Happy Birthday Wishes

Good Sunday Morning all!  Happy Birthday Wishes to you today as surely it must be someone's birthday today, do tell!  While I wouldn't say this is your usual birthday card fare,  I had the phrase to use from my last set of shows and these dies to use and it fit.  This card could easily be used for any number of sentiments, but I wouldn't mind it for my birthday at all, how 'bout you?  I started by cutting the Branching Out die in a dark taupe coloured card.  I matted it with light taupe and then a thin dark taupe mat.  To sit on top of that layer, I stamped the Filigree Leaves background by Justrite on  light taupe card using a clear Perfect Medium for a watermark effect.  I heat set it and rubbed over it with an anti static pad too remove any moisture left.  Then I used the same stamp inked with our Flake and Glitter glue.  I stamped it over the top but offset it so you would be able to see the watermark coming through.  I glittered it with Periwinkle polished silk glitter for a pop of colour.  I stamped my sentiment from the Grand Sentiment set by Justrite stamps using a coffee archival ink pad.  I cut it out with the Gold Facet dies and inked through the die with Antique Linen distress ink  (although the pic looks much darker).  I cut a second die and offset it behind my sentiment, mounting them both in the middle of my card.  I tied a bow with natural jute and added a blue button as an accent.  I decided the edges needed something fun so I used the Choco Brown PVA glue to do my paved pearl technique all the way around the edges.  The technique is in the tutorial section at the top of the blog if you would like to see more detail.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8 1/4" in size.

    MORNING SUE
I just know that I'm going to be in the minority of Wilsonettes but today's gift is not my taste. I think if it had been a little lighter or colours contrasting perhaps I would feel different.
Sorry - there are very few gifts from you Sue that don't hit the button but unfortunately for me this is one.

  70. Morning Sue,
Well, I so wish it was my "Birthday" as I really Love this Card, you have used so many techniques to achieve this one.
I wondered where the "Paved Pearls" had gone as we hadn't seen them for a while, and they look great!
I love the Colours you have decided to use for your Card today, using the Filigree Branch, the Watermark which I'm really loving seeing at the moment it really looks great on your work, then getting your stamp ready once more, with your Flake and Glitter Glue, and just positioning it to one side then adding the Stunning "Periwinkle Polished Silk Glitter" which is just so pretty, I Love your Card today, it's Truly Stunning, I so enjoy seeing you use so many different Ideas and ways on your Cards, it's good to see your Cards in different ways, as not every one likes the same and you offer so much more! congratulations to the Winners, I'm so looking forward to watching Julia and Nikki Payne, I really like Nikki's work I'm pleased she's joined Creative Expression, so I'll be watching but in the words of "Lancashire Steph" I'm so looking forward to watching our "Leader Sue" Love and hugs from Sam x

  74. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes. This is such a different example of your talent Sue, and I like it I must say. Very appropriate for late summer birthday's and other celebrations. Love the glitter, must get up a collection of those in the New Year. Had a near disaster with my diamond sprinkles late yesterday afternoon - (ohhh nooo, here comes waffle you are thinking with head in hands) I had put flake n flitter glue on half my card, and as I have no feeling in my index fingers I keep a cheap little bin by me for when I open 'pots of smiles' as I call them :) good job too as the OPEN pot slipped right through my fingers, and - in that slow motion mode, ended up in the bin, but someone was watching over me as.it landed right way up ! Good job as craft shop closed 'till Tuesday and too cold for me to leave the house. Talk about palpations, loardie lordie !

So, you lucky winners, did you use my Wednesday Wish letter ? Well STOP IT ! MY idea, so MY card :) *stamping feet in a diva style tantrum and picking up teddy* enjoy your gifr and many congratulations to ALL 3 of you xx

All ready to record Julia today, and wishing Nikki luck, although Lady Luck has already shone down on her as she works for the best company EVER.

Sunday snuggles to all you lady Wilsonettes, have a happy Sunday xx

  76. Hi Sue. This is an unusual card today for you. I have to be honest and say I am not sure it is really my sort of card. I am not that keen on the colours you have used as they seem a bit dark. I do love the periwinkle glitter part and I like the birthday sentiment. I think it may be the branching out die that I don't really like. I was not very keen on it when it was launched on c+c. I do like your paved pearl technique but I don't think it goes with the branching out die. Sorry Sue. (Just personal opinion.) I must get my hands on those lovely birthday sentiments from justrite. I have set to record Julia's shows today. I can't wait to see you to on tv soon !!

  126. Hi Sue

Had a hell of a day today, father-in-law (90 yrs) took another really bad fall today the 2nd this week. My husband is spending over night with him as dad is really frightened. I came back home and have just finished my daughters wedding invitations

Your card today is so different and I love it.

    Congrats to the lucky winners
