Inlaid Butterflies
Hello crafters! A lovely card using the Majestic Monarch die for my focal element. I will show you how easy it is to inlay your die cut elements back into the card to achieve a lovely background.
The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size. All for now, Sue x
Good morning Sue, Oh! Wow! Love, love, love, today's beautiful card. Great colours and use of the Die. I have the Butterfly Die, have not used it like this. Off to watch & learn Have a great day Patricia xxx

Morning Sue Beautiful card. Butterflies are gorgeous. I do love a butterfly card. Please excuse my absence for the last few days. Have been feeling really under the weather and have been unfit for duty! Lots of catching up to do. Crafty hugs Yvonne x
Hi Sue. Beautiful card again. Thanks for the tip you gave re embossing your dies as Ive had many a 'tut' when it's cut through my card when all I've wanted is the embossed pattern, so I will try your tip in future. If only I could peel back the sticky sheet as quickly as you did in the video lol sometimes it takes longer to peel it back than it does to make a CAS card lol... Stupid disabled silly finger's lol. Hoping 'all ok with you' ? Hugs. Lancashire Steph xxx
(Alison if you are able to 'get in' hope you have found the suggested craft store and have made plenty of room in your bag for all the goodies) ; )
Good morning Sue , lovely card and the butterflies are gorgeous . Great video too. Must try this technique, thank you for your wonderful idea 's.Take care Jane B.

Good morning Sue Oh how I love video days! Today's card is stunning! The butterflies are so intricate they are beautiful (don't think I have the courage to cut it up though LOL!). The Smoothies are brilliant to use and leave no 'edges' they are my new favourite crafting tool. Thank you for sharing. Hugs x Heather T

Good morning, Sue, YAY!! This is one that I can actually try as I was lucky enough to win the butterfly die!! I haven't watched the video yet but I can't wait to get it playing! Thanks for sharing this beautiful card with us. x

