I see one and ask if they'll be so kind as to explain it :) I mist broaden my horizons you know!

  112. Both cards are lovely. Though for me the blue and white has the edge. The impact of the contrast between the light and the dark on the eyes makes it really stand out.

On an even better note for me - my prize of the delightful Silent Night dies arrived this morning - Yay!

I hope the new TV channel lives up to its promise and that we will see you and the rest of the CE team teaching us new and exciting techniques and showing products while making sure the basics are also covered.

Love both of todays cards but if I had to pick a favourite then I would go for number 1 but there is not much in it. Thank you for you continuing inspiration and generosity x

Lorraine - nice to be missed - have you had a bath yet? I thought it was the drains I could smell. I had really long hair until about 3 months ago and just struggled with it so took the plunge and had about 8 inches lopped off. It is so liberating. I can now manage it so much better x
Beth - you have no reason to apologise for anything. I am so taken aback by the comment left by someone who hasn't even admitted to their distaste. This blog is a lifeline to some of us who are not always 100%. There are so many days when I am unable to do very much at all as I was diagnosed with CFS in January this year and this blog is very often the highlight of my day. It's like having a good old giggle and chat with close friends. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. I love the banter that takes place between us and think that many others quite enjoy the humour. Please don't upset yourself. Life is short - enjoy it x

I haven't worked out the other card yet, I'll have a cup of tea and look at it again. I only have Valencia from the Spanish collection.

Thanks so much for sharing and have a great weekend.

Beth, I found your post inspiring yesterday, I did seriously consider writing out a post phonetically in the Suffolk dialect... then I came to the conclusion that only about 0.1% of blog visitors would understand me!

Speaking of understanding, Rebecca in Colorado- anytime you're unsure of what we talk about I'm happy to help especially as I capable of talking more nonsense than most.

Noticed a few new names recently, welcome to the friendliest blog ever!

Sorry I missed yesterday, so mamy people in and out the house. Think I fell asleep about 10 minutes after Alex left, missed a text from Mr W asking how my day had been. I slept until midday today. Had to comfort baby sister yesterday as she didn't do as well as she wanted. I told her I knew she tried her best and there was other things she'd learnt by being at school like learning to work with other people. She has to retake English and maths. She has learning support at school so I offered to help. I know she can do a different award a college if need be.

Sorry, that's me done. Tired again! Hugs to all and extra if you're struggling with something. Have a lovely Friday afternoon, T x

Firstly I must apologise for not commenting the last few days. I have had my gorgeous 3 little grandchildren staying and I have been so shattered I have not felt up to doing anything once they were all settled for the night. Tomorrow at silly o clock we are leaving the beautiful yorkshire dales and heading back to Germany.
Today's two cards are both equally stunning. If I had to chose I think it would be no.2. John's pointsettia stamp and your colouring of it just gives it the edge for me.

Beth, it saddened me that someone could criticise and upset you. I love reading all the comments. Some make me smile, some make me laugh but all make me feel part of a lovely community of crafters who all have one thing in common and that is our appreciation and gratitude for the daily inspiration which Sue gives us. Please don't let this thoughtlessness spoil your enjoyment of this wonderful blog.
