Thanks So Much

Hi crafters!  I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  The weather has been rather dull here for the past few days so I have gotten quite a bit of crafting done at least!  Today's card has actually undergone a small change since it was originally shown on Create & Craft.  Originally, I cut my Filigree bow out of felt and I was very surprised that I was actually able to do it as I have tried to do other detailed dies and they just fall apart before you can even get them out of the die.  The bow, however, did die cut and assemble fine, but it was handled so much at the Ally Pally show that it ended up tearing so I replaced it with this Lattice bow for my pictures here.  I started with the insert piece from the Galicia die from the Spanish collection and cut it out of Chestnut card.  I added in the cutting edge around it and embossed the entire piece to add the extra detail.  I matted it with a piece of white card behind it to show off the detail.  To the bottom of this, I added a strip of aqua card which I scored every quarter of an inch.  I cut two Italian borders, one out of chestnut brown and one out of aqua card and glued them off set along the aqua strip.  I stamped the Justrite Baking Label in Coffee Archival on aqua card, added my sentiment and cut it out with the matching Vintage tag die.  I inked it lightly with Aqua Adirondack ink before removing it from the die.  I added it to the centre of my die cut insert piece using foam mounting tape.  I made a double bow using the Lattice bow die out of aqua cardstock and added it to the centre of the offset borders with some white tulle.  I did a bit of thin matting with aqua and chestnut brown and sandwiched them between a pierced coconut white mat and a final white mat.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size.   I have included a few pictures of the orignal felt bow at the bottom for you.   All for now, Sue x

    Hi Sue,
Lovely card - that bow is gorgeous. Hadn't even considered once making it from felt but thank you for showing us.
As I'm not a brown person but love the design, will try it in different colour combos.
We're having "crafty" weather in Chester, too. Yippeee (albeit the rain could really stop now)
    Have a really good week.

  14. Good morning Sue,
This card is just right, I love the bow dies, they were the first of your dies that I bought.
I have cut them in felt and as you say you have to handle them very carefully.
Update on my brother he was a bit brighter yesterday, and my mum and sister went to visit him . He had said no visitors, just his wife and daughter, until then.
I'm so hoping to get down to see him as soon as possible, please keep saying your prayers for him!

I love the chestnut and aqua together it's a nice combination. The bow looks nice in card and felt, I have cut the bow out of felt and was amazed how easy it was to cut. You have to be very careful when handling though. I find all the insert dies from your Spanish sets so versatile and I they mix with any makes of dies you already have in your craft stash.

  81. Hi Sue,
And all Wilsonettes, from sunny South Wales.
What an unusual colour combination today. I hardly ever use brown, unless it's for a male card or something grunge/steampunk inspired. Love the lacy bow in soft blue felt. I've used iron on interfacing when I cut out something delicate, to give it more support. It takes a few passes to cut, but helps keep those intricate pieces in one for longer.

Another stunning card today. I do love your dies and bows. The bows just finish off a card. Could do this one for a male without the bow of course. MRS B thanks for suggesting Uffington White Horse hill. I don't think they have been
there. They'll be back 2 or 3 days before we go to Austria, so I'll mention it. Must make a note to myself to remember. I hadn't even thought of that. Special hugs to Pam, Lancs Steph and Norah today.Good luck with Ofsted Cameeli my son hates it when they come. My daughter in law was offered a place in a school in Cowley to train to be a primary teacher. However, she had to turn it down as the school wouldn't let her start at 8.30, because she had to take small children to school in Faringdon. Although a lot of schools in Oxfordshire do, they just set the classroom up after lessons instead of in the morning.

    Morning Sue,
Really beautiful card love, the spanish collection and ordered it some time ago it really makes my cards ping!!

Sorry the weather is a bit dull, I find even when the sun shines a little it cheers me up.

