Christmas Double Day

Hello bloggers and welcome to the first Christmas double day this year!  Two very different cards, the first one with a sort of frosty feel to it (which we can use in the middle of July! LOL)  I started with the Peeking snowflake and cutting it in the centre of a piece of coconut white card.  I added mounting foam to the back of it  to raise it for dimension.  I stamped my sentiment on another piece of white card and used Aqua Adirondack ink around it, then covered it with a piece of self adhesive sticky sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and coated it with Diamond Sprinkles.  I mounted this in the window of my aperture.  Next I tore a piece of white card to create a hill on the card and coated it with spray adhesive and glittered it as well with Diamond Sprinkles.  I added it with foam at the bottom of the card.  I cut the male deer out of white card and added him to the left on my hill.  Finally I added small glue dots all over the background and drew a bead a glue all the way around the edge on the top of the card and coated it with Iced Snow and allowed it to dry.  A pearl snowflake was added in the upper corner, before finishing with my paper pierced mat, thin aqua mat and final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

An unusual colour combo in it's dusty rose and silver, but very pretty in real life.  I created the background by using the shaving foam technique with Victorian Velvet ink and Brushed Pewter distress Stain (you have to remove the dauber top to get to the liquid ink to use)  Once dry, I covered the piece with a sticky adhesive sheet and used the large oval from the Peeking Snowflake die set to cut an aperture in the centre.  Next I coated the background with micro beads for texture and added mounting foam to the back.  I stamped my sentiment (from Justrite stamps) and embossed it in silver.  I used a light inking of Victorian Velvet around the sentiment before centring it in my aperture window.  I cut a variety of sizes of the Classic Poinsettia out of silver card and added a glue bead around each of the edges before sprinkling them with Iced Snow.  Once dry, I assembled all the flowers and added them to the card.  I seated the largest flower on a seam binding bow.  I cut two Canadian borders in white and glued them to the top and bottom edges of the card.  A white paper pierced mat, a thin silver mat and a final white mat were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8 1/4" in size.  I hope that you have enjoyed the two selections for today.  Have a favourite?  All for now, Sue x

  12. Morning Sue. WOW Forgot it was double day christmas card's today and what away to start the festive double day friday's off with. Both card's are beautiful. The shaving foam technique is a great one for background's as you never get the same one twice, but the reindeer card is my favourite as they look so cute. I took delivery of my new christmas die's yesterday, these were my first favourite's so i had to get these one's first the reindeer's, tree's, the open petal poinsettia and the snow flake background and they are all stunning and cut so well. Now i have to pick some more to order and it's very hard to pick them, but never mind as i will end up buying them all but i don't think the bank manager will be very happy. I will just have to send him a Sue Wilson special christmas card LOL.
Take care everyone and hoping you all have a lovely weekend with some nice weather.
    Best Wishes.

  17. Morning Sue.
I know I said it during launch but Im saying it again, this new festive collection is so beautiful as are your two card's today. It also goes to show that your 'everyday' dies mix so well with your festive collection. I decided to cheer myself up yesterday after your configuation card and adopted the lattice configuration die and its more beautiful than any words I can use to describe it,the only problem I have now is there are so many ways it can be used to show its beauty where do I start. Whilst at my shop I was looking at the festive die collection she has on display and was trying to decide which to invest in first, and now I know thanks to your selection of cards this morning.
    Thank you for yesterday.
    Hugs.

  19. Hi Sue. Two very beautiful but different ways of showing the peeking snowflake die. Love the dusky rose and silver combo of the second card but the classic white/white reindeer card just edges it for me today. It's great how you mix in your everyday dies too, reminding us that they can be used for ANY occasion. Sue XXX

What a lovely surprise I forgot it was a twofer day lol. You've given us two stunning cards to kick off and made it very hard to choose a favourite. But the first one has the edge for me because the deer are my favourite Christmas die EVER! I love the three of them especially the 'baby' deer. The touch of Aqua makes the card pop! I can see that the oval die is going to be very useful. Then there's the second card WOW! That background is to die for, the shaving foam technique gives such an amazing background and no two are the same. A very different colour combination one I wouldn't have thought of but one I must try. The poinsettia's are fabulous in silver and the border looks fantastic.

    Hi Sue,
you must be joking! Favourites?? it's impossible to choose from those lovely cards. They are both very different but each one is superb. I LOVE the background done with the shaving foam, resolved to try my hand at that technique because the results are so beautiful.
You did a similar card to the first one last year or the year before with mica flakes, I copied it and the results were admired by all recipients and commented upon by their visitors.

