Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello bloggers!!  Today's offering is a milk and vintage gold card combo.  I started by cutting two of the Lattice and Lace Striplet in milk card.  I backed them both with milk card cut from just the outer cutting die for a tone on tone look.  I added them to the sides of my card with mounting foam.  For the focal piece, I used the Ornate Pierced Design Nobles to create a gold frame.  I added a second thinner frame cut out of milk card and glued it on top.  I used the same Lattice and Lace Striplet die to cut some detail for the background behind the frame.  I cut just the inner decorative die three times out of milk card.  I backed it with Vintage gold card, added the frame over it and trimmed away the excess from the edge of the fame.  I cut a small square of the gold card and turned it for a diamond orientation and added it to the centre of the frame with mounting foam.  I cut two Canadian tags, crisscrossed them and added them to the gold card.  I stamped my sentiment and embossed it in gold and cut it out with the Montreal die oval.  I used the Toronto die oval to add a thin gold mat to it.  I embellished the die cuts with cream flatback pearls before adding my usual pierced mat layer, thin gold mat and another milk mat to finish.  You could certainly add some flowers if you wanted, however, I felt that the detailed dies were enough for this card.  Sometimes, less is more isn't it?  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4"  9" in size.  If you would like to be included in the drawing to win this week's card, just leave me a comment.  The winner of the drawing will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

  20. Morning Sue. WOW Another stunning card. The milk and gold card makes it vintage looking and very elegant. I agree with you that you don't need to put flower's on this one as it would be to over powering and detract from the beautiful striplet die's which have done all the work creating the focal element's on this very classy card.
Take care everyone and hoping you all have a lovely day.

    Morning Sue
A very classic SW gift today. Once again your wonderful dies are the stars of the show and who needs anything else when you see how your dies perform.
Classic in every way including the old gold which just gives it the 'finishing touch'. I would just love this to come through my letterbox and as usual I've dusted off my space which is just waiting Sue.

Still no rain here in Burgundy. Water restrictions are getting very close. The next Department along with a good few others are already under restrictions. At least the temps have been down to the upper 20s for the last couple of days, so that's a blessing.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  136. Good afternoon Sue and fab Wilsonettes,

This is such a little stunner that I can't believe you would want to part with Sue, but thanks to your generosity one of your loyal followers will benefit-how lovely it would look in a gold frame....on my craftroom wall of course!;-), but seriously, good luck to everyone.
I REALLY want the lattice and lace striplet, it is so versatile, to use it as a border and a background is a touch of genius-I agree that flowers would totally detract from the beauty of this die, however anything that stands still long enough in my craftroom is glittered or microbeaded then embellished with flowers, ribbon and the occasional stickpin. At my craft classes the teacher used to say firmly "step away from the glitter Lorraine!" But to no avail. I have to keep repeating less is more and stick to it, especially when the dies are so beautiful in their own right.
Had another rough night with Darcey, she refused to come home for her supper until 3.30am! It is becoming a weekly occurrence now and I am developing bags to prove it-the little minx has spent all morning snoozing to add insult to injury.
I'm catching up on your you tube demos just now Sue whilst I wait for my hair dye to develop, that's what I call multitasking!
Janet, I am sooo jealous of your gorgeous weather, I just wish it would spread to Scotland-one things for sure I don't think we've had a hosepipe ban since the seventies!:-)
Wishing everyone a lovely day whatever you are doing.

Loads of love and crafty hugs,

    Laine1972xxxxxx

  139. Hi Sue,
Love this card . I truly like that gold color its just right . I ordered most of your Xmas dies waiting for 2 to be back in stock so I can get the rest. I have a die bin set a side just with your dies since I love them so much . Just wishbi had more time to craft. But I am planning to just make a craft day so I can play with your dies.
    Thank you Dorothy

  149. Hi Sue and fellow crafters
this card is stunning, so elegant and vintage looking. I wasn't sure about the lattice and lace striplets when I first saw them, I couldn't get past just cutting them out and plonking them on a card but Sue you have really shown their versatility in this card. I've seen them used in different ways on a few cards now and they are defo on my shopping list, they look gorgeous. This card would be great for a Golden Wedding but a quick swap of gold for silver would be great for Silver Weddings too. Such a clever idea to crisscross the tags too to make a square centrepiece, Sue is there no end to your ingenuity?!

  171. Morning Sue.
    Love the card.
It has me guessing for a wee while. hmmm I play a game with myself with the cards that are made using your dies. I only look at the first image. Then try to work out what dies have been used. This one had me thinking a bit harder then normal. I looked at all the dies cuts you used, then realised you had used a striplet die 2 times for the center, with out the cutting edge. Totally awesome look.
Have you tried it with your new xmas one? The one with the stars? I think that would look out of this world. I would do it but don't have the die. Have to save up for it.
    Sweet dreams.

  172. Good evening Sue,
What a delightful card you have created for us today. The soft gold and milk card look beautiful together. Even though there is quite a lot of detail in this card I like the simplicity of it and I agree it doesn't need any thing extra. I love how you have created the background from your Striplet, so clever. Thank you for the opportunity of winning this beauty.

    Love and hugs for all

Does anyone manage to comment using their mobile phone? I used to be able to when I didn't have broadband but for the last few weeks I haven't been able to get past the robot catcher. It just seems to be in a loop, setting test after test even when I know I've chosen the right pictures.
