Special Day

Hello sweet friends!  Another of my "chockboard" cards.  This one is actually my favourite of them all I think.  I stamped the Floral Harvest Background by Justrite on to black card using a Snow Cap Adirondack pigment pad.  I cut the card a bit larger and added a white pencil line around the edge of it.  I tied some sky blue seam biding around the bottom of the card before I matted it on to our Sky Blue card.  I then matted it onto another mat of black with a faux stitched line around the edge.  The faux stitching was done with a white gel pen.  I stamped my sentiment from the JustRite Grand Sentiment set on to black card using a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed it with white detail powder.  I cut it out with one of the smaller dies in the Elegant Labels 8 set and then rubbed some Snow Cap pigment ink across it for a chalky effect.  I matted it on to a piece of sky blue card that I cut with Gold Labels Four.  I tied a messy bow out of the blue seam binding and added it to my seam binding ribbon.  I finished the bow with a black Dazzler.  Using the Justrite Bunting die, I cut one out of black card.  I used the Snow Cap ink on it while it was still in the die to highlight the centres.  I made small blue flowers using the Layered Scalloped Posey dies and added them between each flag and one on my sentiment tag.  Small 3mm white pearls were added to the centres of each flower.  I finished the card with a double black mat which I distressed with the edges of my scissors.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  32. Hi Sue,
I think I must be in the minority today as the chalkboard ( or chock bord) effect is not for me. I think it must go back to the days when I used to have to use chalk every day as a teacher before whiteboards came in! Like the layout though and love the little flowers.

  100. Hi Mrs W and all W'ettes. 4.20pm Friday and already dark : ( let's close the curtains on this dark dank day, and watch Mr Lancashire sitting on the floor with my paper cutter, cutting all my sentiments I typed and printed the other day, ready to matt up (the only piece of equipment he's allowed to touch) !!
Thank you ALL for being YOU, for being so thoughtful and caring, that's why I love your blog Sue, not only for all the amazing, wonderful cards and video's with help and many tips you share with us, but you have the most beautiful ladies here too. Im so fond of this card, its the perfect 'craft cheat' well for me anyway, everytime my hands shake as Im putting stamp to paper Im going to call it the 'chalk effect' regardless of the colour !!! Or 'chock' effect ! Sue Wilsons Choc Chalk Effect, what a mouthful, actually I think this beautiful invention would look quite pretty on any colour background (apart from white) !! I've still not 'picked myself up' enough to enjoy card making today - as I usually say " tomorrow is another day"
In the meantime Im sending all my love to Sue and to all my dear lovely beautiful friends here, hope you have had a good day, and it would be soooo lovely if we could all be together to watch Sue's shows, but there is nothing stopping us congregating here after each show to have a craft natter : ) about ALL the beautiful 'new toy's' our Star Leader shows us - I cant wait to see Sue produce her WOW's (Wonder Of Wilsons) from sunny California.
    Anyway love to everyone.

  120. Hello Sue. Such a different effect. Not sure it's for me. I don't really do grungy more the clean and simple type of girl. Still I appreciate the techniques, the style and the variety you give us so thank you for them all. xx Maggie (better without a bow)
