Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Good morning all!  I thought this card might make a nice one for the Wednesday card giveaway.  I hope you think so too.  I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card using the Snowflake Lattice embossing folder for some background texture.  I cut several of the Classic Poinsettia in red card.  I matched the sizes of the dies with the same ones in the Filigree Poinsettia set and cut them in white, overlaid them and glued them together, then offset them to make two flowers.  I glued them in the corner of the card, then added several Holly Spray sections around them.  I added small 3mm white pearls to the spray as accents.  I stamped my sentiment from the Joy To The World stamp set by Creative Expressions and then cut it out with the Salzburg die.  I ran a bead of dries clear glue around the edge and dusted it with Iced Snow.  Once dry, I added it to the upper corner of the card.  I matted my card with a white mat, a thin red mat and a final white mat.  On the inside white mat, I added white Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue dots all the way around the edge to frame it.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  9" in size.  If you would like to be entered in the drawing for this card, just leave a comment on today's post.  The winner will be drawn and announced on Saturday's post.  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
Thank you for 'a truly Wondrous' gift today. If it's not too forward of me to say that I've a lovely space all cleared and ready for just such a gift here in Burgundy.
So classic for the season in every possible way. I did not buy the holly dies but they are definitely on my list ready for next year.

Pam - Where are you? Hope you are OK.
Sandra - I missed you yesterday. Hope all is OK.

It's just getting light here so I cannot really say how the weather is. At least the wind and rain from last night seems to have passed over. Will have to have a trip round the garden to see if there's any damage.
We had a visit from our local young builder yesterday to explain to us just where he will be digging to put in new domestic waste filters and inspection points. There will be huge damage done to our bank account for that. We are not on mains drainage so we have a septic tank and filters. The European whatever has declared that everyone has to have a system which will pass all their requirements by 2016. We were inspected last year (and had to pay 47E) for the pleasure of a little man telling us that the septic tank was OK but we did not have any up todate filters etc. They will return in 2016 to inspect again and make sure that the work has been done. Hence our lovely builder. So part of our garden and front drive will be dug up next March. We don't have mains gas either and so we use bottled - so fingers crossed that they will leave that utility alone. Ah well that's the end of today's rant.

To all who are under the weather hope you feel better soon and to all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  40. Wow Sue this card is absolutely stunning, I love how the background actually looks etched out of snow or ice, because of amount of white! I also think that this card would look good with black in place of the red but that's just personal preference cause i'm not keen on that stark of a red with white it would have to be more of a burgundy with the white for me, but I love everything about this, might just steal it lol, hugs, Vick xxx

Absolutely STUNNING Christmas card today, one I would love to win, love the colours too reminds me that Christmas is not far away now.
I hope everyone came through the storms unscathed, we didn't get too much rain, but the wind was very strong.
Went to see my dear friend who desperately needs a lung transplant. She cannot even do her card making now, so very sad, she can only sit in a chair with her oxygen on. This is the lady who used to walk miles and swim in the sea and ran her own business. I do hope that something can be done for her soon. She would love to be able to lead a normal life and do the ordinary everyday things that we all take for granted.
Well I am rambling, so have a good day everyone and be happy.
    Love and hugs

  72. Good morning Sue and my Wilsonette Angels,
Oh how i love all the components about this card and the white is just stunning as always. Me being stupid, not too good with the red and white but that is just a simple change for me to Ivory or another colour to overcome my silly superstitious irrational mind and fear.
Didn't get to see John yesterday so perhaps i will get to see him on the computer today before teeny come for us to go down to mums and start sorting out indoors. Not too good at being inside her house at the moment but i will need to get some grit in me and do it.
Where are you Pam because now i am worried at you not being here 2 days in a row. I hope that you are alright my flower.
Sandra you were missing yesterday yourself, are you ok or did taking Lucy to the hospital kinda knock you out a bit? I hope that the wee lass got some positive help out of her visit as it must be worrying for her having the double vision and in some places dangerous. Tell her she is not to go hill climbing until she can see straight again(as my wee ticker couldn't take the stress of her getting her footing wrong). Sending her hugs.
Oh Anne, i don't envy your long days in between getting in to see Iain in the hotel. Balls of wool and either knitting needles or a crochet hook could work wonders in keeping down the worry that you are going through that will be heightened by being alone in the hotel room. Sending you and him both big hugs as you could both be doing with some.
Well getting out the car at the car park the fella that is in Shopmobility seen me and told me to stay where i was and he was bringing a scooter over. I get a row often because i don 't like putting them to any trouble. It can take 3 go's at the traffic lights to get across the road on really bad days, when Iain(the man in Shopmobility) goes daft as i should have called him from the car park and he would bring one across, but i always feel that there are so many of them that take advantage of the lovely people in there and i just feel guilty because i can still walk, even if it is slow and stilted at times( especially when the legs have decided that nothing and no coaxing on this green earth is going to make them go that day). After getting all geared up ready for Di's hubby, he didn't come as he has torn(so he says)his hamstring playing Walking Football the day before. Di thinks that he over stretched while walking to get the ball so it was lovely just us again because although he said he would just sit and read while waiting on us, i could just picture it when we got back to him. We will NEED to get him a hobby that he can be doing while we meet up for the couple of hours, because i don't think either of us could take the crabbit mood that he would be in when we came back. But i had a good shopping day in Deb's and got a few bits and pieces for Kirsten's bottom drawer or cupboard as it is now. I think at 75% off i did well for her getting a Meyer grill pan(one of those rippled bottom frying pans), a set of Joseph Joseph chopping boards that from a sort of v shape to get the veg in the pots and a set of Jamie Olivier' kitchen essentials like tattie masher, tongs for turning things, slotted spoon, normal spoon and spatula, so all in all i think i did well with my bargains. So banked up for her in this cupboard i have most of the things that you need when starting up a home and the two most important things being a rolling pin and good heavy frying pan which i will leave up to yourselves to decide on purpose.
We have a very nondescript sort of a day hear at the Ochils as if it doesn't really know what it wants to do today the weather. I hope that where ever you are that the sun is as least shining out. Sending hugs to all my special Angels that are on blog at moment or not, take care dear friends,
    Love and crafty hugs

  111. You've done it again, Sue. Beautiful. I made a card using these dies yesterday, but I am still having trouble with the filigree ones, even though I used the wax paper as you advised. Can't believe I could be so lucky as to win 2 weeks running, but will still keep my fingers crossed.

  186. Hi Sue,
Stunning card today , I absolutely love it. I think it is one of my all time favourite Christmas cards and one that I will attempt to replicate! Whoever wins this will be extremely lucky so good luck to everyone. I'm sorry I didn't comment yesterday but my aunt ( who as you know isn't well) phoned to say she didn't feel well so I had to go and see her. She has been feeling sick, but won't eat which is making her feel worse. The doctor gave her anti sickness tablets but she won't take them because they can cause clots and she has just finished treatment for a clot in her leg! Anyway, I stayed with her last night and have managed to get her to eat something today so hopefully there might be some improvement. I'm sorry to moan on, but I am worried about her - she's a bit like my surrogate mother! Anyway, Pam hope you are ok, not used to you not commenting. Love and hugs to all especially those feeling down or in pain. Love Alison xxx
