Birthday Wishes

Hello bloggers!  Hasn't this week just flown by!  Today's card is a buckle card using the Italian Collection dies and matching stamps.  I embossed the background using the Illusion embossing folder on coconut white card.  I wanted to add a bit of bling so I went around the edge with the dries clear glue then sprinkled it with Iced Snow and let it dry.  Next I cut the outside of the Calabria die in white.  I stamped the Venetian Spirals stamp in black on some pale green card from my stash.  I used a Shabby Shutter distress marker to colour some of the sections for a tone on tone look. I covered the piece with a sticky adhesive sheet then cut it out using two of the Decorative Frames from the Italian collection to give me a frame.  I peeled off the backing paper and coated it with Iced Snow. Next I cut two of the smaller circles from that set and used them to hold my sentiment (from the Bold Sentiment set) which was stamped on pale green card and cut into flag ends.   I stamped the same image on white card and cut it out with just the outer circle die and sandwiched it behind the circles, but allowed the smaller circles to be placed between.  It is a bit confusing to describe but you should be able to follow it when looking at the close ups below.  I added mounting foam to the back and attached it to the Calabria edge, then on to the centre of the card.  I finished the card with a double white mat with a pierced inner layer and some small pearl swirls in opposite corners.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  29. GM Sue - love this especially the EF - lovely. Finished 2 Father's Day cards earlier this week - they turned out quite well and even the piercing was pretty good although I dont find it easy probably because of the arthritis in my hands - I really have to ensure I press quite hard so the ruler doesn't move and this makes me feel tense whilst I'm doing it! but it does look good - would love to see a die that does this although how it would work for different sized cards I haven't got a clue! but if it could be done I think it would be a winner.

Well it's gona be a hot n humid day today so off shopping whilst it's still cool and then some sorting out to do in the craft room, if not today in the heat, this weekend when it will be cooler - everything out time - sort it out and put most, if not all of it back again! - but at least I'll be able to find things more easily.

I sorted my cardsotck out into colours in a draw unit a couple of weeks ago and I am so glad I did that - it's a joy to use now -worth the investment in time no question.

    Stay cool Wilsonettes

I use a slither of cling silicone under my ruler so I dont have to use as much pressure. I have some left and am only too happy to send some to you to help your painful hands. If you want to email me with your address.I will send some.

    morning Sue
Today's gift is quite sumptuous and just the thing to finish the working week (for those who have to have that awful word in their vocab).
i love just the hint of pale green. For years and years I wouldn't wear any shade of green as it was my school uniform colour. Now -just a few yeas down the line!! (lol)- I love it.
These dies are just so much better in real life but today's gift would suit any occasion.
Cleaning Day today - hopefully with a little crafting though I have to face my GP's reception to do battle as they are stopping paper prescriptions. Apparently you place your order and then it is transferred to a Chemist where you pick up your meds. I already fall foul of the current system as I cannot order on-line when I need more than one prescription at once because of going away. Oh well happy days. Whatever happened to talking to your lovely GP and leaving with whatever you need!! Norah I think I'm ranting a little - age or what?-
Take care everyone. Have a good weekend and see you tomorrow.

  73. Hi Sue, What a Awesome, Beautiful Card, I have The Dies and I'm just starting to collect The Stamps that match and the great thing is about your Stamps and Creative Expression they are excellent value.
I Love Buckle Cards, I really Love The Illusion Embossing Folder, it really stands out on your Coconut White Card.
I really like how you've used The Fabulous Iced Snow to go around the edges, Love The Venetian Spiral Stamp that goes so well with the Die that you've used from The Italian Decorative Frames Collection. I love how you've stamped onto The Soft Green Card, then coloured parts in with Shabby Shutters Distress Pen, then placed on a sticky sheet, then you've cut it out, then the best is yet to come! you removed the sticky sheet and covered using "The Awesome Iced Snow" just Love It. I understand what you mean about The Small Dies to thread your tag through to create your Buckle The Photography shows this of Perfect.
Stunning, Beautiful Card as always Just Love it!

