In My Thoughts Always

Good Sunday Morning all!  I have a really simple card for you today.  The stamp does all the work really.  I think this one would work very well for the guys in our lives or even as a get well or sympathy card., what do you think?  I used the Honeycomb Haven embossing folder to add some texture to a piece of coconut white card.  I matted it in black and added it to a larger white background, also matted in black.  I stamped the Old Oak Tree stamp in black Archival ink on a piece of coconut white card.  Using a wet paint brush, I picked up a bit of Tumbled Glass Distress ink that I had swiped on to my craft mat.  I painted in the lake area, adding just a touch of pink as a reflection from the sky.  For the sky, I did a bit of a watercolour wash, meaning I added water to my card, then touches of Distress ink in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door to it.  I just allowed the water to pull it around for a sunset looking background.  I dried it with a heat tool then cut it out with the Innsbruck die outer frame. I added it to the centre of my embossed background with mounting foam.  I decided not to add any further embellishments, but it could easily be dressed up for a more feminine look if desired.  I finished the card with a frame of white PVA glue dots and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.

    Morning Sue
Truly a work of art for today's gift. As you say useful for many occasions including those pesky males in our lives. I love this stamp and have to say it's on my wish list but unfortunately you keep producing more and more magnificent dies and this lovely stamp gets further down my list.
It may also be because I would have to use water/ink etc and I just know what kind of mess I would finish with. Will just have to be brave in 2015 and see what mahem I can create. Perhaps Steph could help me out. lol.

Steph - good luck today with the market today. Hope you will be able to Keep warm.

We had a lovely morning with the littlies who of course are already on a 'high' (oh how I wish I had their energy) but that didn't stop U.Jim from visiting the old fashion sweety shop buying them Swirly Candy Lollipops which are loaded with E numbers and yes I was exhausted but have now recovered.
All Cakes are baked and wrapped just waiting to be put into Christmas Sacks and so today is the day I start to wrap all the presents so I might just have to have a pick me up later. These days wrapping day has been extended into two/three days and I use more bags than paper.

To all under the weather hoping you feel better soon. To everyone take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  49. Hi Sue
What a perfect card to convey sympathy. The analogy between sadness and a setting sun is very poignant.
The way you have coloured the image is so professional with the little hint of pink suggesting the sun reflecting on the lake and the graduation of shades in the sky.
Your talent never ceases to amaze me

Gentle hugs to all those who have a sense of the sun setting in their lives.

  52. Beautiful, serene perfect for a sympathy or difficult times card. Unfortunately I have done too many sympathy cards this year. Usually do classic white on white or black and white. I do special Christmas cards for those bereaved during the year. I have done some with your beautiful angel ( cut for me kindly by Steph and embosser to save time!) and some with your peace die. I always give a poinsettia with those cards. I managed to find a thinking of you this Christmas stamp which is the perfect sentiment.

Tilly's party yesterday took them indoor climbing - these parties get more exotic and I was challenged to find something no one else had done! Then home with 2 friends for a sleepover so been rather full on. Though managed to finish die cutting poinsettias and remaining cards whilst girls watching a movie!

Want to finish all craft projects tomorrow and finish the wrapping - I live in hope!

Tilly's birthday Tuesday and taking her and a friend to build a bear as a treat and out for tea!

Might get to sit down sometime! Well off for now. Congratulations to all winners and Teresa's daughter on getting the job! Good luck Cheryl with the rest of your treatment. Hugs to Norah, pop in and say Hi when you are ready xxx

  112. I love this saying!!! It would be perfect to send to my uncle. I am so sad because he said he doesn't want me to come to visit him next summer (I live 9 hrs from him). His health has been declining for the past several years and he says he wants me to remember him as he used to be.

  139. Hi Sue, a gorgeous CAS card with the lovely stamp that I just had to buy after a previous showing by you. I love the way you have coloured it in, you really do see with an artist's eye.

Can anyone tell me where the week-end has gone? I have spent most of the day wrapping presents and trying to find suitable boxes in which to post them. This evening I have been making a special card for my sister using Sue's filigree poinsettias. I do wish I had remembered to put a sheet of double sided sticky onto my white card first!

Congratulations to all of today's winners, you will receive a lovely Christmas present from Sue.

  140. I know I'm very late but I have a good excuse. I have done a Christmas craft fair today. It was disastrous. The weather put paid to that. On the plus side I sold 3 cards 2 of which are my Sue wilson inspired makes rather than what I call run of the mill cards. The compliments flowed but really too close to Christmas for the few that were there to think of cards. Back to the card.
I've been toying with buying this stamp but doubt my ability to do anything with it. It would be fab for mens cards like you say... Ummm. ...
    well time for bed.
    sleep well
