Hello bloggers! Time for another giveaway card and I have selected this one that I demoed back in July on the Justrite shows that I shared with Julia Watts. I started with the background and inked my Checkerboard Pinpoint embossing folder with Clear Perfect Medium. I ran it through my Grand Calibur with a piece of black card, transferring the ink from the folder to the floor of the folder design. I covered the card with clear embossing powder and heated it for a glossier look, which helped the raised pattern stand out more. It just gives a bit of interest to the background without being overwhelming. I wrapped a piece of dusty rose satin edged organza around the card in both directions and taped the ends to the back. I tied a double bow and added it to the intersection with glue dots. I topped the bow with a black crystal sparkler and made two matching stick pins as well. For the focal element, I stamped the Rose Bouquet stamp by Justrite using a Black Archival ink pad on to coconut white card. I cut it out with my California Collection Decorative Frames Set B die and inked it with Victorian Velvet while still in the die. I removed it and stamped my sentiment (from the Rose Bouquet set as well) in the open area below the flowers. The stamp itself is actually larger than the die and it cut off part of the leaves, so I stamped it again on a separate piece of card and cut out a few of the leaves and the flowers separately. I used the leaves added on top to cover the parts where the stamp was cut off. It just makes it appear more finished that way. I gave the flowers a bit of dimension with a ball stylus and added them atop the first stamped set. I used Distress markers to colour the entire image and extra leaves. I added a bit of Diamond Snow to the flowers for bling too. I added my focal piece with foam to the centre of my card. To complete the card, I added a pierced white mat layer, then a thin black mat and a final whit mat. The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 8 1/4" in size. If you would like to be included in the drawing to win this one, just leave me a comment (directions are on the side of my blog if you have never done it before). I will draw a winner and announce it on Saturday's blog post. All for now, Sue x
Was just catching up with all your shows on C&C and when you was gilding and you mentioned it looked like it had texture because of the different sized flakes I thought it reminded me of frosted glass panes, imagine it in the silver even the gold, it looked like a window would frost up with all that beautiful textured look!! loving everything and you love to win a card today too, stunning work Sue,love that dusky pink, hugs always Vick xx

Oh and Sue, I hope im not teaching you to suck eggs here but when you say about vellum that it may break while embossing I get around it with copier paper, I always add a piece of copier paper at either side of the vellum to prevent the breakage but if its parchment paper I only use 1 piece of copier paper, doesnt always work but 9 times out of 10 it does!! And im guessing you probably are aware of it but it may help someone else reading this, hugs xx Vick
ReplyDeleteStunning Sue, love it all.

ReplyDeleteWhat a truly stunning card today, I love the dusky rose and black together and the stamp you've used is very pretty. ReplyDeleteLovely card Sue. I love this embossing folder - another item on the wish list! And I don't mind a bit of black - bring it on!
ReplyDeleteLovely card Sue. The stamp is gorgeous.
ReplyDeletemorning Sue
ReplyDeleteHaving not like the recent gifts with black being the prominent colour today's gift has made a dint in my reasoning. I think it's because the ribbon covers a lot of it along with the focal element which is absolutely gorgeous. Sue you really do make me step outside of my box sometimes. Nicely of course. So today's gift is beautiful and it's place is still reserved and waiting. Finger/toes etc crossed.
Alimecca- Your day yesterday was absolutely fantastic (and I wasn't there in body but definitely in spirit along with Mr E).First steam trains and then Whitby and TRENCHERS for fish and chips - you don't get better than that. Mr E will be drooling when I tell him of your day.
Norah - I have just left Whitby and am now in your beautiful land of Scotland with you. I love this kind of travel as it allows me to meet up with friends! You definitely finished my day on the up side.
Sandra - very much well done to your gorgeous girls. They are made just as strong as their Mum aren't they! Your day of picking sloes for one of my favourite drinks 'sloe gin' sounds just beautiful. I finished making ours a week or so ago.
Well my visit yesterday went reasonably well. I though it would be my last visit but no they have taken me off one of my tablets and so want to see me in three week's time to check for any affects. Sometimes I just feel like a yo yo. going from one medical dept to another. This also means that our trip to Burgundy has to be put back by 10days. I know it doesn't sound much but I love to see the garden change for Autumn and I need to organise the borders ready for winter. OK whinging over at least I'll get there.
To all who are feeling a little under the weather hope you feel better soon and to everyone take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Janet x
PS I've just read my blog piece and I sound really ungrateful. I'm really not. I appreciate everything everyone does for me.

