Welcome Spring

Hi Bloggers!  The title is more of an invitation than anything! Well, here's hoping at least!LOL  I just loved these cute bunnies, so sort of Beatrix Potter looking I think.  This is from my last shows using the Justrite stamp set called Welcome Spring.  With Easter right around the corner, I thought I should post of few of these for you to see.  I started with paper from the Teresa Collins paper pack in the aqua colour.  I used the script for the background piece then created a side border using the coordinating harlequin print. For the main focal element I used the coordinating zigzag border pattern and stamped my sentiment in the lower corner.  I added an edge of Iced Snow to this piece as an embellishment.  On a separate piece of coconut white card, I stamped both bunnies and the basket.  The basket stamp is empty but there are a few other stamps that can be used to fill it up.  I selected the floral stamp and added it to the basket.  I coloured all the pieces with Distress markers and cut them out by hand.(yes that is still done! LOL)  I always run a black marker around the edges when I hand cut which takes away that unsightly white edge.  I added some Diamond Sprinkles to the flower centres and to the pink bow on the bunny.  I cut a Gold Element Four die and inked it with an aqua Adirondack pad through the die.  I mounted it on foam in the middle of the card and added my basket and one of the bunnies.  I mounted the other bunny below it.  I added a messy bow tied from turquoise seam binding and an aqua Bakers Twine bow before adding a small pearl embellishment to the centre.  I added a double white mat to the card and finished it with Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue dots around the edge.  So sweet, isn't it!  Finished dimensions are
7 1/2" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  35. Hi Sue. What a wonderful Spring/Easter/Anytime card. Those rabbits are so cute. I love the glitter/micro beading technique. I have been rather busy over the weekend and have only this morning had time to catch up on the comments left on Sat and Sunday. Congratulations to Norah, they say things come in 3's so fingers crossed for you :) Sue, is there a way to get a £ donation to Nick in Bulgaria? As Sandy H said it would be cheaper, and maybe more useful, to send him money/vouchers. What a shame C & C don't allow overseas entries, as they are happy to accept overseas orders! They would have know where the entry came from and should have not let Nick enter in the first place. How unkind. Sending Pam a hug, I hope you are bearing up x. Take care.

If only I was blessed with an artistic creative brain my vrafting problems would be something in the past ! I have this beautiful, pretty stamp set, so many to chose from, a great price, so why cant my brain cell see the potential ???!!! This stamp set is all I should have needed for my Easter cards for market but my brain couldnt see it, although I did sell a few (made with the help of Sue's lovely stamps I wish Id got todays very pretty card on last weeks blog just to give me a helping hand. Oh I WISH I had an artistic cell which gave me the immagination to see a card in my minds eye. Im hopeless.
SO many ladies of my age (older than 40 not yet 60) asked me for cards with Mothering Sunday rather than MD. It seems our 'older' generation prefer tradition and think it should be classed as Mothering Sunday - Sue, any thoughts about stamps for Christenings and a Mothering Sunday Singles Stamp ? Maybe a basket of flowers or large bouquet with Mothering Sunday in the sentiment, and maybe a Christening Singles as it is quite a time for celebration here in the UK. Have an order for a gift bag for such an occassion - I love decorating large gift bags. Also a wedding card for a farmer getting wed he works on a dairy farm, the bride to be farms sheep, yep you guessed it -.a wedding card to incorporate both animals ! Will someone explain to me why I open my BIG stupid mouth please ? I ask for problems to attract themselves to me !
Cassie made her first entrance into the market world yesterday, thank goodness it was a dry day, and held in a large country park ( I have my table in the coffee barn) so at least I stay warm (ish) but Mr Lancashire went round n round n round that park from 10 -.2pm with her as it attracts so many dog walkers and the only time she had been in company of dogs was on the streets, or in kennels so she had the perfect day and had breakfast al fresco as we didnt want her being poorly in the car on the way ! I still find it hard with a dog again, and miss my boy so much it hurts so bad, but its helped Mr Lancashire smile again.
I hope all our lovely ladies had a lovely weekend you all deserve the best.
Be careful Cam. Janet hope your dear little face is recovering. Cuddles for Pam and Tina.
    Hugs to you all.

  96. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
What a beautiful day to have for your lovely card Sue. I think that this could be for a thinking of you card, mothers day card for those special "mum's" that we all seem to have that have inherited us, Or a new baby with the right sentiment on it. I'm hopeless at pulling papers together for a good look, but i'm hopeless at pulling clothes together for a good look that's why twinsets were invented as i just need a bottom then to finish it off.
Glad to see Cameeli that you are SLOWLY taking your lovely walk yesterday as there is nothing like a lovely walk in a beautiful park after the showers everything would look so bright and fresh as if brand new. But please don't go daft with the exercise as you will still look the most beautiful grooms' mum on your son's wedding day and he will be no less proud of you than you are off him. Hi Pam, i hope you getting stronger by each passing day flower as you in our minds, hearts and prayers.
Clare you keep on your high for as long as you like as you deserve it flower. I once was entered by my college art teacher into a show up here and i won, but the pilluck entered it wrongly, he got it back to front so the back was what the judges seen ofthe embroidery of my profile that we had to do as part of our hairdressing studies. I was 16 at the time and i was over the moon about it. My college year remains one of the happiest of my memories.
Rosemarie, seeing your beautiful daughter being married, there is always another year for the Ally Pally.
Oh Steph, you have just made my day with the Mothering Sunday requests as i thought i was the only old fashioned under 50 that still calls it by it's rightful name. I'm glad that Miss Cassie has brought Mr. Lancs twinkle back to his eye again. You never forget your past loves as they are all different and really you wouldn't want her to be the same as your wee "lad", as he was special in his own way too. Little miss will in time work her magic on you to love her for being Cassie and that retains your memories of the past. I have Tia Maria, a daft chocolate lab who doesn't know how to bark, but she is right beside me when i am having a bad day and follows me where ever i go keeping a check. Who needs kids to check up on you the whole time when you can have a Tia.
From a glorious but cold day up here in Glenochil where you can make out every detail on my hills, i wish you all a great day,
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah Glenochil

  114. Hi Sue, a lovely bright card to suit the day. I am in the middle of my Easter cards and this has given me some more inspiration as I never like to make two cards quite the same.
A frosty start but now there are clear blue skies and lovely sunshine. A gentle breeze today is a welcome change from the gale force winds we have been having.
Wishing everyone a bright and happy week.

