You're So Sweet

Hi crafters!  I decided I would show off the California Collection in today's card.  I had this pretty muted green patterned paper that I wanted to use and thought it would be perfect behind my aperture and for my sentiment.  I started out by embossing the background with my Basketweave embossing folder.  You can tell this card was made some time ago because that folder has sold out and is no longer available, sorry.  I used the Decorative Frames Set B from the California Collection to cut the aperture and it leaves the pretty piercing holes around the edge of it.   I cut  the border from the Italian collection and added it to the bottom portion of the card, it is white on white but just adds a bit of detail.  I added foam to the back of this piece and mounted it over my patterned paper.  I cut the San Francisco die using the cutting edge from the Set A Frames so it would have a slightly wider embossed edge on it.  It is subtle but really pretty in person. I used the smaller die in the set and simply embossed the design in the centre of the piece.    I stamped my sentiment on the same patterned paper and cut it out with the Decorative Frames from the Italian Collection, you can just see the soft floral pattern showing through.  I mounted these two pieces together and added them to the aperture opening.  I tied a messy bow out of white seam binding and added a white organza ribbon rose to the centre.  These, by the way, are sold premade in a package and while I know how to make them, they take a bit of doing so I much prefer using these as they are very inexpensive!  A great item to have in your crafty arsenal for when you don't have time to make your flowers by hand!  I added two pearl stick pins with a few pretty beads added to them.  To finish the card, I added a double white mat and used the Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue to make dots all the way around the edge and frame my card.  I added some flatback pearls in the corners and to the border to bring it all together.  The finished dimensions are 8" x 8 3/4" in size.

Now, the winner of the Wednesday Card giveaway is:

Jean Deane!!!

    morning Sue
You really converted me when I first saw your white/white gifts.
I find that I really have to stop myself from using this colour scheme and put a little colour into my gifts.
I love basket weave as it was one of the first A4 folders I bought. I find it so useful for those pesky men in our lives. I also fell in love with your california dies so today's gift is a real hit with me.
I was going to say we have sunshine but either my fingers were not fast enough or the sun was too speedy as it seems to have left us. Ah well have to go shopping this morning so perhaps this afternoon we may meet again. Hope you're OK Norah after your fall - take it easy and sit and look at your beautiful mountains.
Take care everyone and have a good weekend. Congratulations to Jean you very lucky girl.

Fur babies do not like the thunder and lightning. Hubby had to go into work this morning so us 3 fraidy cats are curled up together on the settee waiting for it to pass. Tilly jumped up onto my lap yesterday and laid on her back for a tummy tickle, well just to see how doppy she is I stood up with her in my arms and proceeded to rock her. The daft devil only went to sleep!!!. Did the same thing to Cully but she wasn't having that so she pulled herself upright put her head over my shoulder and was quite content to lay like that!!!. Doppy dogs or what. x x x

  83. Hi Sue
I think these dies will be making their way up my wish list, this card is stunning.
I used one of the striplet dies on my daughter Jessica's card for the 15th birthday today and she loved it, I have also made her some shortbread as she is not a cake girl, thank you to Norah and Yorkie lass for their birthday wishes he had a lovely day his party is today and would you know the rain has started so we are keeping our fingers crossed that it blows over for 1pm when the party starts.
Our visit to the cemetery was lovely the sun was out no wind and we could have just sat there it is so peaceful, my Dad would joke that he only had a bath at Christmas and birthday so he had is 'bath' when we cleaned the headstone and put his flowers and card and he has a balloon wonder if it is still there today, the flowers usually have their heads missing because of the animals we have seen rabbits and deer and horses are in the next field so we always take more flowers.
Congratulations to Jean Deane on winning the card.

