Hi crafters! I thought I would show you another card made using my new die line. This one features the centre die from the San Francisco set in the California Collection. It is truly an easy card to put together as the dies do all the work. Out of coconut white card, I cut six die cuts from the San Francisco. Three of them I left completely whole and the rest of them were cut up either in half or in quarters. I selected a piece of dusty rose card from my stash and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet. I peeled the backing paper off to reveal the sticky layer and began working from the corner filling in with my die cuts. I tried to leave about the same amount of space between the die cuts as I laid them on to the sticky sheet. I used the waxy backing paper and laid it on top once they were all in place to help burnish them down well. Once that was done, I filled in the sticky areas with Iced Snow and burnished it well before removing the excess. I matted it with white then a dusty rose layer. I used the rose felt from our Vintage Felt pack and cut an inch wide strip about nine inches long. I folded it in half and glued the edges with Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue. I nipped into the strip with my scissors at intervals that were about every quarter inch all the way along the strip. I used more glue along the bottom and then rolled it to make my flower. I seated the flower on a white seam binding bow and added in pieces of white foliage cut from my Faux Quilled leaves. I finished it with some pearl strings, twine and a stick pin. I stamped a sentiment and cut it into a small tag and tucked the end under my flower. A double white pierced mat layer finished it off in my usual style. I love the way you can just use a decorative die cut and get such a pretty background from it. The card hardly needs anything else, don't you agree? The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 7 3/4" in size. All for now, Sue x
Good Morning Sue, perfect cards for me today. I really like the Californian collection.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteLove the card today and you're correct, the dies do all of the work - they are fabulous. I had a little chuckle to myself when Sam was on with Dawn Bibby yesterday who was asking about your faux quilled leaves and where could she get the die! Steph - took your advice yesterday and went to the urgent care centre as my knee was hurting more. After an x ray there is a possibility that there might be a slight break in the bone where they've attached the prosthesis! Have to go to the fracture clinic today to see about it! Love and hugs to everyone who needs one. Alison xxx
Quite agree Sue - this card doesn't need anything else. Why cover such a pretty background?!! This is a really good idea and appears quite quick to make.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, this is so pretty! I have held off buying any dies until I get to Ally Pally as I haven't been able to make up my mind..would like them all, but I figured that when I get there and see them I will be able to decided on what to start with..wish me luck :) Carole Z X
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteStunnero, that's what this is. I really love that technique with the iced snow and don't have to say anything about your dies as you know how I feel about them. (Yes, wonderful every one of them).
Colours in that are beautiful, I might come up with a version slightly different - we'll see.
Felt rose is to die for.
Hugs, Rose
Lovely card, and must try this one as I use this die a lot.one of my favourites. Have a good day everyone x x

ReplyDeletefrom a very foggy day here in Sheffieldl. It looks more like a November morning than the end of March.
Today's gift so simple but oh so elegant it shouts 'here I am' in the nicest possible way.
I love today's colour scheme and I have to admit to never thinking of using dies as a background and a focal element together.
Will definitely will be giving today's gift a try out.
See you tomorow.
Have to do a bday card in double quick time today (someone said last night -not mentioning any names - that he needed a card today!!!) and yes you've guessed it's for one of his male colleagues.
Janet x
I hope you get on ok at fracture clinic & whatever they say it's easily treatable The card is stunning What a lovely idea I just know that I'll get in a tangle trying to keep the die cuts straight and similar distances apart! Will definitely give it a go with say one die cut & beads or glitter or flakes
ReplyDeleteVery elegant and clean crisp design. There are others of your dies this might work with too so going to have a look at those I purchased and see if I can adapt your design. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I had to get up at stupid o'clock to take hubby to the station and have a busy day ahead of me as I plan to paint the bedroom while he is away. Thought I had better check in before I get carried away with the paint brush:-)
ReplyDeleteLove today's card and although I don't have this die I think I will try something with a similar shaped one. Love the felt rose and with the bow and leaves it is just beautiful.
Norah's hills were shrouded in mist at (gulp )6am, but it is looking promising for a nice day so I hope everyone has a sunny start to their week.

