Peace

Hi bloggers!  I have a confession to make.  I absolutely love this Christmas card and didn't want to make it part of a double day post.  I really didn't want to have it share the limelight with another card, how silly I know!  I had this idea to use my Mosaic Poinsettia in the background of the Angel aperture almost from the minute I received the first prototype die of her (and there were several versions done!)  I couldn't decide what colours I wanted to do it in, though so it just kept getting put on the back burner so to speak.  Once I decided on a dusty rose and milk coloured card palette, though, I realised that I didn't have very much of this dusty rose card left.   In the end I had to be very careful about my cutting so as to get enough poinsettias and my Classic Rose die out of the few pieces that I had left.  I chose these colours because years ago I made Christmas ornaments for my first tree out of the same colours, it had a very romantic, vintage feel to it and that is what I wanted for this card as well.  I cut the Christmas Angel 2014 aperture out of milk card first and added mounting foam to the back of it.  Next I cut several different sizes of the Mosaic Poinsettia die out of dusty rose card.  I glued them on to another piece of milk coloured card so that they filled the aperture opening.  I mounted the angel over the top and matted it with a thin milk card mat.  I cut a candle and glued it into her hands.  On a larger piece of milk card, I stamped my sentiment with a clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed it with gold detail powder.  I mounted the angel aperture above it.   Using the Classic Rose die, I cut several of the dies in an assortment of sizes and made roses from them following the technique in the tutorial at the top of my blog.  I added dries clear Cosmic Shimmer glue to the edges and "sugared" them with Iced Snow.  I mounted the larger one in the bottom right corner with some cream tulle.  I cut Holly Sprays and Faux Quilled Leaves and added them around the flower.  I rubbed the tips of the leaves with the Perfect Medium pad, then embossed them in gold powder as well.  I added some Iced Snow to the holly leaves too.  I did the same thing with the two smaller roses, but mounted them in the opposite corner by the Angel's wing, but without the tulle this time.  I finished the card with a double milk card mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  I hope you think she was worthy of her own blog post too! LOL  All for now, Sue x

  25. Hi Sue and all Wilsonettes (its so heart warming to see several new names staying on for the fun and frolics) and welcome home to those we've not seen for far too long. It bought a smile to my face to see 200+ comments left yesterday so lets keep em coming and get this angelic angel to hold a number 1 in her pretty hand : )
I know what you mean about using card that you only have small amounts of ! I have 2 very large polythene bags and a box full of scarce cardstock ! I even keep the smallest of corners that are left thinking its enough for a single lef or petal !! And if its totally lush and purchased from somewhere different I have a tiny piece in a book and the shop it was bought from !!! OCD maybe ? If its too lush I just keep it to look at.
I love how you used the apature, and to think your creative mind was buzzing at first sight, well, my mind never buzzes lol ! It really is a stunning start to our Monday.
Going back to your video story Sue, ever thought of doing an Annual blooper video ? Bet that would be top of the bloopers - how not to craft with jet lag lol.
A day in today as far too cold to venture out, so a push on with some of my 'special' festive cards even though Im sore and shattered after yesterday, and a batch of New Year cards I think as next market is 21st Dec so most will have already shop bought their cards I presume - tut tut.
Im sending good luck to all that enjoyed last weeks wonderful launch and I hope to see lots of happy names up in lights today. We are ALL winners though as we have the most talanted friend and designer on our side : )

Please take as many warm comforting hugs as you need today if you feel unwell or down.
Stay warm and crafty if you can.
    Love you.

    morning Sue
What an absolutely wonderful way to start the week!!!!
Your Angel will always have to have centre stage. She is so beautiful and ethereal and I have used her on some of my seasonal cards this year.
Oh how I would love to have her in my home for this year's season.

