Hi bloggers! I thought I would lighten it up a bit after the two darker cards from the weekend. Back to the Eternal Rings Striplet for the background for today's card. I cut it three times continuously to create the background. Remember that you will need to see the cutting edge inside of the previous cut just slightly or you will have a line going between the three sections (which is fine, but it will give you a completely different look than this.) I left a small border around the edge and this is where I have hidden some mounting foam to raise it for dimension. I also added a few very small pieces at the junctions to keep it from sagging. I placed it over a piece of blush card. I added white flatback pearls to the junctions (how could you not, it just cries out for it, doesn't it? LOL)For the focal element, I cut two of the Dainty Rectangle frame in white and crisscrossed them. I covered a piece of blush card with a sticky adhesive sheet and coated it with Diamond snow. I used the Dainty Oval frame to cut it out, using the inside die as well. I used the rectangular cutting edge to simply emboss the shape in the centre. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the small oval die from the Dainty Oval. I highlighted it with Spun Sugar and mounted it with foam in the centre of the card. I added a white pierced mat, a thin blush mat and another wider white mat to complete the card. The finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size.

good morning to Sue & all Wilsonettes...I'd like to begin by sending you all crafty hugs...due to weather seems like you need one...lol x x x Sue as always I cannot wait to open up to see what gem you have posted for us...and boy what a gem...I managed to obtain the eternal rings striplet and I must say as with all SW dies it never fails to create a stunning effect have even used it on the centre step card I made with my friend before I became poorly. I think the pearls also set off the striplet die aswel Sue & can anyone else see this in colour ways of Sues Periwinkle & Peach foundation card? Glad you posted about Julia as will now off to set the DVD to record...hopefully I will get to go to her workshop here on 28th...so looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteAnyways take care everyone...Love Beth B x x x

Hi Sue. Hope you are having better weather than we are this Monday morning ! They say its weather for ducks, but its really weather for staying indoors (if you can) and craft your heart out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicate pretty girly card you have for us today and in my all time favourite pastel shade, it has to be something ultra special for me to use my stock lol. At last I have this technique down to a fine art - it took its time but I got there eventually lol ! But you can get the same effect with the quilted striplet, it also makes a beautiful background too by over lapping the cutting edge slightly over the previous cut, I find it awkward though due to the pressure and placement of the rollers I try turning it all ways to get a cut but it takes a few passes especially the 2nd cut as it doesn't match up where the rollers are, would be wonderful to have a machine that has an even pressure throughout the machine rather than on each side, that would solve all our crafty cutting problems !
One question for a lovely Wilsonettes - Sue has stopped her sagging by using mounting foam under the channals, apart from using those teeney weeney foam squares, is there anything else on the market that im missing ? Id like to know if there are various widths etc of mounting foam for when you want a border but not a big half inch wide or larger border, can anyone help me with this crafty question please ?
Sending love to you Sue and all that drop in today to see this beautiful delicate work of art.
Love to all.

Pat x
Good morning Sue today's card is gorgeous I do love the background done like this. Have a great day today. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I just love the striplet dies, and have made a card using the quilting block striplet as the background, in similar colours. I must get this striplet die though as it is gorgeous. I've had to go and get another book to store my dies I now have 4 filled mostly with all your dies lol. I like to put the picture of what the die is on one side then use magnetic strips to hold the dies in place on the other side, I' do have to glue a few pages together to give strength to the pages though. It's so much easier than tugging though all the packets and struggling to get the dies out. Just flip to the page/die set you want and off you go, and less likely to lose them as the dies go right back once I'm done with them and not dropped on the floor,
ReplyDeleteHope it's a better day where you are,
Maggie in Solihull
Hi Stephanie...
ReplyDeleteI have some info which I hope will help with your crafty foam pads question.
Sometime ago I managed to obtain 4mm width foam strips(comes in a round reel)I also obtained the clear one too...if I want it thicker then I just add another layer etc...
So sorry I cannot remember where I got them from but I think if you type in Google search(4mm width foam pads uk or 4mm width craft foam pads uk) it should give you quite a few choice of sites...that's what I did when I was searching for this.
Hope this helps please let us know how you get on as it might help others.
Take care Beth B x x x
Good morning Sue
ReplyDeleteYou've given us such a pretty card this morning in lovely soft colours. I love the background using the striplet it's gorgeous. I'm off home today not looking forward to the journey because it's pouring down.
Steph my OH has cut some foam rolls for me in various widths, because I found it difficult to find narrow rolls of foam. I did try silicone but it was too messy for me, I've lost count of the cards I ruined.

To Steph, I buy my mounting foam on a large reel, it is about one and a half inches wide so I can cut whatever width and length I need. It is not made for the craft market especially. I found it on line, I will find the name of the supplier and let you know, if that is OK With Sue. I will check .
A truly beautiful card. Christine

ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty and delicate looking card. The eternal rings Striplet makes a lovely background and the pearls give it that little extra. I have also used pva faux pearls to save on cost and the tiny camellia flower from your camellia die set looks pretty as well.
Steph, I cut my own width from a wider roll using a blade. To stop your blade getting gummed up, keep dipping it in water and shaking off the excess before cutting into the foam.

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteAhhh, a ray of sunshine on a very wet, miserable day. Stunning card.
Very sore in lots of places. Going to try some form of distraction!
Steph, I buy my foam in batches in many sizes and in black and white by mail order from an adhesives company here in Suffolk that do craft and trade. It's not expensive as what you buy in some shops is just that repackaged. I have used the pound shop one too and it's not bad at all- just can't get there hence mail order! Works out about the same per roll. Hope you find what your after x
Hugs to everyone, Alison, will be thinking of you x

I really enjoy using this strip let die it gives such a wonderful background. Your card is so elegant.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. Sorry I have not commented for a while but I have been on holiday. It has also taken me a few days just to recover from it to !! Today's card is just beautiful Sue. I really love it !! The Eternal Rings Striplet Die looks amazing when used across the whole card as a background. I love the colours you have used and I love the Dainty Frames and Rectangle Frames. Together they look so Lacey and detailed and so very pretty. Thank you for today's beautiful card. This is definitely one for me to try !! Thank you also for all the beautiful cards I missed last week (I have just been and caught up with them all.) So much inspiration and such lovely designs and ideas. Sending you lots of love Sue from Tres x x x

Hello Sue
ReplyDeleteLove this card. The colour is so gentle and delicate. The Eternal Rings Striplet looks striking when used as a background.
The Striplets are so versatile and I have used the Eternal rings for both male and female cards and it really gives the wow factor, but then all of your dies do that.
As I'm so late with my comment it's not long to the next post. A cuppa and a sit down whilst watching a genius at work - can't wait!!

A lovely delicate and lacy card in a subtle pastel colour.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I didn't like the flag background on yesterday's card or the black. The flowers were pretty, though.
Congratulations to all the lucky comment winners and the lucky card winner :-)
Hugs and Best Wishes to you all ,