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, morning wonderful Wilsonettes, hope you all slept well and feeling ok . Alison, hope all goes ok at fracture clinic so glad you went to seek advise, will wait to read the outcome. Hope all Mom's had a lovely day yesterday, it made my day to see our daughter and future hubby's face light up when they saw their invites, I can now breath again ! Next major headache - MOTB outfit !!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first clicked onto your card Sue it loiked like a stamp on kraft card, how amazing are the close up pictures, and I then watched it come to life, the dies are so perfect in every way, Im so looking forward to building up my collection,no matter how long it takes I'll get there !
Thanks to Tina and you lovely ladies that offered suggestions re my farmers cow and sheep wedding card I was so grateful you spared your time to offer help. I really want to make an elegant card which is why im finding it hard, maybe the decorative floral corners with a silhouette of a cow under one side (or udder one side) had to do that sorry : ) and a sheep under the other corner ? I just want them to be subtle and not in your face so to speak ! Oooo I dont know ! Sue ???
Well I must get sorted for the day and whatever it decides to throw at me.
Sending friendly gentle hugs to those of you that need them today.
Love you.
Lancashire Steph xx
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteNot to sure about the colour on this one - think it may just be the way it's showing on my screen. Love the dies and I used your iced snow technique on my Mum's Mother's Day card - it looked fab over a stamped image in real life so thank you for sharing.

Hi Sue,

Good morning Sue and all my fellow Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to show really just using the one die, as for any of us that not as fortunate to have lots of your wonderful dies Sue, this shows just what can be achieved still making a beautiful card. I know technically you have the flower die but that could easily be a bought embellishment. Your inspiration knows no bounds Sue as yesterdays little chaps showed, soooo cute. Looking out on a lovely day cold, but lovely with what looks like one of my hills smoking, hee hee hee. Glad they decided to return on their own accord as the thought of contacting mountain rescue and to hear them laughing at me again, i did not want. What's the point in having mountain rescue if they can't rescue little hills? They can rescue big mountains, so little hills should be a breeze for them i would have thought. This is going to be a sleepy day for me as this bones, muscles and knackeredness is all taking it's toll. Tres, flower i can really sympathize with you being a fellow sufferer, just got to take the bad days with the good, but it would be nice if the good lasted longer than the bad instead of the other way around, take it easy flower.
Alison, sorry this is me just finding out about your poor knee, i am so sorry you have done yet more damage to yourself, please stop the gymnastics the now until the fracture heals which will probably take a wee while just because it is small, it'll decide to be thrawn about it and take it's own sweet time about it. I was just thinking to my self there about leaving the acrobatics and breaks to us professional knackered bone breakers and then it occurred to me that maybe if i was one of them i wouldn't do as much damage to myself. MMMMMH need to take up new hobby on self preservation me thinks. Take care everyone with hugs and prayers to all my dear friends who need them. Hopefully i will see you all tomorrow,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Brilliant way to use such a pretty die. I guess the trickiest bit was spacing out the die cuts. 'The Dusty Rose' is looking more 'Blush' on my screen, but I know it's a lovely colour, just right for that gorgeous felt rose.

ReplyDeleteHi everyone,
ReplyDeleteJust an update. Thanks to everyone for the kind messages. Good news, there is not a break or crack in the bone which is really good news and apparently the artificial knee joint has handled the fall better than the rest of my leg! It will take about 3 -4 weeks for my leg/ knee to recover properly , so no golf for me at the moment. Oh well, I'll just have to craft instead! Love to everyone, Alison xxx

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card as usual, the iced snow is one I keep reaching for, it transforms any card, but now everyone wants to use it, I think I'll have to hide it.
Take care

Hi Sue, A beautiful card, yet again. Love the detail. Hugs, Carol S.xx
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this card, must try to do it but I feel that I will end up with everything stuck in the wrong places, and not lovely and even like this. Can but try though.

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteStunning card today, my son gave me a voucher to buy a Sue Wilson die yesterday, and I am going to hold on to it until I see some more demo's of your beautiful cards using your dies.
Helen how lucky are you to still have your mum , and she sounds like a lovely characterful lady, I only hope I can say I'm over 21 when I am 90.
Alison, I joked about your tall dark stranger coming to your rescue, but had no idea it would turn out so badly for you. I hope they can sort this out for you with no more surgery, please keep us all informed about your day at the fracture clinic.
Time for bed:- Say goodnight dick.
"Night dick." ( not offensive, from Rowan and Martin's Laughing series ). Good night blog friends.ZZZZzzzzzz
Kind regards:-)

Oh so sparkly. I'm seeing a rust colour - it's lovely. I wouldn't have though of using the die cuts like this. Must try the felt flower again - made a right mess of it last time.
ReplyDeleteSmiling at the reminder of R & M's Laugh-in. 60's/70's ???
