Just For You

Hello my crafty friends!  What a week, huh!  Thank you so much for the fabulous comments and just the enormous amount of overall support.  I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love and the icing on the cake is to have you like it as well!  The videos for the new dies will start on Tuesday too, so hopefully there will be loads to inspire you for all the different die designs.  Today's card is basically a male version of the card that was on offer for the card giveaway on the 5th of Nov. (seen below)   One of the things that I try to do when designing dies is strike a balance between the masculine and the feminine on at least a few of the die sets. While I tend to like a more girlie sort of look in my dies, we do all need to make loads of cards for the men in our lives so, for me, a die that can pull off both a feminine look and a masculine look is ideal.  This Auvergne die fits the bill for that very nicely.  I have used it here with gilding flakes behind it instead of the Iced Snow used in the card on the 5th.  Take away the bow and you have a really nice card for the men in your lives.  While the gilding flakes do not tend to photograph incredibly well, you can see them better in the close ups.

I started with a piece of coconut white card and cut the Auvergne insert out of the top half of the card.  On the lower portion, I cut the Bevelled Glass Striplet insert.  I did not use the outside cutting edge of either one of these.  I cut the card on a paper cutter directly in the centre of the Striplet, then matched it up and glued it on top to make it half the width for a smaller border area.  I added mounting foam to the back of this piece to raise it for dimension.  On a piece of chestnut card, I added self adhesive sticky sheets to the area which corresponded to my die cut area.  I peeled the backing paper away and gilded it with Mulled Wine Gilding flakes.  I made a double frame using the outside cutting edges to the Auvergne die set and mounted foam on the back and added it over the insert cut out area.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the French tag.  Before removing it from the die, I inked it with Tea Dye distress ink.  I mounted it with foam in the centre of the Auvergne insert area.   I finished the card with a wide white mat that I used Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue to create dots around the edge.  A thin chestnut mat was added followed by a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.

There was not a card giveaway this week and there are no comment game winners this week either due to the die launch, however, don't forget to check back Monday afternoon for the winners of the dies to be posted!  All for now, Sue x

  6. Good Morning Sue, Pam and all Wilsonettes, what a fantastic week it has been for us here on your blog, we have been thoroughly spoilt, thank you. I adore this card, yes we all struggle with male cards and this one really fits the bill, I love the gilding flakes in the background, what a beautiful colour they have.

I should think Sue that you need a well earned rest now.

  8. Good morning Sue and everyone. Love the "male" version of this card, the French collection is fabulous - I especially like how there are different size cutting edges to make frames. Looking forward to the new video collection, it's like having a private crafting class with you. Hope you take a rest after this latest launch (but somehow I think you'll be planning the next)!

  13. Morning Sue. You have done it again two beautiful cards made from the same dies but got totally different finishes on them the female is very classy and elegant and the male is very bold and striking. I do come to a sticking point when it come to make male cards, i just seem to lose my mojo and thats why you are such a life saver as i just look through your blog and hey presto i find something to get me going again.
Thank you for a great week with all the lnsparation on your new dies, looking forward to the start of your new videos. You must never stop but as you say you love what you do and thats great news for your thousands of followers.

  16. Hi Sue. Happy Saturday to all.
This card is so striking. It certainly would be the one to stand out amongst all other's (even if it DOES have flakes on it) lol. The 'girly' version is beautiful no mistaking that. That's why we love your products and style as it's so easy to use the majority of your dies for male and female cards just with a change of colour and sentiment - unfortunatly I find it so hard to see a male like card in my mind until you share your brilliant idea's with us. Im still working like a mad woman to get enough festive cards ready for tomorrow's market and for the December market ! Im like a dog chasing its tail at the moment !
Probably a good job our fantastic week is over so I can get my head down and concentrate on what I need to ! Although it was a great reason for a 2hrly rest, my hands certainly appreciated the break lol.
Will be interesting to see how many comments are left today.
Sending love and gentle hugs to all that dont feel so well today.
Have a wonderful day Sue, and congratulations on your wonderful new collection. Who needs designer clothes when we can get designer dies ay ?
    Love you.

  18. This is awesome. We definitely need more options for making man cards and this is a stunning one. I think of it more as a uni-gender card because I would be thrilled to receive this card. I pinned to two of my boards this time. One on my Sue Wilson board and again on my Great Guy Cards board. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/415386765605763095/

  20. Hi Sue,
This is a fabulous card for those pesky males and the original one is just beautiful. I do struggle with the masculine cards I must admit but this one certainly fits the bill. I'm really pleased that your dies have been so brilliantly received - they are all fabulous! I do admit though, I like the blog when I have time to take in all of the comments - my brain won't take in over 200 comments every few hours! Like Steph says it will be interesting to see how many comments are left this weekend. I hope you now have time for a bit of a rest to recharge those batteries.
To all blog friends and family, I hope you all have a good weekend and sending love, hugs and gentle thoughts to all of you especially those not feeling too well for whatever reason. Love Alison xxx

Loving both versions and you're right about the Auvergne being a unisex die set - it just depends on the choice of colours and additional embellies whether it goes masculine or feminine...this set was top of my wish list until this week's launch but has been pushed down a few places, not too far down though so hope to get my hands on it just after Christmas...

