A Friend Is Like A Rainbow

Morning all!  I haven't done the Faux Cloisonne technique in ages so I thought I would have a go with this stamped image.  On black card, I stamped the Zentangled Flower Square using a clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed it in gold.  Next I painted the images with mica powders to give it the cloisonne look.  Usually I would cover it in glossy accents, but I decide to leave it as is this time.  I cut it out with the square from the Herald Square die set.  I used the same die and cut an aperture in a piece of vintage gold card.  I used the Art Deco Rose Swirl embossing folder to give the entire background some texture.  I added mounting foam to the back of it to raise it for dimension.  I recessed the painted square down into the centre of it.  I stamped my sentiment and cut a frame from the smaller die in the Madison Square die set to go over it.  I mounted it in a diamond orientation in the centre of my card.  I added a small floral element using the Camellia complete petal die set.  I sugared it with Ebony Ice for a bit of bling and seated it on some thin satin ribbon and black tulle.  Finally. I finished the card with a white pierced mat, then a thin lavender and black mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.

The winner of this week's Wednesday Card giveaway is:

Rosalind McLellan!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card.  All for now, Sue x

Poochies behaved yesterday cuz of course hubby was home so his little princesses could do no wrong. If it wasn't for the fact when he was off with his broken ribs he drove me nuts I'd have him home all the time to deal with my two doggie divas.

Maria - hubby is back at work ( thank goodness)
Anon- thanks for the heads up on the plants. It was the first time poochies had ever touched my azalea, it is now protected from teeth.
Karen- well done on winning the tickets.
Pam - great news about Robbie.
    Steph- take it easy flower.

    1. Lynn. So lovely to see you regularly posting again. As far as your little pooches and eating your flower's (how rude) lol but - and this goes out to ALL dog owners SWEET PEA plants are lethal if your dog is 'curious' enough to go take a taste test ! A dog owner had put a 'Beware' notice in a pet store saying they had lost their dog recently and toxicology results had shown some toxic poison that sweetpea plants have had been the cause of their dog 'getting it's wings'. So as beautiful and as lovely as their perfume is keep your little friends away from them !!
Sorry Sue. As a dog lover yourself Im thinking you wont mind me mentioning this here.

I dont think Im confident enough to try this though, im not very artistic, whenever I try something that should turn out pretty it looks more like a hurricane in a mica factory !!! I can see me in such a mess with mica powder everywhere, and Ebony Ice reminding me I let it loose from its pot for months to come lol but you Sue, are just brilliant, fairycraft mother, you can make anything happen and its always ends up happily ever after lol. Im a disaster site !! Lol.

Ummmm, I have never seen the cloisonne technique on a card before. I would like to see more. Do you have a video on this technique. If not, can you do one? Happy Easter to all.

Thank you for all the congratulations you have sent me. I appreciate them all, especially as today I have had to give up a job I love at Colemans Craft Warehouse because my husband can no longer be left alone at all (severe dementia).

    Thank you once again.

  147. Hi Sue,
Sorry I'm so late in leaving a comment but better late than never! Happy Easter everyone.
Not a hundred percent on this one I'm afraid. I do however love the embossing folder. I've not tried this technique yet, but will have to give it a try. I'm not sure it will work for me though as I never have success with mica powders, always ends up looking a mess!
Tres hope you feel better tomorrow. Congratulations to Rosalind - sorry to hear about your job and sending love to you and your hubbie - it cant be easy for you.Love and hugs to all, Alison xxx

  151. Hi Sue

I've not seen the cloisonné technique in card making before but as I make my own jewellery I am aware of the look. I think this is really pretty, I for one will be digging out the glossy accents to see how that looks as I think it'll look amazing on the mica. Will have to find a suitable stamp as I dont have this one and just give it a go.

Rosalind, congratulations on winning the Wednesday giveaway. I'm glad it has meant so much to you xxx

Late today as I'm still pushing against more pain and tiredness than usual. Have 3 cards to make before Saturdays family party, will be looking through Sues archive for help!

Wishing you all a lovely Easter weekend, a big happy hug to each of you, I have extra for those that need them