  97. Hi Sue, I love both cards for different reasons. The first is a traditional white Christmas with all the lovely things we think of as a tracitional card. The se nod I watched the video and loved how it came about, but the colours are not cold enough for me. Ice blue or spruce green would have worked for me. However it is a stunning card in its own right. X Ros

  121. Dear Sue

How lovely both cards are. The frosty one will suit us this week as exceedingly cold weather is predicted for Eastern Australia.

I do, however, prefer the pink one with the poinsettias. The colour is just gorgeous and I think something like it will grace some of my cards this year.

Thanks, as always, for the inspiration.

  126. Hello Sue and all.

How spoilt am I feeling with a two for one. With the first card I'm not getting the aqua, so I have white on white which I love. I really like your layout and I can imagine how lovely the sparkles are.

The background of the second card is stunning. The Canadian borders look so elegant and silver poinsettia's are so pretty. I don't think I could pick a favourite between these cards. Thanks for sharing.

    Best wishes.

Call me a wuss but I am cold today, it could well be Christmas time.
Of your two cards I prefer the Reindeer one and that was a die I added to my list on your launch day.
The Poinsettia is a lovely card and the different colour-way is so nice.

Thank you for sharing so many masterpieces with us.

  130. Morning Sue, I love both cards because the stag is so regal and would be great for cards for 'recycled teenagers'; whereas the poinsettia card with its' modern colours would appeal to younger recipients but I like them both and would love to receive either from anyone. Hugs xx Pauline A

  156. Hi Sue and crafty Wilsonettes
Ooh, 2 cards, Christmas double day is new to me so what a lovely surprise to get 2 cards. I love both these cards for different reasons, I think the 1st is my fave, I love anything frosty and sparkly, with just that hint of colour. I love the peeking snowflake and deer too. However, the difference is slimmer than a gnat's whisker, I love the pink and silver background with microbeads all over it on the 2nd, the colours and the finish are gorgous. Rolfi, there's a video tab at the top of the home page for this technique :-)
Big hugs to all my blog friends and Lynda B, Myra and Saba.
Sincere good wishes to you Maureen for peace and comfort.

  161. Wow, wow, wow! X2! Both so beautiful! As I was looking at the first I thought it was definitely going to be my favorite as I'm partial to deer & snow...then I saw the 2nd one! Oh my-so lovely! So the 2nd one has a slight edge - maybe because I used deer in last year's card & am looking for something a little different. Can't go wrong with either...now if I can just get ahold of some of your Christmas dies - oh what am I saying, I want all of your dies :) I must admit I'm a little jealous I don't have access to all here in the states! I guess it makes the ones I do have all the more precious. Thank you again for your lovely offerings!

  183. Good evening Sue and fab Wilsonettes,

What a surprise! It had slipped my mind about festive Fridays so what a treat to get two little beauties all at once. It's cruel to ask your devoted followers to choose a favourite ....it's like being asked to choose your favourite child, or Sue Wilson die!:-)
They are both equally stunning and totally different in style. The frosty scene with your cute deer really grabbed me, I love the icy beauty and white on white with a splash of aqua, and you can never have too much glitter in life can you? Love the snowflakes, they are a must have for me.
The next gem is really different in style-the shaving foam technique is fab, I'll really need to try it sometime, though the mess will challenge my OCD:-) love the poinsettia dies, they are also a necessity.
Had a really busy day today, caci facial, haircut, shopping and Andy at Wimbledon-feel a bit punch drunk now to be honest. It has been a great day apart from the tennis result and the perpetually dreadful weather in Stirling. I feel sorry for theT in the Park revellers, stuck in a muddy field for three days-maybe I am getting old, but I'd rather watch the men's final on Sunday with a glass of Pimms and a strawberry or three!
Maureen, I am so so sorry for your loss, it must be heartbreaking for you. I hope the kind thoughts of us all help you at this difficult timexxxxxx
Oh, congrats to Sue for reaching the big 5400 mark, it is so well deserved! And, congrats to the lucky winners of the blog candy draw, enjoy your prize and Sues generosity.

  188. My particular take away from your card creations today is the difference in the two glitters used on the first card. The diamond sprinkles and iced snow (hoping I remember that one correctly). Both a white glitter, but subtly different and oh so gorgeous!

Ohh and the microbeads.... (sigh). I have just a scant few of your dies so far, and have just begun to imagine how inventive I can be with them. Watching your different demos has given be great inspiration and I hope to share soon what I have come up with! Thank you for sharing your talents.
