You're Amazing

Hi crafters!  I was having a bit of a play day when I made this card.  At first look, you might think that I had just stamped on to some blueish-purplish toned card, but that isn't at all what I did here.  I wasn't sure if I could do something that I had in mind, so when in doubt, give it a try is my motto.  After all, it is only a bit of card and a little time that you might lose if it doesn't turn out, right?  I started with a piece of coconut white card and covered it with a sticky self adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing off and exposed the sticky white card.  Using a mixture of Blue Sky and Violet Frost mica powder, I covered the exposed area.  Now this would have been easier if I had just started with a piece of card this colour, but that was the problem, I wanted to use this sort of colour, but didn't have anything close to it.  I easily created the colour that I wanted this way, but then I wasn't sure whether I could continue the rest of the project in the way that I wanted.  Turns out it isn't a problem at all.  I used an anti static pad then used the Moroccan Lattice background stamp by Justrite and inked it with clear perfect medium and stamped it on my mica powdered background piece.  I used black embossing powder and heat embossed it.  I was concerned that the heat embossing would cause the sticky sheet to shrivel, but it didn't bother it at all (mind you, I didn't let the heat sit too long in any one area, why tempt fate!)  I decided to frame it using the Grand Large Labels.  I cut a smaller white one, then added the larger frame in black.  I used one of the in between sizes to emboss a bit of detail into the frame (I do this a lot as I love the way it looks).  The cut corner design of this label is perfect for pearls in the corners so they just had to be added.  I used the Spiral Blossoms four to cut a flower in white.  I rolled it to completion and added some leaves and swirls to accompany it.  The sentiment (Bold Sentiments by Creative Expressions) was stamped and cut into a strip and I seated the flower on the end of it.  I finished the card with some white and black mat layers before added my final double white pierced mats.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8" in size.

Now for my extra surprise.  I had meant to add in another card on the Wednesday giveaway this week, but I forgot about it until Friday.  I figured it wasn't too late to add it in with this weeks giveaway so I just pulled an extra winner from the lot of comments left on Wednesday.  The second card is the one shown at the bottom of the post (and was originally put on the blog Dec. 23rd).  So the winner of the (original) Wednesday Card Giveaway is:

Theresa Pace!!!

And the winner of the added second card is:

Tres!!!

Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your cards.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue and all wonderful Winter Wilsonettes. Start again !! Grr. Its sooo cold this morning so this Wilsonette is going nowhere, time for Mr Lancashire to start craft shopping should I need anything !
Sue, if that sheet didnt shrivel up for you I bet I could make it happen, that's what Im good at, if something shouldn't happen in craft terms I can make it happen ! Doesn't mean I wont try this though with some odd bits of adhesive sheet I keep for tiny buds and bits. I had no idea how beautiful mica powders are until I got one, thanks to my store under pricing a pot by £2 (their loss) and after using it once I was hooked, I was like a squirrel looking for berries but they only priced 1 little pot wrong - my loss !
If Id not got the right colour card Id change the whole colour scheme let alone experiment, but thank you for experimenting and trialing for us Sue so we dont have to : )
Happy Saturday to Theresa and Tres, Im so glad you will be in possession of the hottest gift in blog land. Enjoy.

Sue, this card comes straight back atcha - YOU ARE AMAZING.
    As is our Wilsonette family.
Have a lovely day whatever you have planned.

Not quite sure about today's gift but will definitely be giving the technique of powder and sticky paper a go - Thank you for your inspiration I never think of such things. I have powders and beads etc like all crafters but tend to only use them for their original use.

Morning Sue, A beautiful card, and loving how you have done the background, although like Steph mentioned, I was doing one of your baubles for a Christmas card and it had adhesive sheet on and then I had to stamp and heat emboss and I managed to shrivel it haha, but 'practice makes perfect' as the saying goes. When you used the anti static bag after using the mica powders, did the anti static bag pick up the mica powders ???
A beautiful card and gorgeous compilation.
    Have a lovely day.

  67. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
I think this beautiful card would be great for a man or for a woman who is not into all the lovely things that we like to do to a card. The labels die makes a beautiful frame around the central focus and embossing it with a matching die in the middle of the frame just gives it that professional finish to it.
Teresa and Tres fantastic news for you this Saturday, and if jigging around in happiness don't do yourself a mischief please as this is starting to look like Emergency Ward 10, with a some of us forever in the wars. Was just thinking that with our mishaps we could have been on the stage and earned some money in the process. I don't think the finest comedians could make up what is normal thrills and spills for some of us.
Have a great day everyone and hopefully i will see you all tomorrow.

  105. Hi Cameeli from Richmond. Thank you so much for your kind offer but the handle of my machine is fairly new. The part of the machine that was broken was a plastic bar inside it above the rollers that keep the rollers in line. My hubby has managed to glue it and staple it back together and at the moment it seems to be fine. If it does not last I will get a new one from create and craft as I can buy it on flexipay which we could just about manage. Just like you It is an essential and I could not be without it.
Thank you any way for such a kind offer.

  111. Hi Sue,
Two lovely cards today , love the background using the mica powders did you just brush the powder onto the sticky sheet using a paintbrush ? I have great problems with mica powders for some reason ( like Steph with guilding flakes lol) they never seem to work out for me . The Moroccan die looks amazing against that background , and the second card is just as lovely..
Congrats to both card winners !!

Have a lovely weekend With your family Sue,
    Hugs

  114. Lovely cards. Thanks for the tip about sticky sheet and heat embossing - I'd always assumed it was a complete no-no.

  115. Hi Sue
Both cards are lovely. The first one would be great for a guy minus the flower. The matting and layering really makes the card stand out. I like the colour combo on second card very rich. The flower is gorgeous too.
    Congratulations to winners!
