A Couple Of D-Lites

Hi bloggers!   I have finally returned from my week long trip to Scotland (late last night).  I plan on getting some pics up on tomorrows blog post to show along with a bit of sharing of the week in general.  I just couldn't manage it all for today.   I had already planned today's blog as I am trying to post some of the cards that I missed from earlier in the year.  I was sure that I had posted this first one, but can't find it anywhere. It is one of the demos that I did during the shows featuring the Die Dites.  Now the way to do this card is not the way that I actually did it, but to get better results, cover a piece of card the size of the strip that you want to use with a piece of sticky self adhesive sheet.  Peel the backing paper off and gild it with Persian Dawn gilding flakes.  Once gilded, die cut it with the Vines Of Passion Die D-Lite.  This is so much easier to do this way (I die cut the sheet then gilded it), but thanks to a great tip from blog friend Beverley, I won't struggle with it any longer.  Trying to gild fine detailed cut outs is a pain, trust me on this one!  Once gilded, I put it onto a strip of black card so the cut away areas showed up, then onto a soft gold mat.  I used the Crazy Daisy embossing folder to emboss the milk card background.  I then simply matted it on soft gold card, then black with a final double pierced milk coloured mat.  Super simple, no bow or sentiment today on this one.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 9" in size.  Keep scrolling there is more.

Another quick card for today and another using the Die D-Lites.  I picked a piece of Graphic 45 card from my stash and cut a heart aperture out of the centre.  I backed the opening with a piece of white glitter card, then cut a white Vine Of Passion to fit inside and glued it into place.  I used the Medallion Seven and cut three of them, then cut them in half and mounted them so they were just peeking out top and bottom of my card for a frilly edge detail.  I made a white rose following the steps on my tutorial at the top of the blog, then "sugared" it with Rock Candy Dry Glitter.  Using some seam binding that I dyed to match my card, I seated the flower in the centre of the bow after I scrunched it for a shabby chic look.  I added some pearls swirls across the bottom of the card as an accent and pierced down two of the sides of my card, finishing it with a white mat.  Finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 7 1/4" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed the double feature for today!  All for now, Sue x