  79. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
What a different card yet again today. It's a buckle card with a twist today with the Calabria die cut behind the circle on top. It's different and takes the eyes to see the different layers that has been put together. The shabby shutters is a soft sort of green, a lovely colour. Thank you Sue for the different ideas yet again. Can't wait until your back on our television screens again, but i can understand you wanting to be home with your mum. Please give her extra cuddles from across the ocean.
Yesterdays card is i think the top of my all time favourites as it is just so beautiful. I can't even tell you what it is that i like most, it is just perfect in combination of colour and die work. Exquisite.
I had to go to Falkirk early to meet my friend yesterday at Dunelm, and came back absolutely shattered. I don't know whose legs i came home with, but they are definitely worse than mine as they wouldn't stand up on their own two feet. It could have something to do with the flight of stairs that i had to climb to get to the cafe. You know these films, adverts that they slow everything down into slow motion , well that was me with out the addition of camera trickery. The lift was getting serviced, so hence out of order. That is the reason i didn't get blogging yesterday to you all, i am still jiggered this morning. Think that an extra 40 winks are called for when Rory goes to the school. And yes i am very proud of my son and how he is turning out to be a loving, lovely, kind, mannerable young man that i can take anywhere (almost)with forward planning and time to let things sort themselves out in his brain as to what to do. I get a kiss every morning before going to school and a cuddle to see me through the day with my orders to put my alarm on as on my own in the house and Tia is just no good with getting a glass of water for me or helping me up. I think she is trying out to be a traffic island to go in and out of the kitchen, but although a good idea in theory,in practice she is a bit to broad on the beam to get past either way.
That's my hills getting their faces washed again today and the weeds getting fresh water to grow, so i will leave you all today with gentle hugs for our friends that are fragile in any way. I hope that the sun can shine where you are and if not outside, i hope it does from inside out.
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

  80. God morning Sue & lovely blog friends,
Lovely card today Sue, for some reason it reminds me of 'mojito' with the hint of mint and the iced snow like the frosting on a cocktail glass, really pretty!
Sue, seems like you have been away forever, missing you!
Cameeli, I too wish you lived nearer, I would love to meet up with you for coffee and crafting, I bet there would be some right giggles, I am so pleased I got yo meet you at Ally Pally, it was like talking to a friend I gad known for years! Sending you a big hug xx
Jean, I hope the sun continues to shine for Makenzie's sports say, (with 4 children I have had my share of wet sports days)!it makes me laugh how they have now changed the way the run sports day so that there are no 'losers', I agree it's a hard thing to deal with but it's a lesson of life I believe! (I was always a loser) !haha
Clare W glad your paper sorting has worked out well, you are so right about the 'border piercing die" what a fab invention, my problem is that sometimes the holes were different sizes, so I was obviously putting different pressure on, I got one of the piercing tools that Sue has now, it looks like a dart without the flights on, it has a consistent width end, so that really helps, enjoy sorting you craft room, I Did mine on Monday, it's so lovely walking in there and seeing everything in it's place, I have to have a re-think about ribbon storage as I keep finding trails of all over the house, or I catch sight of a kitten running off with ribbon trailing behind it!
Steph, I do hope you are feeling brighter every day x
Mrs B your button tin must be huge, my mum still has on, it's in an old tea tin, been the same buttons in there for years, something quite calming tipping them all out to sort.
Norah, hope you are well my little cherub also hooper your lovely hills are in full view and glowing in the son (sounds a bit naughty) I can't share the image in my mind! Haha
Gail, huge hugs to you at this very difficult time x

  114. Hi everyone,
I's me again and I feel like Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music when she's praying with the children in her bedroom and the thunderstorm is going on and she forgets one child's name, then he pops up and she remembers it (I've forgotten, is it Frederick?)

Well ITA I looked at yesterday's blog and I sometimes have trouble with the video stopping. I've tried all sorts and found that the best remedy is just to leave it and eventually it starts again!

I usually do some die cutting or clearing up while I'm waiting so that I feel as though I'm doing something useful!
    Love Maureen xx

  115. Such a beautiful card Sue!

I like everything about this card and although I'm not usually one for green, the green you've used on this card is lovely.

    Happy Crafting!!! :) X X

  116. Hi Sue,
A lovely buckle card today, subtle colours and lovely texture. The illusion embossing folder is so gorgeous and detailed, you almost don't want to cover it up!
I bought an airbrush recently and tried spraying card embossed with the art deco folder, just spraying from one side. It enhanced the 3D effect and added colour without losing any detail. I love it! So I will have to try it out on the other folders too.

  124. Hi Sue,
Hello to to all lovely crafting friends!
Sue, I think today's card is lovely I too have issues with green because of a school uniform - but that was bottle green! This is such a lovely soft shade. Your buckle looks gorgeous and I love the iced snow for a bit of bling!
Another lovely warm day here but not so much sun as yesterday .
I seem to have got us talking about button tins! My Grandmas and Mum had them too. I loved playing with them. Grandma had hers in a biscuit tin with our Queen's parents on the front! Mum had hers in a tin from the Queen's Coronation! Memories eh!
However all buttons tidied in correct compartment - there were bits of carpet, crumbs and goodness knows what all else in the box!
Ivonka - Yvonne - have a lovely weekend in Prague.
Dawn - enjoy the birthday party - your card will be a big hit I'm sure.
Maureen - pleased to hear your friend is slowly improving. Take care.
Sandra - agree with you about Sports Day - I couldn't run for toffee. Never won a race in my life - don't feel deprived. It makes you wonder why there is only one gold medal winner at events at the Olympics! Lol !
    Jean enjoy Mackenzie's sports day!
Sending love and best wishes to all who are going through tough times, whether with ill health or bereavement , including, Steph, Norah, Pam, Tres, Tina ,Julie , Cazzie and anyone I may have forgotten x
Special hugs to Gail - so very sorry - you going through a really tough time. x
Hugs to everyone and a special hug for Sue, without whom we'd never have got together! x

