Thank You For All You Do

Hi there my crafty friends!  Think milk, lilac and black on this one as I know the colour is off a bit on the pics.  That milk card is lovely but always photographs a bit yellow for some reason.  Starting with the background, I used the Austrian background and cut it out of milk card.  There are no outside cutting edges on any of my backgrounds so you are able to decide just how wide of a border you would like for your projects.  I love a wider border edge for a couple of reasons, but mostly because it gives me somewhere to put my mounting foam so that is what I did next.  I adhered the cut background atop a piece of lilac card and then gave it a black mat as well.  For the focal element, I stamped the Arched Swirls (Stamp to die for range by Cr. Exp.) in black on milk card.  I cut it out with the matching die from the Burgundy die set and inked through it with Shaded Lilac distress ink.  I mounted foam on the back and placed it in the centre of my background.  I stamped my sentiment in black and cut it out with the inner oval from the Salzburg die.  I inked it with Shaded Lilac as well before removing it.  The sentiment tag was then seated upon the tag from the Austrian border, corner tag set.  Using the Delicate Daisies, I cut several in lilac from the Complete petal die set, then over laid them with the matching size from the Delicate Daisy Open petal set cut out of black.  I seated the largest flower on to the centre of a messy bow tied from mauve seam binding and a black jute twine bow and added two more flowers in the opposite corner.  8mm cream flatback pearls adorn their centres.  The card was then completed with a pierced mat of milk card, a lilac and black mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 9" in size.  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
from a beautiful Autumn morning here in Sheffield.
Today's gift is so so elegant and the colour pallet is just gorgeous. I love the fact that you didn't put a cutting edge on your background dies as it more than helps us that has a slight problem with little shaky hands that we always know that our backgrounds are straight and therefore all other pieces will have a good guide. Today's sentiment says it all from me to you.

Jan - how could you do that to one of your most important pieces of machinery (and that's not your foot!! lol). Right the machine stays on the table and your foot stays on the floor and never the twain shall meet. You'll be OK if you remember that. But seriously hope you're OK and that you haven't done too much damage to your foot. Feet up and crafting is the medicine.
Yorkielass - we had a beautiful day out at Hognaston sitting in their lovely courtyard with Molly and Cuinn (their two babies ;collies rescued naturally)in attendance of course. I have to say they behaved themselves very well with just one or two little hiccups.
Sandra - Raged Squirrel was having a day off and never came to visit - this was his second day away so it fitted in well with his schedule - apparently he now goes off for one/two days and then returns. Thomas Bday Card made and his first year record (this time I have made a picture collage to mark his first year. For his sister Isobel's first year I did a memory book and I wanted something different for Thomas.)So I think I'm ready other than saving energy for Saturday.
Norah and Steph- hope you're OK. missing you.

It's going to be a crafting day for me after Mr Tesco has delivered and I've put everything away (I really do not like putting groceries away; don't ask me why I just do not). Have to finish off a Bday card for a friend in Brittany and then decide and start on a demo card for my fortnightly craft afternoon as I volunteered to do one this time round. There are 10 of us who meet and therefore I have to produce 10 sets of my chosen card so they can make it. Ah well just so pleased I now have my ebosser!

Hope everyone is ready for the coming week in whatever degree you can make it. Take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.
(I do hope all the above makes sense).

Jan hope your foot ( & Cuttlebug!) are ok. I bet that hurt! Maureen , that has happened to me at the Arena before and now I won't go there. I don't even think it's a nice place to go! I only go to The Sage now - far more civilised! Well it's back to the decorating unfortunately today, although Dave has suggested we go and try to book up for a weekend away to London. I thought he was being really generous until I realised it was because Durham have qualified for the final at Lords! I might finally get to visit Buckingham Palace and I want to see the poppies at the Tower so I'm not complaining! Have a good day everyone. Love Alison xxx

  126. Good Morning Sue & Friends'
What a perfect start to the week Sue, I think it is easy to underestimate the usefulness of the Background Dies, they add so much and can actually, with the addition of a couple of embellishments and a sentiment, make a card on their own! I think I now feel like I want to buy them all, you don't need any fancy papers with these gorgeous dies! I love todays card, thank you Sue xx
Mrs B, thinking of you today, I hope all goes well and you are soon at home, hugs xxx
Counting down the days to Ally Pally now, I just can't wait!
I am glad you didn't encounter 'the squirrel', I would love to see Thomas's first year record, do you have a blog? maybe you could email me a picture? xx
Big Hugs to all of you, fingers crossed for a great week ahead xxx

  128. GA Sue - sorry not commented since Friday but been away for a few days without internet access to Dorset County Show - had a great time and exhibited a picture in the Any Other Handicraft class - first time showing craft at anything other than my local village show so wasn't expecting much but... it came 1st in the class so was well chuffed. My friend also entered a textile picture she'd made in another class which won that class and a cup for Best Craft Exhibit!!! - so you can imagine she was over the moon. And hubby exhibited some vegetables and won and was also placed in some classes so he was pretty happy also! Saturday was also our local village show so I left 4 craft entries with a pal to put in for me - have yet to find out how they fared - Will catch up on your amazing cards when I've unpacked the cases and got some washing on the go -