  111. Boy and Girl Twins! and both looking gorgeous! Hope mom Sue is now relaxing after all that hard work giving birth to a new set of dies LOL!
I know the dies used today are from the previous set but I still don't have the ones used today, but there's still time , only I now wish I had made up my mind sooner which dies I wanted from the new set, as yesterday I got a letter from M&S asking me to phone their Fraud Dept.as it turned out someone had used my card last Monday fraudulently, so I have had to cut mine up and wait for a new one 7-10 days, and then I'll have to contact all the suppliers I deal with to change my card number and pin , so meantime I can use hubby's but means he'll know all about all my little treats!
So I better not be too greedy!
Hope everyone has a pleasant weekend and Love and Hugs to all xo

WOW What a week we've had - such gorgeous new dies. I've only just bought the last release of striplets and adore them - so good to have another way to use them for the men in our lives as well as the ladies.
Love the new striplets - so will request for Christmas!! (Well it is something I want!)
Looking forward to seeing the videos.

  119. Good Morning Sue & friends,
Well, what a week!!! I feel exhausted Sue so you must feel 10 times worse! I have been blown away by the amount of lovely comments you received with every post.
did you imagine that they would be so popular? I think us regular Wilsonettes knew how much people would love them.
I would like to personally welcome all new comers to the best blog in the world, please stick around and be a member of the loveliest blog around! You can choose to join in with the day to day ramblings of our little family, or skip past the longer comments, either way you will be most welcome! This amazing bunch of ladies have gotten each other through some pretty tough times and also shared some huge highs!
The main benefit of this amazing Blog is the amazing daily inspiration, Sue makes time to inspire us 365 days a year......yes that's every single day!
I have been lucky enough to have been a member of these amazing 'family' since 2011, in those days daily posts were around the 70/80 range, so look how far we have come! Amazing achievement Sue xxxx
Today's card is fab, I think that this die set will appeal to guys too as the die looks like the 'spokes of a wheel' (although not round), there is nothing about it that shouts feminine ! That's the versatility of Sue's dies!
Anyway enough of my ramblings for one day, enjoy your weekend everybody, I am off to look at some dies and writing my list for Santa!
    Crafty hugs!

  129. Good morning Sue and my Wilsonette friends,
Well what a week we have had with such an array of beauty paraded before us and done in such style. Todays version of the November car is just as beautiful as that one Sue, it's just different. I love the gilding flakes behind the border and die cut Auvergne, as it does look stunning and the perfect card that we can make for our difficult people in our lives that don't go in for pretty and feminine, although i can't see why they don't like it.
I am glad that you have such a wonderful response to your new collection and that all your hard work that you have put in has been so rewarding. I know it is hard leading up to it with doubts as to what others might think, but i hope that all the fabulous and well deserved praise as way laid any fears that you might have had, as each and everyone was different and so very, very beautiful. I would say three cheers for you, but some how i don't think you would hear them some how. Mum is so very rightly proud of her wee girl and all that she has achieved and she has every right to be so. I know you will probably be having the wheels in your head turning up a notch yet again, but please take this special time in the USA to enjoy your family time, there is plenty of time after thanksgiving to start all over again. Happy Thanksgiving when it comes to you and your family.
Steph, dear friend please take that wee break again today as you will get more done if you are not stressed to the max and i hope you have a great market tomorrow, keep warm flower as it is getting colder and don't want you coming down with even more than you already have to cope with.
Anne, i am so sorry that your card has been targeted like it has. Why do these nasty pieces of work steal from us instead of getting a proper job and earning their own money. I hope that you get it sorted out soon, but well done to M&S for being on their toes.
Alison(Barbie), Kirsten has had her last 3 nights in the Acute Assessment Unit bad with them being overflowing past capacity and having numerous extremely ill life or death patients in and of course not enough staff either in nurses or doctors to cope efficiently with. I can only hope dear friend that your next shift is better for you.
Well i am going up to see mum and dad today as the stone mason has got her details on there now so she can rest in peace hopefully. I hope that you all have had a wonderful week with seeing all of Sue's beautiful new creations and roll on Tuesday for the start of the new videos. Sending hugs to all my Angels both on blog and not at the moment, i hope that my missing Angels are getting stronger by each day,
    Love and crafty hugs

  130. Good morning Sue, and all the ladies.
Isn't it great how just altering the colour of card can change it from female to male, less the bow of course.

Well almost every single new die set is on my Christmas wish list. I just could not choose. I am such a nightmare when it comes to your dies. I just want them all !!
Today's card is really fantastic and I just love it !! I have the Auvergne die set and the Beveled Striplet (which is one of my most used dies to make men's cards with) I am definitely going to make this one for my Father in Laws Birthday in January !! I am so pleased as I have most of today's card ingredients !!
I love the glittered version to. I think I will make both.
