Your Friend Always

Good Sunday morning all!  They do roll around quicker and quicker these days, don't they! Or at least it seems that way!  I hesitated posting this card as it is the rich plum colour that really makes this card and try as I might, I couldn't get it to show properly.  You will have to really use your sense of imagination or if you happened to have purchased this beautiful colour card that was in one of the sets in October, you are lucky enough to know just how pretty it is!  I used the Lace Oval Frame stamp set by Justrite for my background.  I stamped it with a clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed with white powder.  I turned it horizontally, trimmed and matted this piece and then added it to a larger white piece of card that I scored the bottom section of.  I really love the way that looks and it gives you a nice area for a lovely bow (sorry Maggie, Jo and a few others, every once in a while, you just have to break out the big bow!)  This one was tied using the white frilly edged ribbon with a couple of pearl stick pins and a pearl embellishment for the centre.  To finish off my focal element, I used the same stamp as my background, but this time, I just used the perfect medium for a watermarked look.  I cut it out with Vintage Labels Four and added a white shadow mat to it by cutting it down the middle and taping it further out on each side.  I stamped my sentiment using a Maroon Archival and cut it out with the smallest oval die in the set.  I inked it with Aged Mahogany distress ink before removing it. I cut one of the larger ovals from the set as a mat for it and mounted the pieces all together with mounting foam for dimension.  I decided to go darker for the mat and used the Rich Plum card for my double pierced mat to frame it and finish the card.  Finished dimensions are  7 3/4" x 7 3/4" in size.

Now for the Sunday Comment Game winners.  This weeks has two lots of winners.  The first set is:

  7. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes. This card is stunning Sue. I adore everything about it there isn't one particular item that stands out (ok, maybe the BIG bow) wouldn't look the same without the bow - sorry Maggie : ) The sentiment stamp is double lush as is the die used for the edges. Off to our daughters today who just happens to live near a SB stockist, (note to self - get waiter to serve lunch asap to make sure we get out of restaurant before craft store closes) !

WELL, what can I say about your Beautiful Card this morning other than I Love everything, I Love the Deep Rich Plum Card then using it with White is a must, The Beautiful JustRite Stamp Lace Oval Frame Embossed in White looks "Awesome" I also really love how you have used the same JustRite Stamp to create your background with The Water Mark Look, and I really like how you've created the shadow, and I'm a lover of Bows so I always like to see them, where appropriate and you always seem to find the correct Sentiment. 93. Oooh, lots of people coming out "in defence of bows" today ;)

I know I'm in the minority by not really liking bows - maybe it's because I only had sons!!! You are not the only one who uses bows in this way on her cards - Becca Feenan also does a lot - but it doesn't stop me appreciating the other aspects/elements of your/her work. I know you understand this Sue.

As for today's card, I love it - especially the sentiment, really nicely scripted (I'm a frustrated amateur calligrapher!) and that background is fab.

  135. Thank you for the beautiful card.
May I make a suggestion, not about this card but Embossing Folders? I have noticed, when the patterns have an "Up and a Down" the pattern is always portrait orientated. This is fine if making a card
long side at the bottom, but not when making a side folded card as the pattern is then on it's side.
Again, thanks for the wonderful videos.
