Sunday 20 October 2013

With All Good Wishes

Good Sunday Morning all!  How are those Christmas cards coming along?  Have we made a good and proper start to them yet?  This is a really easy one if you are looking for something a bit different, non traditional and fun.  I started by embossing a piece of kraft card using the Wild Poinsettia embossing folder from Couture Creations.  I matted it with a piece of black card.  Next I stamped the Striped Holly Background by Justrite Stamps using a clear perfect Medium pad on to kraft card again.  I heat embossed it with white powder.  I trimmed and matted it with a piece of Rich Red card this time.  I matted it with foam onto my embossed background.  I stamped the large bauble from the Christmas Vintage Labels Four set from Justrite using a Black Archival ink pad on to kraft card.  I cut it out with the 2013 Heirloom Ornament die and inked it with Antique Linen before removing it from the die.  I coloured the top red for a pop of colour.  I cut one of the borders from the Frosty Forms set in red card and added it to the bottom of my background.  I added my bauble to the card next using some foam pieces for added dimension.  I stamped my sentiment from the set on kraft card and white embossed it.  I cut it out with a scalloped circle die and inked the edges with  Black Soot.  I mounted it in the centre of the bauble with foam pieces as well.  I made a small poinsettia out of the red felt and added a pearl to the centre.  I seated it with some red and white Bakers Twine bow on the side of the bauble as an accent.  I finished the card with a double white mat with a pierced mat layer as a frame.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/4" in size.

It's Sunday, you know what that means!  Winners!  Two sets this week.  The first names drawn are:
Marie Densley!!!
Jean Z!!!
Carol Edwards!!!

For the extra qualifying post of Oct. 16th, the winners are:
KP!!!
Tina Eldridge!!!
Rach 83!!!

Congratulations to all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize!   I have just had word that this is the week coming!  It's official, only a few more days now!  I am very excited (still can't tell though!), you will just have to check back! LOL   All for now, Sue x

morning Sue from a very very wet Burgundy - went to bed last night in a thunder storm and it's still on this morning.
Traditional or not - like yesterday's gift I have fallen in love with your card for today.
The colouring is beautiful and as you say simple to make so I will be adding this to my style for this year. I received yesterday some felt so will also be playing for the first time with felt and my GC.

Made the 'mistake' of Holiday Tree 2012 + holly borders etc for my theme this year, but both SO difficult to remove successfully from dies even with release aids. Made over 60 and battling on!!

  129. Hi Sue

Today's card is really lovely, and oldy worldy look to it, liking the kraft card.

What a lovely surprise this morning to open your blog and find my name as one of the winners. That's made my day. Thank you so much Sue.

I remember contacting you a while ago to see if you were making another DVD sometime soon, and you said there was something in the pipeline that I'm sure we would like. Then the charity DVD came out so I thought that was the surprise, and now in a few days we will know about that surprise in the pipeline. I can't wait.

    Kind regards :-)

  134. Ashamed to say I have only made 1 Christmas card :( Procrastination should have been my middle name! I do seem to spend ages ogling others' creations rather than getting on with my own. However I am now inspired to make a few more and would love to do variations on this one. If I make batches of each element it should be a doddle, right?
