Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Welcome bloggers!  Another Wednesday card giveaway is upon us!  Fire and Ice for today's offering.  I started with a piece of coconut white card and used the Stockholm die decorative insert to cut a shape out of the top of my card (I didn't use the outside cutting edge with it).  I applied a piece of self adhesive sticky sheet to the front of the card, covering all of it.  I turned the card over and from the back, I gilded the open areas with Summer Meadow gilding flakes.  I used a Rubit Scrubit pad to lightly refine the flakes and remove the excess.  Trim the card to size before removing the backing paper on the front as you will surely pick up a bit of the gilding flakes around the edge.  Peel the backing paper off, then coat with Iced Snow.  Cut two of the Scandinavian Borders out of coconut white card and glue them to the lower portion of the card on top of each other.  Leave the edges loose and push upwards for a ruffly look.  Tie a messy bow out of white seam binding and add in the centre of the border with a glue dot.  Using a Dazzler setting, add Glossy Accents to the bezel, then sprinkle with Gilding flakes.  Use a pokey tool to mix them into the Glossy Accents.  Allow to dry overnight then repeat to make it fuller looking before adding it to the centre of your bow.  Add a pearl strip to the centre of the border on either side.  To complete the focal element, stamp your sentiment in Clear Perfect Medium and emboss with Ancient Copper embossing powder.  Cut it out with the smaller die from the Copenhagen die set, then mat it with the Stockholm die, also cut out of coconut white card.  Add some white flatback pearls in various sizes to embellish your creation.  Finally, add a white paper pierced mat followed by a slightly larger white mat.  The finished dimensions are  6 1/2" x  7 3/4" in size.  If you would like to be included in the drawing to win this card, just eave me a comment and check back on Saturday's post for the winner to be announced.  All for now, Sue x

I suspect I won't be doing any crafting for a day or two....I got a new puppy yesterday, a tiny ten-week-old scrap, as yet unnamed, who is currently hanging off the corner of my laptop! He wants to help with EVERYTHING!!! I may get him to help with perforating the edges of the card! :D Got to go...it's playtime!! Jo xx

    Morning Sue
Fire and Ice is appropriate for this morning as it's very cold outside but nice and warm here in my living room. lol.
Today's gift is so sparkly and with the added fire of gilding flakes makes everyone smile. I have not as yet seen your strips of pearls but have now received my order of pearl corners along with your fantastic efolder of Scored Lines.
I'm sorry you're not feeling too good but hoping that another day's rest will help. The bug that's doing the rounds is a real sticker and it seems that it has to have it's time before moving on.

Have to finish off a card which is needed to be delivered this afternoon so shall have to get a wriggle on.

  68. Hi Sue,
Beautiful card today. I love your fire and ice technique.
I'm really sorry that I haven't been around for almost a week, but I have been so poorly. I've had a terrible bout of either food poisoning oR Norovirus. It started latfriday morning at 2am and just couldn't stop being sick for 18 hours! Since then, I just haven't had the energy to get out of bed or even look at my iPad ( which is extremely unusual for me!) finally, today, I feel ok so now need to catch up on your creations and everyone's comments. I have lost nearly a stone though! My aunt has done quite well in hospital and they have drained her lung so at least she can breathe without pain. I'm hoping to get in to see her today as I've been clear of nasty symptons for 48 hours. I hope everyone is ok - I'm sorry if Friends have been poorly or anything, I will try to catch up I promise! Sue, I gather from comments this morning that you haven't been well yourself, so I really do hope that you are on the road to recovery. Sending love and hugs to all you lovely people, Alison xxxx

Also with Google I have to log on for that every time, what has changed?
Taken too long I have to prove I'm not a robot a third time!

  126. Good Morning Sue & all the Wilsonettes! I hope you are all well & enjoying good weather, wherever you live? I was SO sorry to hear that you've been poorly, sue but I hope you are WELL ON THE MEND, NOW? Have you had this nasty flu bug? I had it a while back (whilst gong through an operation to have bladder stones removed & having to put up with them coming back, after only a few weeks!)& I it really made me feel ill, which is not like me! I hope that no-one has to suffer it! Well you have excelled yourself AGAIN, Sue with a beautiful card! I LOVE the Fire & Ice technique & will have to try it, although I am a little scared in case it goes wrong! I have bought QUITE A LOT of your dies, lately (especially the new ones, from the Weekender)& have made some classy cards! Please will you post, on your blog, how to make the butterfly from your latest set of dies (I can't remember which one, off the top of my head, at the moment!)? I would love to be able to achieve that! Well, I will have to leave you all, now! Take care! Best wishes, Mary Blight XXX

  161. Hi Sue. I love the fire and ice and there is certainly plenty of ice on this card - it is beautiful. I adore the Scandinavian border and recently used it in a similar manner but with a sliver of coloured card along the centre before placing individual pearls as I don't have the strips. It looked rather like a lovely garter.
I do hope you are improving daily and will soon be back to good health.