Another beautiful card today and just love the different way the die has been used- very effective and very gorgeous. Not a butterfly fan, but when I saw this on the launch had to have it and haven't looked back since.
Morning Sue, gorgeous card, love butterflies don't have this die, but have others I could use. Off to watch the video, that you for all your inspiration. Take care, Jess x
Hi Sue - this is a very pretty card and very clever. The video is great to watch and see exactly how it is done. Thank you so much, best wishes YvonneMayxx
Good morning Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes, OOOoo i know a friend that would love this card but i don't have the butterfly die yet Diddles, as she is mad about butterflies and dragonflies as is her sisters. This is such a beautiful card Sue and your new butterfly is exquisite. I have your set of butterflies that are used quite a lot as you have made them to be all different like the real ones of nature and this is one that is on my needed list that just needs to have a win fall to get all that is there. I love the blues that you have used Sue and the fact that you have texturised the background with matching butterflies. The glitter on the background butterflies just gives it that bit of relief work to add interest to the card and with what looks like micro beads under the inset butterflies, the whole thing is just beautiful. Thank you Sue for yet another work of art to inspire us and it's such a rotten miserable day up here at Costa de Glenochil that even my hills are in hiding, not coming out to show their bonny faces. I have the laddies in putting in mum's new windows and what a speed these two laddies work at. They had 5 windows in, finished and away yesterday by 1:20pm, 5hours after pulling up. I have to laugh at the fact that they are putting down dust sheets on bare, auld scabby wooden floor boards, all up the stairs, back kitchen, the lot to protect the floors. Crikey my other half couldn't even put down dust sheets to protect mum's furniture while painting and i was going mad as he sprayed it all with paint and i had to work at it to get it back off again. Eejit says about using sugar soap to get the paint off......on solid oak furniture, i ask you, i really do wonder where his brains are most of the time(well surrounded with padding i reckon). Anyway the laddies will be finished back of lunch time today and then the plasterer comes in to touch up any wee bits that needs it. Just in time for me taking my boy to his photography thing that is on this afternoon, so it is non stop. Anyway i will leave you all with love and crafty hugs to all my wonderful Angels and hope that today is better for you weather wise. Norah (Glenochil)
What a very pretty card. Butterflies are so useful for card making and I know this lovely one can be cut down to make smaller butterflies too - very handy!
Oh my! Such a lovely card, I do love butterflies! :) Off to make my usual cuppa so I can sit down and enjoy watching the video. Thanks Sue. Paula x (WelshPaula)
Good morning Sue, a great technique I haven´t seen before... The inlaid butterflies background looks fantastic. I have to keep this in mind... Rolf xxx
Hi Sue, What an uplifting card! It really brought a smile to my face this morning! I, too, love butterflies and this one is a beauty! I've used it such a lot. Love everything you have done with the card and the colours chosen are so lovely too. Thank you , Sue. I will watch the video later as I'm having a busy day today. Anne - glad your iPad up and running again! Missed you. Yvonne G - sorry you have been unwell and out of action but it's lovely to have you back. Maureen - thinking of you today. Do pray everything goes as well as these days can. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Special hugs, xxx Love to all friends on the blog, Take care everyone. Love Myra xxx
I think this is such a beautiful Card. Such a lovely idea and so pretty and sparkly. Thank you so much for this one as with a change of colours you have just shown me my Daughters Birthday Card for next Month.
Top of the morning to you Sue and lovely Wilsonettes,
Today's card is just perfect in my book, I love butterflies-who doesn't - I actually have a discreet tattoo of one and I cannot get enough of them. Unfortunately I don't have this particular beauty, something I clearly have to rectify soon, but I am sure that I can adapt it to a different set. I will really enjoy watching you at work later, it is the highlight of my week to sit with a cuppa, relax and watch a master weave her magic. I really love the textures created by the glitter in the recess and on the focal butterflies, it adds a lovely dimension to an already gorgeous card-I wish I had a droplet of your talent! Have to rush out today for my caci facial but I will really look forward to watching you later on. Have a lovely day everyone, and I hope that the sun is shining wherever you are-I wish the same could be said for damp but bonny Stirling!
Oooooh ooooooh ooooh I'm all excited. I love the butterfly's don't have the die yet but I will get it at some point. It's just beauuuuuutiful love it!!!! Xx
Afternoon everyone Love today's gift Sue. Butterflies always bring smiles to all faces young and old and so lovely to see. Your dies as always achieve the best of best results and therefore achieves the desired effects. Your colour palette today is just perfect.
It's a very lazy afternoon for me as we've been to the monthly market and had a very tiring morning. Bought foam for new cushions for Jim's chair so that's tomorrow sorted making new covers.
To all in pain and suffering I hope your day is getting better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow. Janet x
Hi Due, just goes to show what a beautiful butterfly that is as the detail shows through even my watery eyes. (hay fever) Even though you have only used one die, you have made a super card by using various techniques to show it at its' best. Just love butterflies; but don't most people? Going to watch the video once the drops have dissipated. Hugs xx Pauline A
Hi Sue, love butterflies, love this card. I don't have the beautiful Majestic Butterfly yet but I do have several others, including your magical butterflies, so I will have to have a play with them and come up with my own version using this technique. Great video as usual, you explain things so clearly.
Deb C. - thank you, I was pretty pleased as well :-)
I bought the Smoothies after seeing them used on TV and on the recommendation of others on this blog. They are great! I suggested them to my sister (who is a fairly new crafter) and she loves them also.
Maureen, I know you said you wouldn't be on today but I hope you know that we are all thinking of you and your family at this sad time.
Lovely lovely card. I love the butterfly, she's on my wish list. Lavender is one of my favorite colors too. I haven't tried the inlaid technique yet. I think I might try using my gilding flakes on this one, if I remember (lol) You give us so many wonderful ideas. Gail
Hi Sue What a beautiful card today the butterfly is so beautiful. I gave your other set so may have a play with that one whilst I decide if I really need another one (haha what a silly question!). Can see this being used with snowflakes two for that December event! Take care Love Diane G xxx
Love it, love butterflies! I adore how the inland butterflies have that subtle hit of glitter behind them, a really pretty card for any age group.
Maureen, thinking of you xxx sending lots of hugs xxx
Maria, I do hope you feel well enough to see Julia on Saturday, healing thoughts coming your way xxx
Norah, you did make me grin re where your old mans brains might be. Mr W opposite having been a tradesman for 30 years, H and S crazy, but can I get him to wash the salad veg before sticking it on a plate? No. Hope Rory had a lovely time at his 'photography thing'!
Feel rough as today, flared up and swollen to the nines so a day laid out on the sofa. Haven't been too ill to spend the day spoiling Billy, it's his 6th birthday today! He had a one of those big dog treats that look like a marrow bone, chicken flavour (his favourite) and has been having cuddles galore. Maybe I should start on those marrow chews too, might liven me up a bit!
Best wishes and hugs to all of you, I have lots extra if they're needed!
Hello sue an everyone, wow I love this card an I love butterfly's I don't think nan as got this die I have never seen it before. I am going to be spending the day with her tomorrow so I will find out if we have it. Thank you Molly oxoxox
Hi Sue and lovely Wilsonettes I really love this card, the technique is very clever but easy when you know how so thank you Sue for sharing, the inlaid detail with sparkle underneath is stunning and the colours are gorgeous. I don't have this die but will be looking at my stash to see what else I can use, maybe some flower dies would look good. Yvonne (G) & Wheely Bad, sorry to hear you've both been unwell,I hope you're feeling better soon, sending ((hugs)) (& happy birthday Billy!) Maureen, I hope today has gone as well these kind of days can and not been too difficult for you and your family. My thoughts are with you, praying peace and comfort for you all x Margaret Bowe & Lynda Brundish are you on this blog, sorry to ask but we don't always use our full names and I've seen you both on Pinterest so thought I would ask if you're on here too. It's good to connect. Special hugs to my blog friends and love and blessings to all Deb C xx
Good evening Sue. Enjoyed your video. It was interesting to watch your inlaid technique, must give it a go. Like the overall look of this card but am not a huge butterfly fan. Bet it would look fabulous as well using your new snowflake dies.