Good Morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteWOW! I love today's card, it is truly stunning! Thank you for sharing this and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
Margaret A.
Good morning Sue. This is a really pretty card. Every time I see that stamp it calls to me, but it will just have to wait. I too love that embossing folder but have never tried making it shiny. That's a trick for later today. Tomorrow is my little one's 18th and she's just come down with an ear infection. As all your followers know, life can be very unfair! xx Maggie (better without a bow)
ReplyDeleteI am liking the recent heartfelt creations stamps that have been on the telly recently and have bought a few - however not this particular one. Love the card.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue and my Wilsonette Angels,
ReplyDeleteThe black broken up by the dusky pink ribbon & the topper. The topper is so beautiful and comes alive with the decoupage leaves and roses. It has been coloured beautifully. Thank you for all the hard work that you put in as it is so very much appreciated by us.
Frances, i hope your holiday home is giving you a lot of happiness and recharging your batteries again. See you when you come back for coffee soon i hope.
Craftynanna, sorry to read your hubby hasn't been well, but i hope that whatever it was has passed and he will be back on his feet again soon.
Sheila(Ginger) Glad that you had a fun day out with your auntie and uncle. I bet that you just made that couples day in going with them. Memories are made from acts of kindness and love.
Alison(Alimecca), hope everything goes ok for your aunt today at the hospital, thinking of you both as i know what a worry it is. I must admit to having a thing about steam trains myself as they seem more alive than the electric or diesels, with more character. I have been to Whitby a couple of times with mum and dad when i was younger, but mum has a necklace made of Whitby jet that she has had since she was 15 and it is stunning.
Brenda, if i remember back correctly your parents knew if you had been up to something well before you came tottering back home, but it was the innocuous questions that they would ask you when you came through the door testing you to see if you would own up or tell fibs. Boy did you get it if you told fibs or you actually told the truth but because certain little scunners would tell their mum & dad lies, and were seen through rose coloured glasses, but liars will always get found out and hoisted by their own petard.
Sandra, just wanted to say a big well done to both Sophie and Lucy on their achievements of gaining bronze D of E. I take my knitting with me when Campbell goes fishing just so that i am doing something with the time. The peaceful water with the quietness from all around apart from the odd bird or two chirping. So you sitting crafting while Paul is at the allotment sounds every bit as peaceful. Have a great day and go canny on the gin and sloes for pain relief(hee hee hee).
I am so glad that so many of you can picture my beautiful surroundings. As with ever where else my scenery changes with the seasons, with the autumn being my favourite i think because of all the different coloured leaves and trees. There is a woodland walk not 5 minutes from me and when the trees start shedding their leaves it is so beautiful to walk through the canopy of trees. I thinking the fact that we used to walk for miles as children and teenagers, it gave me a happiness to find the different trees and leaves. I am quite sure a number of you did bark rubbings with crayons or did collages up with dried leaves when you were younger, the wonderment just hasn't left me somehow. As i say i had a wonderful childhood with the different things that we did and all not costing a penny(which we didn't have any way). Today's children have missed out in a lot of freedom and fun just because of life' pace now and the electronic age where they all seem glue to some kind of device 24/7. Kirsten doesn't have the imagination that i or even Rory has. She can't seem to see anything that what it is originally for, but Rory can see my pictures from my minds eye and can see his own as well. It's a shame that todays children can't enjoy the world that is around them the same as some of us have always been able to. Anyway from my beautiful glowing hills with the red from the sun shining on them this morning i will go and leave you all with hugs to my Angels where ever you are today,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (glenochil)
This is just beautiful, I love the colours
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue. The warm colours of this card work so well. I'm not normally a rose pink kind of girl but this combination is lovely. Caz. X

Hi Sue. WOW this is stunning Sue !! I love it !! The background folder looks wonderful. This is an item on my Birthday wish list so I am keeping my fingers crossed !! The ribbon really looks great and it stops the card from looking too black. I love the Californian dies and the justrite rose stamp just looks beautiful stamped, coloured in and slightly decoupaged. More dusky pink colour. I just love it. Teamed with black and white it looks like the perfect match.
ReplyDeleteJust like the sentiment you have used Sue, I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to you to for everything you do for us Wilsonettes. You really do brighten up my day !!

ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I really love this card, it's got some of my favourite things, ribbon, bows, a dazzler and most of all those wonderful pins. What a wonderful card for the Wednesday give-away. Got everything crossed :). As always, thanks for sharing with us. x
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card this week, love the dusty rose and black.
Have had to spend a few unexpected days in bed, so I've spent all this time watching your YouTube videos on Apple TV, and loving every minute of them. You make having to recuperate much more tolerable.
Now, I am so excited, placed my first order through Joanna Sheen for several dies, some Guilding Flakes, glue, and a Stamp. She even had a few of the dies on special. Not even for sure the exact figure, get differing amounts of dollars to pounds, but I have a range, so I'm thankful my birthday is coming up soon, a great excuse for a present. I will be anxiously watching for the mailman until it arrives.
Watching the videos I get tickled at some of the expressions. I noticed cute little things you say differently, like "kitchen roll" instead of "paper towels", and "rubbish bin", instead of "trash can". I really enjoy these subtle differences in language. I'm a Texan living now in Arkansas. I live in a border city, only a few blocks from Texas, but on the Texas side of town, a "Coke" means any carbonated beverage except Dr.Pepper, not true in Arkansas. Funny little differences. Enjoy reading the comments from all the ladies here, and I hope my Texas vernacular is understood in the kind way I intend it too.
Anyway, thanks for the lovely things you make for us to use, and for the videos you share.
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this card the dusty pink and black make a dramatic luxurious look. The embossing folder is on my wish list!! lol
