Enjoy Your Day

Morning my friends!  I have a confession to make.  Sometimes I have a small embellishment that I want to use and I design the entire card around it.  This time it was the ribbon.  I had been looking at this blue satin edged ribbon sitting on my craft table for a few days and was really wanting to use it!  So this card was the result.  It matched very nicely with our new Periwinkle blue card (which I also love) so that was it, decision made!  The whole time I was planning this card, I was going to make it mostly white with a bit of blue and black.  I changed my mind and decided to step outside my comfort zone a bit and omit the white.  I have to admit, I was happy with  the way it came out, but I really had to struggle to capture the colour in the pics.  These are the second set of photos that were taken, as the card just looked purplish in the first set.  I think I would have had a hard time convincing you that it was, indeed, periwinkle blue!
I used the Lace Vintage stamps by Justrite and stamped the background with a clear perfect medium pad to get just a watermark effect.  Once stamped, I used the Interlocking Circles folder to add texture over the stamping to the background.  I matted it with a thin black mat.  Next I stamped the pieces for my centre buckle effect.  Again, I used the same stamp, but this time I embossed it with black powder.  I cut out three of these using the Vintage Labels Three by Justrite, using two dies from the set to cut frames into these.  I arranged the three frames and wove the blue satin edged ribbon through them creating my buckle.  I carefully added mounting foam to the back and attached them down the centre of the card.  I stamped my sentiment and decorative surround using a black Archival ink on to the blue card and cut it out with the Vintage Labels four die.  I attached it in the centre with mounting foam and added some flatback black pearls as accents.  I tied a double bow and added it at the top of the card using glue dots.  I added a fancy black button from my craft stash to the centre of the bow as an embellishment.  Finally finishing my card with a double blue pierced mat and some black pearls in the corners.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

The periwinkle blue may be hard to photo but I think you have got it, looks beautiful on my screen, not purple at all:) Glad you're feeling a bit better Pam. Take care.

  26. Morning Sue, morning Wilsonettes, start of a new week and a new set of W.O.W's (Wonder Of Wilson) cards. And what a wonder to start the week with, and we all wonder how on earth they can get any better, but every day we are amazed by what we see. Im always amazed by my creations I must admit ! How can one idea turn into something totally different, and nothing like you first planned ! I love the delicate shade of blue, and I think black goes with any colour, helps to add subtle drama to any card or project, and there is always some kind of drama as soon as I start making !! I swear I hear the evil laughter coming from my 'stock' cupboard when the guilding flakes know Im in the vacinity, extra strong tape suddenly dislodges itself over my card and wont let go no matter how nice I talk to it ! So drama, yep every time !
Ive decided it will all change next year, no crafty item will take control so watch out guilding flakes, adhesive tape, oh yes and you adhesive paper, you wont win, not now I have the Wilsonettes behind me !
One thing that does concern me, and has for a few days now - Jen is it - crafty keepsakes, lost her mojo, now someone MUST have it somewhere ! Can you all look in your craft room, in your storage boxes, where you keep your craft stash, and help in any way you can.
Once you've posted your comment and turned everywhere upside down looking for MOJO, would you add your destination, Im sure Sue would LOVE to know where we all live, and it would be lovely to help and pick up Crafty Keepsakes spirits by helping her find MOJO again.

How about we all start mojo'ing tomorrow and our Pam can start us all off as she does everyday ?
What do you say, we can be The Wonderful Wilsonettes if we want to be

How can we help you CRAFTY KEEPSAKE ?

Sending love and smiles to everyone this Monday.

  33. Good morning sue,
I see that you didn't quite get out of your comfort zone as you have done a different buckle card. The periwinkle card maybe hard to photograph because its a subtle soft blue and i can't wait to see it in the flesh or card rather. I see why you were so wanting to use the ribbon as its blue having the satin edges to it.
Nice to see you back Pam, hope you're feeling a bit better.

  69. Hi Sue. What a wonderful card today !! The periwinkle blue card looks fab on my screen !! I do not have it but it looks a really lovely shade of blue. I think I may have to get some. I love this buckle card Sue. The background stamping looks great and you have used a die shape I would never have thought of using for your main buckle centre piece. A really great card Sue. The ribbon is beautiful and I can see why you wanted to make a card from it. It is strange not seeing any coconut white or milk on one of your cards but I love it !! The black just accents everything perfectly.

Lancashire Steph it is always a pleasure to read your comments. I think the best way to get your MOJO back is to copy another card that you really like. As you start to go in to your own little crafty world you start to have fun and relax then you start trying out ideas of your own. Before you know it you have made a beautiful card and you have given it your own personal twist !! You have forgotten the stresses and worries that you were thinking of and let go of them. Once your self confidence has returned then your MOJO is safely back in your head ready for your next crafty project !!
That's just how I try to do it anyway. I live in Kent but I am only about 10 miles from London. Happy crafting every one. Lots of love Tres x x x