  125. Hi Sue and all Wilsonettes. Hope the weather is kinder today for you Sue (all I can say is at least its a 'warm' rain) !if that makes sense : 0
CLARE. W. Left a message at the end of your comment.
Cam, boy how lovely would it be to have a Wilsonette Day, ooooo so much fun and laughter, what a wonderful medicine.
Oh Gail, Im feeling your sorrow as much as I can at this horrible unfair time for you. If Icould reach out and hug you I would.
Pam, Id do the same for you also love.
Tina, there is a big hug here for you too.
Margaret Corgie Owner - THANK YOU Soooo much : ) xx

Now then Sue, either im not all that observant or just a little dumb but have you changed the top half of your blog and added other products that you use ? Only just noticed, sorry.
What can I say about today's stunning card, I was hoping you would let us know the shade of green on your card, but as its a 'stash' piece of card I wouldn't expect you to remember. Yipee, I have the Italian decorative frames but our daughters wedding card will be the 1st card I make with it. Special die for a special young woman. Her gown is hanging in my craft room so it can hang fully and 'breath' before it goes to her hotel on the 25th. I could shed a tear each time.I look at it. Daddy is not allowed in there, so had to drop my wish list ( accidentally on purpose) a Iwas bringing out my stamp images to shade in : 0 was that naughty ? Well its our anniversary Monday so he needs idea's LOL.
So after looking at sheer beauty just, I need to add a couple more items to it ! The pale green card adds to the delicacy of the card and with the subtle sprinkle of twinkles, well its just another Sue W.O.W.
Margaret ( I think - id love to be air brushed LOL) can I use it for our daughters wedding photo's please.
Enough rambling, must be the extra meds, so I'll send love n hugs to you all and wish you a good Friday 13th !! No flakes, buttons or embossing powders today me thinks : /

    Smile.

  128. Hello Sue. It's a scorcher here today so this card is lovely and helps to make me think cool fresh thoughts. Such a clever technique for making the buckle. Dare I say it - and not a bow in sight - yea! xx Maggie (better without a bow)

  129. Hi Sue

I love the cool tones on this card, the 'icing' on the foreground stamp is inspired.

It's certainly sunny Suffolk today, it's 28 degrees in here with the fan going and windows open. I need to get into the craft area before the sun comes around to the big, uncurtained window and do my nephews card for his birthday tomorrow. He'll be 12 so I won't be going down the sophisticated route like Sue's cards!

With that in mind I wish you all a safe Friday 13th... I'd better be careful with the guillotine! :-D

    Crafty hugs to all

  132. Hi Sue. This is a really lovely card today !! I love these dies and I think I have everything to make this card except the stamp !! I think I could make my own version of this lovely buckle card. I love the colours you have used, they are nice and summery. I think instead of the stamped focal point, maybe I could use one of your embossing folders on that middle part, and maybe some gilding wax too !! I love the bling you have added to your card to, it gives a wonderful effect, really pretty !! Thank you Sue for sharing another wonderful card today. I hope you have a lovely day today Sue. Sending you lots of love and hugs from Tres x x x Ps I can't wait to see you on TV next weekend !!

To Gail C, I am sorry you are going through such a difficult time with your brother being so ill. I am sending you both lots of love and hugs today from Tres x x x

Sending lots of love to Pam, Cameeli, Norah, Steph, Tina, Lynne M and Tilly and Cully fur babies, Yorkielass, Linda Brock, Lindsey, and Myra, and Sandra and little Bella and Milo and anyone else I have forgotten. Sorry I cannot remember everyone's name, but you know who you are !! Sorry !!

To all the wonderful Wilsonettes, I hope everyone has a lovely day today. Lots of love Tres x x x

  134. Hi Sue, beautiful card, love the green /white combo. The iced snow adds a brilliant bit of bling. Great buckles. Lol lynne m x x x

Poochies driving me up the wall and round the bend. Decided it was time to finish putting everything away in the new craftroom. It took hours and hours cuz pesky critters wanted to help so everytime I went to put something in its place they were there first so I had to stop , move them, then carry on. It was hot and hard work I must say. Loving the weeds hasn't worked, they are still only interested in pulling up the plants. I ache so much that I haven't got the energy to put the blasted flowers back. Hoping to get it done before hubby gets home .

Sending massive hugs and lol to all my "Wilsonette" friends , this is truly the bestest blog. Lol lynne , tilly and cully ( aka pesky critters) x x x x