  117. Hi Sue
    Hi Everyone,
What a lovely card! Brought a smile to my face this morning . I do love the bunny with "attitude" - gorgeous eyes! Nice to see bunnies that look like bunnies! Not over stylised and not pink! The whole card is so springlike. Have these papers and use them lots.
Would love to be going to Ally Pally but too far away. Would be super to meet some other Wilsonettes. Hope you all have a lovely time. To meet Sue, would be fantastic !
Steph ,pleased Cassie doing well. I have a friend who gets annoyed if I say Mothers Day instead of Mothering Sunday, however, as you say cards don't say that any more.
Glad you were able to have a walk in the sunshine yesterday, Cameeli.
Lovely day here today too. I craft with children after school each Monday and yes today we make Mother's Day cards! I try to keep it simple - but the younger ones want to stick everything on! However it's their card in the end and their little masterpiece!
Enjoy this lovely weather if you can,
Love to Pam and all who are going through difficult times.
    Love Myra

  118. Hi Sue I Love Today's Card I'm a sucker for Teresa Collins Papers they're Fantastic Colours and I really Love all the different choices. I so Love this Card as it reminds me of Spring at last until I got up and noticed the Frost and Fog, but now Sun shining through so gradually going away, I just Love your Colouring and Shading I've used Copic Pens for the past four years and still struggle with shading. I really thought the Stamp came with Flowers, so for you to add them looks Stunning, I Love JustRite Stamps so much, I've quite a collection. I Love those cute rabbits I so love the one with the Bow the eyes seem to say it all, just wonderful, This Card is Truly Awesome, thanks for sharing all your tips and techniques Sue.
Take Care Sue Love and Hugs from Sam x

  119. Afternoon Sue and all the wilsonettes out there. Lovely card, so bright and vibrant a little like today's weather, just quite chilly here today. Have had to spend the morning washing my very reluctant spaniel who found some undesirable fox droppings to have a lively roll in last night! I spent ages last night washing it off with a sponge, but he still stank, is this morning I had to drag him into the shower, he now looks sparkly clean and smells so much better, why is it dogs are attracted to the most horrendous things? Take care all, and don't walk too far cameeli. Xx

  124. Hi Sue,
Woke up to a lovely sunny but frosty morning so put on the walking gear and off we went happy in the knowledge that Spring seems to be just around the corner. Then lo and behold I open your blog and there's a card to support it. Lovely cute bunny which I must admit, I prefer to see on your card rather than eating the spring shoots in our garden. A lovely fresh, happy card. Hugs Pauline A x

I think the term 'mothering sunday' makes it easier to give a card to other special ladies in your life, like mother in law, stepmum, or special aunties.

  146. Hello Sue
Such a beautiful fresh looking card to herald Springs arrival, the colours and the papers are so lovely and those bunnies really are like Beatrix Potter's as you say. The one by the basket is so like Peter Rabbit even though he does not have his little blue jacket on, and the one with a glint in his eye looks just like Peter's cousin Benjamin. It goes without saying my favourite rabbits from her books which I often read at bedtime to my little grandson, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Warm wishes and hugs to those who need them.

  155. Hellooooooo Sue and all the Wilsonettes! Awww this is so cheerful and cute Sue. A real pick me up of Welcome Spring. Even though it's a bit fresh out there it's beautiful seeing all the crocus, daffodils and lovely sunshine! Those are gorgeous papers of Theresa Collinsons and they match up perfectly. My favourite labels four is looking elegante and I love those cute bunnies. It does look more effective drawing a black line them and your colouring is wonderful. They do remind you of Beatrix Potter. I used to work for the company that made the figures, Royal Doulton. I was there nearly 30 years until they closed the factory in 2002 and moved abroad. A nice reminder of all the good times that were had there.... Ooooo you lucky people who will be going to Ally Pally!! I've no doubt you will all have a wonderful day, meeting each other (and Sue!)and chatting. Fantastic! Sending love and hugs to you Pam and to Tina too. Cameeli, nice that you a had a slow walk around Isabella Plantation. Nice and steady x Janet, hope your blood tests will be ok x June, lovely to hear that you have blue tits now. Birds are wonderful to watch aren't they? Could be babies...... Shirley, how did your first day go? I must have missed your comment...(its an age thing...),Steph, how lovely that Cassie loved her day at Market world. It's understandable that you still hurt. Like Norah says, every pet is their own unique little person, just like we are. It will just take time.....x Norah, lovely to hear about Tia Maria. Animals are the most wonderful, loving and devoted pets ever! I have two budgies so I don't know how that works...Lol! Kidding! Moyra, it's lovely that you do a card class on a Monday for the children. These are our future little Phils and Sue Wilsons...! Lyndsey, glad that your cocker spaniel is smelling a bit better! Lol! Belinda, thinking of you with your sad news x Lacelady it won't be long until April 11th...hope you meet a Wilsonette there x Sending love and hugs to you all, night night and take care xx Love Karen xx
