Wednesday Weekly Card GIveaway

Hi crafters!  A black and white beauty for today's giveaway card.  This card was also one of the demos from my last shows (way back when!).  I started by cutting the frame out of the Classic Adorned Squares.  Once cut, I coated the frame with Cosmic Lacquer and spread it all over the frame using my fingers.  I set it aside to dry, them began working on the acetate piece in the centre.  I selected the Lattice mask and taped it to my acetate with removable tape on all four sides.  Using Polar White Sparkle Texture Paste, I pulled it through the mask with a plastic palette knife, removing any excess and returning it to the container.  I carefully removed the mask and set it aside to dry (it takes longer to dry on acetate than it does on card)  Once dry, I attached my frame over the top using mounting foam and trimmed away any excess from below the frame.  I mounted my frame on another piece of white card and matted it with a thin black mat.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Pierced Flags die set, using a slightly larger die cut in black as a mat.  I mounted it across my frame.  Using both the open and complete petal Camellia die sets, I created three black and white flowers and attached them at the end of the sentiment strip.  I seated them on a thin satin ribbon bow.  I cut a couple of the Splendid Swirls and added them around my flowers.  The card was then finished with a white pierced mat layer, a thin black mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.  If you would like to be included in the drawing for this one, just leave me a comment. The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.   All for now, Sue x

I remember watching you demo this card and loved everything about it. So glad to have your fantastic breakdown so I can pinch your idea properly instead of trying to make it by memory.
I would never have dreamed of using the cosmic lacquer to glaze the frame the way you have and had completely forgotten about it until now. Another technique to add to my 'Sue to do' technique list. Have to say it's a very long list.
Not up to crafting at the moment so a lot of catching up to do when feeling better.
Fingers crossed for winning the draw cos I really really really want this card!

  30. Hi Sue and Wilsonettes...hope today finds you all keeping well.

Sue, what an absolutely delicious card. I love everything about it...love the idea of coating the frame with lacquer, as for the mask on Acetate it really gives it a feeling of dimension...what a brilliant idea & definitely something I will have to try. I'm so glad that I managed to obtain your pierced flag set because this really does lift the card in an elegant way. As for the flowers they are really, really stunning and along with the swirls they give a beautiful finished look to the card...thank you deeply Sue for yet again stimulating our card making mojos with fantastic new ideas and of course for sharing your amazing talent with us.

Wheely Bad...I sincerely wish you all the best at the hospital today...hope it helps knowing that so many of us are with you in thought during this time, sending you hugs and smiles x x x

YvonneG...sorry to hear you weren't well yesterday and like me you managed to overcome the Mcaffee risk warning and got to leave a comment, sending you hugs and smiles and hope you are feeling better today. x x x

This question coming from a fairly newbie to this Blog & being a shy person with new people and it will probably sound a bit daft but I noticed that some of you say that you have made some wonderful & best friends through this site...please may I be silly enough to ask how we can do this, how it is possible to get to know other people if the feeling is mutual etc...thank you & apologies for being presumptuous and as I said...daft.

Anyways I wish you all a lovely day, please take care and sending hugs and smiles to you Sue and to your family of Wilsonettes. Love Beth B x x x

I'm still in love with your Noble dies so all in all everything on today's gift is beautiful.

Lovely card. Monochrome is so classy and always lovely in my opinion. The acetate panel reminds me of frosted glass, (I hope you know what I mean) great idea I will have to pinch, lol. Your Camellia flowers are so sweet. Thanks for sharing.

  162. Hi Sue & All The Wilsonettes! I hope you are all well & enjoying good weather, wherever you are? It is a beautiful day here, in Rosemarket (NEAR MILFORD HAVEN)! Unfortunately, I have had to attend the funeral of a family friend, who was 100! Sadly, she died two days after her 100th Birthday! Well Sue, you have made a wonderful card again! I love the monochrome look, as it makes cards look so elegant! I would love to be the recipient of a card like that! Unfortunately, I will have to leave all you lovely ladies (& gents!), as I have to make a sympathy card for my friend, whose Dad passed away, last week! Take care! Love, Mary Blight XXX