Hello Sue and all.
ReplyDeleteI think this is such a beautiful Card. Such a lovely idea and so pretty and sparkly. Thank you so much for this one as with a change of colours you have just shown me my Daughters Birthday Card for next Month.
Best wishes.
Top of the morning to you Sue and lovely Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteToday's card is just perfect in my book, I love butterflies-who doesn't - I actually have a discreet tattoo of one and I cannot get enough of them.
Love and crafty hugs,

It's a very lazy afternoon for me as we've been to the monthly market and had a very tiring morning.
Bought foam for new cushions for Jim's chair so that's tomorrow sorted making new covers.
To all in pain and suffering I hope your day is getting better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi, Sue,
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely card in my favourite colours. And my new folder is on the way! xx
Hugs xx Pauline A
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, love butterflies, love this card. I don't have the beautiful Majestic Butterfly yet but I do have several others, including your magical butterflies, so I will have to have a play with them and come up with my own version using this technique. Great video as usual, you explain things so clearly.
ReplyDeleteDeb C.

Hi Sue. This is a really pretty card. I love this new big butterfly, it make's a real statement on your card and can be used in many way's just like you have shown in your video today. Have picked a nasty cold bug up so have been watching your new christmas video's from the sancuary of my bed and they are fantastic. I was so pleased you did a one on the mother of pearl background with the deer family. It has to be one of my favourite video's and on another one you were wearing a beautiful lime green and black cardigan it was gorgeous and i have to say you are looking fantastic as if you had just come back of a very nice relaxing break. Thank you for some fantastic up and coming christmas video's. I would hate to see your work load as you alway's seem to be on the go.
