Layered Bauble

Hi Crafters!  We have a Christmas card for today's video.  I hope you like it!

Buy from Joanna Sheen

I do have to apologise, but I can't find any close up pics of this card, including my ruler measurements for it.  I hope that the video will give you all the information you need, but feel free to email me if you have any questions about it.

Thank you for all your great suggestions to yesterday's question.  I was thinking more along the lines of another giveaway or game of some sort myself.  I am not sure if I will be able to do a recap on older dies weekly as the cards that I post are the ones that I have made for upcoming and past shows.  I could, however, do a monthly feature using older dies as I could definitely work that into my schedule for you.  I will still keep my thinking cap on for a weekly feature and see what I can come up with!  All for now, Sue x

Please don't worry about the older die idea, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say we don't want to make extra work for you. Your posts are full of ideas and so clear, I appreciate the time you already give to this.

  10. Morning Sue, I love this card, especially the embossing on the baubles and also the snowflake embossing on the smallest bauble, so effective. The scoring adds a beautiful touch to the white background card.

  11. Knock knock : ) Good Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes. Will watch the video later, and with over 50 cards to make by 22nd with no mojo or very little toys to use, at least it gives me idea's which Im urgently in need of ! Did a card / gift tag / gift bag sale last yr for the childrens ward fund, and have put my name down for a table at a farmers market on the 24th, found what I had left over from the sale last year forgetting how much had sold, so now its panic stations to get tags etc made so my table doesn't look empty !!! Gift tags done, 3 cards made (only 48 to go) !! And bags still to do, oh what have I done, just need to pray my Raynauds doesn't flare up as then my hands are useless, and its in to hospital for treatment ! Hibernation starts here ! Although I cant make exact replica's Sue, you kick start my so called creativity and Im SO thankful I found your blog, so many stunning cards, and so many lovely bloggers too. How about a 'weekly challange' Sue where you give a theme, and your Wilsonettes make a card that incorporates the said theme ? Would that be too much pressure on the Wilsonettes ? A card by you as a winners gift can then be the reward ?

Anyway, my essay and rant complete you will all be pleased to read ! Sorry.

    Big crafty hugs to ALL.

  13. Hi Sue,
what a brilliant card - just what the doctor ordered! Those dies are my favourite bauble, I use them a lot.
It's also good to see the video of you using the mask for embossing - I normally get it the wrong way round and then I have no embossing! BUT NO MORE, I shall make a note of the sandwich needed.
Hey, we all went down the wrong track yesterday, didn't we BIG TIME! We certainly don't want to make extra work for you, you're spoiling us as it is.
I shall have to put my thinking cap on, can't think of any game...........
    Have a great day.,,
    Hugs, Rose

  24. GM Sue - fab card again - will watch video later - how about a colour game? - you give the colour say the week beforehand and Wilsonnetes email you their creations and a bit of how they did it, what they used etc.. you pick the winner and publish on a monday with a critique so everbody learns - i.e. what you would have done differently and why. Would Wisonettes be up for that if Sue likes the idea?......

Gorgeous card. Looks quite easy, will watch video though.

A giveaway would be lovely because I cant describe the feeling I had when mine came through the post and I keep looking at it in case it was a dream so for someone else to have that feeling would be wonderful and in "real life" my card is 100 times lovelier than the picture on the laptop.

  53. Great video Sue, I have that set of dies on order (I didn't like this years shape - boring).

I'd have liked to suggest more giveaways, but it seemed greedy to me, and expensive for you so I didn't mention it. On the other hand, to revisit some of the older dies is a nice idea, if you can manage it. I think we've all got some we forget to use.

  56. Good morning Sue,
What a beautiful card and so nice with the dark blue borders and faux nestie backing. The sides remind me of quilting (ignore me, its the brain wanders)and thank you for going slow enough so that we can actually see in real time the perfect way to get a bead of CS onto our cards evenly. Although we don't see the detail of each step you did because of the camera not really capturing it,we can really see it at the end when you go through the various pictures.
Another quite quick card for christmas.
    Love and crafty hugs

  57. An absolut stunning card here too. As usual uou´ve made a masterpiece of a card that anyone would just absolutely love to recieve I´m sure.
If you were thinking of some kind of give away and sooo many don´t have the means to buy all the new dies that keeps comming out, then what about if you pulled a winner to recieve all the diecuts for one of the new cards, you´re presenting here?? That way more people could actually try and make some of these gorgeous cards, even they don´t have the dies for it??? Just a suggestion, that I would definitely love some times too. What does other think of that idea maybe???