Oh how i love today's card Sue and with the soft muted green in the background, it is simply beautiful.
There isn't a thing i would change with your beautiful mini masterpiece today. Although i love how you have the beautiful cosmic shimmer pearl drops around the edge, mine would end up the pave kind with the hands shaky like they are.
Oh Jean, i am so pleased that you have won a Sue original and you can be allowed to enjoy it now that your lovely son Gary is on the road to mend. I hope he is doing as he is told by the physio, it is sore and uncomfortable, but it will bring him back to as normal as he can be.
Good morning Steph sitting up there in the hospital giving the doctors a hard time, and no going oogling the young ones either. Missing your wee stories and little Miss Cassie will be missing you as well. Take care and be good and come home soon.
Jess, glad the wedding went off well and that everyone enjoyed it.
Myra, did the dinner burn or can we hope that the kitchen is still in one piece? The fingers are not keen on crossing at the moment.
Helen, i hope that you are not too sore from your fall in the park. MS can be such a debilitating disease. WOW, a bright orange mini!!! You have got a lovely husband. I wish you many miles of happiness in your little car. I had an old A reg(first time around) when i was 18/19 which was allergic to puddles and the rain. I kept breaking down in it as the distributor cap was right at the front grill and would get wet so would stop the car. Having been stranded at a roundabout, up on to a new road(took all the busy traffic away from the small village), along the Alva-Menstrie Road etc i soon learned how to make it go again but it is amazing the amount of people that stopped and said "Ur ye awrite son" and were amazed that the dungaree legs had a wee lassies voice saying "I'm fine". hee hee hee. That was funny as you seen the legs of the inquirer suddenly move them apart to be met with a oily faced girl with a ponytail. The time that i broke down on the roundabout a big lorry came right up behind me and blocked anyone from hitting the car. This guy was built like Geoff Capes and i think he could have lifted me and the mini at one go. Yes i had many happy times in my mini. Have you ever tried to get a man who is almost 6'8" OUT of a mini, i have and it is hilarious.
Susan (paperjunkie)- i am so glad that you could rebuild your life after being widowed at such a young age. I love history, and i for one will be forever grateful to all those who gave up everything for us. I think being in my late 40's i was one of the lucky generation to learn about their sacrifice for my grandmothers generation, my mum was born 1944 so was still in rations until the early 50's.
Well friends, the other day there i should have know better because if i do something i shouldn't be doing like too much, my little part of my brain i have left says"right i'll caw a halt to her sheinanigans the now, as she's no taking a tellin'" and i promptly go down, so you see it is my own fault because i just ignored the signs. Although Barbara, i can see why hubby gets teased, with getting saved by a half loaf(that is a loaf of bread to my non Scots friends as it used to be baked in twos, so being a half loaf).
Anne, play a hole for me please.
Sending gentle hugs to all of our fragile or in need of a hug. I have beautiful weather up here at Costa de Glenochil and hope that the sun is shining from within even if it is rotten outside.
    Love and crafty hugs

I love this classy card - I think I might even be able to pull it off - changing a few of the things I don't have - but fortunately, thanks to both you and a purchase - I have the Californian dies at my disposal. Just not that embossing folder or sentiment... but that's what it's all about - changing it up and taking inspirarion for something new - not copying your idea per se!

Well I thought I was going to have to cancel riding lessons today due to the thunder that started here around 6.30, but was so,lucky, the rain and thunder stopped at around 8.30, lessons till 11.15 then the rain came down again. Spent the day shopping for new bridle etc for the new equine addition, Panda, and my daughter rode him tonight , he was so good, so will be starting work on Tuesday.
Lynne, my dog I'd fine with the thunder my my daughters one was snuggled right down the bed pressed as hard as he could into her! Sorry your girls and you were upset by it, they love you so much to be so,content to fall asleep in your arms.

Did get to my allotment this afternoon though - so much to catch up on - have lovely friends who watered for me in my absence but the weeds will grow - almost banished them all now.

Thanks Norah for your kind comment - had to kiss a couple of frogs before finding my "Prince" - been together now 27 years.
Julie Laz - so sorry you have been unwell - hate to tell you this but I am 64 but feel like 46! This week made an appearance in the Henley Standard playing my ukulele (and singing a solo too) with my lovely pals "The Ukes of Hazard" at a Queen's Birthday tea party for the oldies last Sunday - page 3 no less - always wanted to be a page 3 girl! Silly thing is I qualified as an "oldie" myself! Love to all what ever age you are (or feel). love Susan X