Steph -so pleased to see you had a good day yesterday. I agree it's definitely an 'at home' day today and Crafting all the way.
Sandra - Hope the girls enjoyed Wembley and were not too disappointed with the result. I agree the differences in sport between the sexes is just so wrong. Whatever happened to 'Equal Opportunities'.
I love your Christmas morning tradition. Make the most of those days as it's not the same when they've flown the nest and have families of their own. Oh don't get me wrong we teach them to have a life of their own and are so proud of them when they take and use the Family traditions with their Families.
Norah - I missed you yesterday. Hope all is well.

Usual Monday morning then - Mr Tesco between 09.00 - 10.00; Bday card to make for a young man aged 11; and then try to finish my Seasonal Cards.
To all under the weather for whatever reason hope you feel better soon. Take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  96. Good morning Sue and my wilsonette friends,
It would have been a traversety if this beautiful lady had had to share with any other cards. She is beautiful Sue with her poinsettia dress and background. The whole card is so beautiful but there again it is white and i love your white on white cards, this one is just varient on that with touch of colour with the beautiful roses and the gold touching the tops of the leaves. This is one card that stunning is not a good enough word, exquiste is getting to the right part of our language but the brain has forgotten the word i need, sorry. And sorry for yesterday as after typing for 40 minutes and at the finishing post my computer decided to play up again and would not let me finish, save or anything and i was just so tired afterwards and i couldn't remember it all again even if i could have got it to accept my posting, so sorry Sue.
We went to OH's nephews wedding reception on Saturday where upon my beloved hubby decided to drink like it was going out of fashion when he knows that he is ill if he has more than two pints of lager. 8-9 pints later plus lord alone knows what else to keep up with his brother, nephews and our son in law(who are all used to drinking a few times in the week, not once in a blue moon like him), we left with him feeling decidedly under the weather and got home just in the nick of time. Surfice to say that i felt no sympathy for him or the bouncing sore head and sea sickness feeling that he had when he put his head down. He spent all Saturday trying to get rid of a sore head to go and inflict that on himself at night so end up with another sore head yesterday.
Yesterday was such a lovely day up here at my hills and going across to Stirling and Bannockburn and today you wouldn't know it as it is cold and dark out there. I hope that where ever you are going today that you all have a good day. Good luck to Nanna Tina for your pre op and be good until you get your op over and done with. None of this deciding to half someone's suffering and share in their cold or flu or anything else, ok?
Cheryl flower, i know this treatment is going to take a lot out of you, but i am thinking of you and sending you hugs. Take care dear lady.
Sending hugs to all my wilsonette Angels both on blog and not at the moment. I hope that our friends that are missing will be strong enough to come back soon.
    Love and crafty hugs

  145. Hi Sue,
First of all, very sorry was unable to post yesterday! It was just one of those days and when I did sit down later on I forgot I hadn't posted earlier! I think it's called the ageing process! Lol!
I completely understand why you thought this gorgeous angel should have her very own "day on the blog." she is stunning . The card is beautiful. I love pink at Christmas time - it's warm without being as bright as red. I know what I mean!
Yesterday's buckle card was gorgeous too and I did laugh about your jet lag moment. My husband suffers from it much more than me and it takes him about ten days to get back to normal. Whatever that is. Lol.
Nanna Tina - do hope all goes well today. Thinking of you.
Cheryl - Thinking of you for Thursday. Do hope the treatment doesn't upset you too much. x
Haven't read yesterday's posts so hope I'm not missing anyone out.

Janet, the girls enjoyed the atmosphere although they were a little disappointed at the score, they were frozen when they got back mind! I hope that they take our family traditions with them when they move on with their own families, I still hold out a little hope that they will come home to Mumma for Christmas, but I guess I didn't want to do that when I moved out! Oh dear! Xx

  178. Hi Sue,
Hope you don't mind, but a message for Anne Crawford. I have had the same trouble with my angel, even with the e Bosser. I tried every way, then embossing it and the bit right in the middle still wouldn't cut so I eventually put another little piece of card over the bit that hadn't cut and this finally worked. Hope this helps. Nana Tina hope pre op assessment went well and Cheryl, good luck for Thursday, my thoughts will be with you. Love Alison xx