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hi Sue. Sorry we got it so wrong yesterday! I have two suggestions for games. They may be stupid suggestions but hey I will give it a go. What about a naming competition each Monday. You would publish the card and we could suggest an appropriate title for it. You could choose the winner as most apt, humorous etc. Also I thought about a Missing Monday competition. You would give a description of your card as usual but we could guess the name & make of the stamp or die used as the focal element. Answer would be given the following day so Wilsonettes wouldn't have to wait too long before they can make the card themselves. Anyway, lovely card and great video, I will definitely be making this one. x

I have this years round one because I fell in love with the justrite vintage labels four christmas stamps which I bought and hubby treated me to the matching bauble dies. This shape is great as words, snowflakes ect all fit in to the middle of it. Next payday I am going to get a Sue Wilson round bauble stamp to match it to as yours are sooo pretty !! I am so pleased you showed us the sandwich for using the mica masks with the bauble dies. Thankyou for all your fab ideas. I am definately going to make this Christmas card. 95. Afternoon Sue, Another great video which explains everything so well. Your card looks so elegant and not too difficult to make; says 'she' who like various others has tried using an embossing mask the wrong way round and wondering why it hasn't worked out or else it's embossed on the wrong side of the die cut!! But now I know why and have written it down never to be forgotten unless I forget where my 'safe place' is. Will try this out with my grand daughter at the weekend as it will be her first attempt at card making and why not let her do it the 'Sue Wilson' way. Regarding your Monday give away; why not do another charity card auction; it doesn't have to be every Monday if that causes you too much work. Hugs Pauline A x

I've watched the Video twice already and will probably watch again, there's always tips where if your like me I was getting things incorrect and watching today there were things that fell into place where I was going wrong re: the wax paper as I've had my Die cut into my card rather than Emboss! I love the Blue and the White, and how you've layered the Baubles and also created a Faux Bauble, these Bauble Dies are fabulous you can Emboss in them as you've done today, I love how you've Embossed the Snowflake into the smallest Bauble, I will start to use that idea more, the Heirloom Baubles have so much potential, you can place a Sentiment inside, you can place on sticky sheet and use The Awesome Gold Flakes or Micro Beads, I remember last year there was another design of The Heirloom Range and you placed, The White Paved Pearls in the centre, that looked great, so much potential the list is endless and Sue you help us out so much by just giving us a nudge in the right direction
Thanks for the tips and techniques love from Sam x

  117. Stylish and elegant Sue. Swap the bauble in the centre, and this could be for any time of year, male or female. So versatile.

  118. Thanks for another video and great card Sue. Since you are keen on another giveaway, how about miscellaneous Mondays, where you give away "something featured on Monday's card" eg hatpin, dazzler or ribbon or jewelled swirl? Just a thought. Xx

  119. I love this one. Of all the baubles I think this is the most traditional shape and I love what you did with it. Simple but sophisticated.

  120. Love it Sue - blue and white, simple and elegant. I go along with some of your other followers who suggest using some of the older dies once in a while on a Monday. Hope this may be possible.

  127. Love this card Sue and the brilliant video on how to do it. Loving them lots as you can go back to them anytime when you can't remember! We did send you around the roundabout and back with suggestions didn't we? Sorry! Glad you'll give it some thought for the older dies. If it is only once a month it is something and would be much appreciated. As for another card giveaway, that would be fantastic as so many of our "blog family" would love to own a Sue Wilson gem! Trust me everybody, it is soooo much more gorgeous than in the photo! How about a Friday or a Saturday or a Sunday giveaway or maybe a weekend giveaway? Or like Caron28 has suggested, a set of dazzlers, hat pins or something else of the Spellbinder range? Whatever you decide we thank you Sue for all that you do, we really do appreciate it. xx Love Karen xx
