Portuguese Collection

Welcome back crafters!!  Day three of the Spring die release blog launch.  Today showcases the new Portuguese Collection.  We have the beautiful Porto die (shown here) and the Portuguese Border, corner and tag die set up on offer to win with this blog post.  Shown with the Canadian border, you can see how well the dies from the two collections will work together to give you outstanding results.  Like the Canadian Collection, the Portuguese dies all come with separate cutting edges and decorative inserts.  The centre designs in each shape have been paired up to give you beautiful matting and layering capabilities, while the outside shaped design is quite different.  If you would like the chance to win either of these two dies, just leave me a comment.  While you can (and should) comment on each and every blog post for a chance to win, only one comment per  post is allowed, however.  Duplicate posts will be removed before the drawing takes place (it's only fair that way!)  The next blog post is scheduled for 12 noon, don't be late! LOL  All for now, Sue x

How on earth are you going to better this whole collection beats me. I stood catching flies when I saw them all piled up in the shop yesterday, all ready to be displayed, they are all truely incredible. And for those that dont read any other posts and missed mine yesterday, on the back of each package it gives you a few more bits of inspiration on how to use each die, thank you Sue : )

  43. This is probably a really silly question but here goes. I've noticed that in the UK you make lots of your cards 8 x 8. This is a new size for me here in the USA. It appears in tutorials that there is only the front side of the card with no second piece to open up and write your sentiment on and sign it. Is this correct? If it does have a backside, what size paper do you use for it? 12 x 12 isn't large enough. Do you use two separate pieces of 8 x 8 card and attach them at the fold somehow? I've also noticed this when they do demos on Create and Craft. I really love the 8 x 8 size and want to make some that size, but not sure about this bit. Thanks for any information.

  49. Re the above comment (Micki)- I shall be interested in Sue's or anyone's response as I have often wondered the same. 8 x 8 constitutes a large card to post in the UK and, whereas for some cards you don't mind, it becomes expensive for all. Most of mine need posting, not hand delivery. I know Sue only produces card fronts at demos or workshops ( been on one with her).
These dies are lovely, especially the border.

  60. Micki, Sue does only, usually, make non opening cards but if you want to you can just cut another 8x8 piece but with about an extra 1/2" lip on one end so that you can join the two pieces together. I hope that 1) this makes sense 2) it helps. If not then if you email Sue and she will get back to you with an answer. Take care. Mrs B

Where do I start? The card and dies used are so stunning what a difficult decision for us to make about which set to choose. I cannot choose a favourite because I love them all, I think Sue that this launch is THE BEST. My Noble and Configuration sets arrived from SET yesterday and it's killing me, I can't use them because I've been told not to use my arm and to rest it completely so I can only look at the them lol.

Morning Sue, and all Wilsonettes, another beautiful collection, I would love to win one of these as I know everyone else does, I hope that all these new bloggers who are visiting this week will continue to support your blog, it is the highlight of my day as it is to your regulars, we don't just come on here to win a prize but to see the wonderful creations you make, learn so many techniques and share out experiences with you, it is like our own little family of crafters with you at the helm. OK rant over, what I love about these collections is the lovely names you give them and the meanings of them e.g. the names of the square from the new York collection was a combination of you and your daughter so happy memories there, I wonder why these new ones names came from, haha!!!.

  150. Hi Sue
Another stunning set of dies and you've made another stunning card with them. Sandra won a card from your C & C show. I just fell in love with the Canadian border that was on it, that bought it. Look forward to seeing the 12.00 card. I'm glad you clarified that duplicate comments will be removed.

  166. Very pretty dies Sue. Like these ones.
To the ladies questioning why 8x8 cards, there are lots of us using these dies for all sizes and shapes of cards. Sue makes them to demonstrate the dies and give us inspiration, we take that and put our own spin on it. Look at some of the other blogs, especially from Sue's regular followers. The you will see lots of other sizes and ways of using them, and how thy mix well with other craft items you like to use.
    Cheers

  167. Hi Sue and everyone

Wow, what lovely dies. The card is beautiful too, love the border. Looks like a bit of paper grouting going on too with the bed of roses embossing folder.

I agree about the Portuguese border looking like swag curtains. It reminds me of the arge fancy net curtain/blind that we bought from the sellers of our first house for an extortionate price in the Eighties.

More tough decisions regarding the dies again Sue, definitely spoilt for choice.

  168. Well said Janice Wallace. I use the dies for all sorts of shapes and sizes of card. They do work really well with 8 x 8 cards though, as obviously you have more room to play with! Yet another wonderful card this morning. Loving the new dies!

  171. Oh Sue, how much more gorgeousness can we take? Your dies are so versatile, I spy 3 different sets in this card and they all match beautifully.
I thought Canada was my fave but now I think I'm drifting over to Portugal lol.
Micki - I don't know if it helps but I buy 8x8 card blanks with envelopes and use them as my base layer, if you can get them in the US that might be worth a try.