The colour combinations give a very soft and gentle effect. I like the way you have used the petal dies to emphasise the flower. How you manage to come up with so many ideas to maintain this blog I'll never know. Many thanks. Best wishes to all

  130. Hi Sue, the colours of this card give it a real 'vintage' look. My eyes were immediately drawn to the flower, ribbon and twine on the bottom left-hand corner. What a beautiful addition to the card. Another stunner to start off the week. As always, thanks for sharing with us. x

  141. Hello Sue and all Wilsonettes. I have some information for those of you who have been concerned about Norah's absence from the blog. She has given me permission to tell you all that she is ok but the reason she has gone AWOL is that sadly her mother passed away last week. Naturally she is devastated and doesn't feel able to blog as usual which is wholly understandable but in usual Norah style wants you all to know that she is thinking of you.

  145. Hi Sue. Sorry it has been a while since I was last on your blog. I was quite unwell for several days and then we went on holiday to Weymouth area for a week. I was still unwell but it was already booked some time ago. We had no internet signal at all while away so I had to miss your wonderful blog for a whole week !! It was a nightmare !!
What a fabulous card to come home to !! It is stunning Sue. I really love it all. I have made a card with the milk, black and lilac colour combo before and I loved it. (As did the recipient and everyone else who saw it !!) Obviously it was a version of one of your cards. This card is just soooo beautiful. I have your French background die but not the Austrian one. (Yet.) I love how you have used many different dies from different sets but yet they all look fab together !! I so love the flower dies you have designed and the Delicate Daisy's are on my huge wish list. It is my Birthday in October so I will be dropping big hints to my family in the hope someone may buy me some Sue Wilson Dies and stamps !!
I have recently bought your large dotty bow die set and it is fab Sue. I really love it and at the moment I just love making bows to put on my cards. I love the sentiment you have used for today's card and the stamp that fits the Burgundy die to. I wish I had the money to buy it all !! Thank you so much for all your amazing cards and videos. I love them all.
Wishing you lots of love and special hugs from Tres x x x

  162. Hi Sue

A lovely card. I have a nice collection of pretty cardstock now so soon as I'm ready to I can put colours together like this. What a lovely stamp too.

I've missed you all and hope to be active earlier in the day so I can catch up properly.

Thinking of Norah, Rory and all their family x sending hugs xxx

Lindsay, I'm made up that you were on a horse cantering. Amazing :-)

Hoping to hear from a potential cleaner in the next couple of days. Had a bit of a meltdown Saturday (my temper has been on a hair trigger since the injections and I couldn't hold it down any longer). A bit in limbo now as the hospital that did the nerve block got back to me eventually today, not knowing why things have happened as they've done. They are going to write to the hospital that referred me, check some things out with the rheumatologist there, and once they've got a reply they'll all decide what happens. I'm going to write too so the Dr has an accurate account and photos of my bruises (poor bloke!).

There's no way I can do Ally Pally as just a couple of miles travel in the car causes a whole load of pain. I will make a major show one day! So annoying as its only a two hour journey... which is nothing but If I'm yelping after going in a car i am not going to cope with an hour on a train and an hour on two buses. Never mind, I've waited this long and I can wait more.

It's 10:05 pm, I'm very tired and sore so I'm treating myself to a skinny hot chocolate before bed, I'm going to look at Robbies page in the morning. He's an amazing Lad.

Special hugs for Sue and Sue's Mom, wow, I've missed your cards! Pam & Robbie, Norah & Rory, baby Leo, Lynda, Yorkielass June, Janet Ecco, Maria, Lindsay, Myra, Brenda, Lancashire Steph, Theresa TOB, Sandra, Julie Laz, Lynne (get well soon), Alison (alimecca)... sorry if I forget anyone. My brain decided if my back gets a holiday, it wants one too! Extra special hugs for those Wilsonettes in any type of pain, ill or recovering and big crafty hugs to Wilsonettes everywhere.

Okay, thats my lot. Dozing off between words!

    Love T x

It's pretty late! Sorry I haven't commented for a couple of days but have just been so busy and was out all day Saurday. Today's card is beautiful and I love the colours and also the wide border round the die cut shape. It is so effective. The sentiment - should be directed to you! Thank you indeed for all you do for us.
I have not read many comments but as Norah had been missing I looked for her name.
So very sorry to hear about her Mum. It's never easy , whatever age we are, when our Mum passes away. Mine passed away in 2000 and I still miss her so much.
So Norah, sending my sincere sympathy to you on this sad occasion. Sending love to you and your family and especially Rory who will no doubt miss Grandma very much too. Take care special lady! x
Steph - you are missing too! Do hope you are ok. Sending love to you also.
Will try to catch up with everyone's news tomorrow but this was first Monday of Kids Craft again , so I'm tired.
    It's official!