Is anyone planning on going to the Ham fair on the 14th June? I am hoping to make enough cards, painted pots, boxes for a stall, I might be able to perudade my younger sister to bring her jewlellery too. Its usually lots of fun with all kinds of stalls, bric-a-brac, tombola, catering and pert show, most of the money raised goes to good causes.

Well must be off a long hard week ahead.

  105. Love the layout but not too keen on the colour combo. I would probably have chosen a darker brown but then sometimes it's good to mix it up a bit and try out different colours. Love the dies and can't wait for the Christmas release! xx

  109. Hi Sue, Yet Another Awesome Card! I Love The Colour Combination of "Aqua and The Chestnut" I so Love Dark Colours and putting it with This Soft Aqua really works for me, you said at the beginning of the year you wanted to think out of the Box! and I love it as that's just what your doing.
The Colours are Perfect, So Rich together and looking at the close up shots they give a better view.
The Felt Bow looks Stunning in your Close Up Shot, I Love Galicia Die from your Spanish Collection, I really Love how you've brought out all The Embossed Detail.
I Love the Sentiment used from JustRite Baking Labels Set. I Love The Second Bow you had to make as I'm extremely lucky this is "The Die Set" I won as a Gift when you were sharing all those Wonderful Gifts with us when you first introduced your Dies, and it's a delight to cut no need for Wax Paper, in fact so many of your Dies I find I don't need Wax Paper they cut like a dream!
Sue Thanks For Sharing and The Daily Inspiration, and The Fabulous Close Up Shots.

  124. Hi Sue,
I too like today's card a lot! The filigree bow was the first I bought and it did cut beautifully out of felt ,however as you say yours got a lot of handling! Not sure I'd get today's bow to work in felt! Might be a step to far . Still got a bit of headache but I thought today's bow was card. Sorry it may just be my brain today!
I love what you do with the borders! Thanks so much for all the inspiration you give . It does really help! Honest!
Forgot it was Mothers Day in the States yesterday . Do hope you had a lovely day x.
Jackie - will have a look for your card - get back later.
Steph, - you never cease to amaze me! You are so caring of others and yet suffer so much more yourself! Thanks for sending me your love and thoughts which I read around midnight! I slept all day! Hope you are even a bit better today. Xx
Thanks too to Alison Julie and sorry if I've missed anyone - it meant a lot . X Lynne x

Such a lovely blog - I keep repeating that!
Gail still thinking about you and hoping your brother will feel strong enough to see all his family very soon . I'll keep praying for him and for the rest of the family x.
I'm supposed to craft with children after school today - so better shake myself a bit!

  128. Hi Sue. Ooooh this is just beautiful !! Well some bloggers say they don't like your colour combo, but I do !! I think it is lovely !! It think the chestnut card looks great with the Aqua. How did you know I just received my Aqua coloured card stock on Saturday ? It is such a beautiful colour and goes fab with Peacock Feathers Distress ink !! I was actually going to make a card with it today after getting over a busy weekend. My dad's favourite colour is blue in any shade and this card would be perfect for Fathers Day ( without a bow.)
I do love your bow though and it looks great in felt to.
I love those border dies. More dies for my huge great wish list !!
Sorry the weather has not been good for you in Florida Sue, but like you said it is perfect craft weather !! It has not been that good here also in Kent over the weekend.
I hope you had a good Mothers Day in Florida. Lots of love to you Sue, love Tres x x x

To Gail C, I am thinking of you and sending you and your family lots of love at this difficult time. Love and hugs, Tres x x x

I really like you colour combination today and of course your lovely card.
Sorry to hear the weather in Florida has been a bit dull but expect it is still a lot warmer than here. We have family in Atlanta who say it is cool when it is in the mid 70's F when we are perfectly happy with those temperatures when we visit! 100 degrees F when we were in Denver last year before going down to Atlanta was just too hot for us now we are older. We just longed for those cooler days!
It is wonderful what those lovely hot temperatures in Colorado and Georgia do for my aches and pains!!
