Friends Are A Wonderful Gift

Good morning all!  Hopefully the sun is still blessing you today with it's presence!  I dearly hope that I will be able to come home next week to some of it!  A card from the Die D-Lite shows awhile back is on offer today.  I started with the sky blue card from our pastel card pack and used the Fretwork mask to emboss the design.  I wanted a larger background so I extended the mask to achieve this.  This particular mask has a border around it so I cut off the border on one side of my mask so I don't get a line from it when extending the pattern.  If I want the border around the mask such as when I am doing a background in the same size as the mask's original size, I can still achieve it by rotating my mask one turn and re-embossing so it isn't a problem.  I decided to use a wide embossed coconut white strip.  I embossed it with the Petal Pleasures embossing folder from Couture Creations then cut the end into a fork and matted it with a matching black mat.  I stamped my sentiment on a strip of white card using a black Archival ink pad.  I cut a fork into the end of it also and mounted it on matching black card.  I attached it across the card slightly below the mid point.  To create the black rosette, I cut three of the Medallion Seven D-Lite.  I scored across each of them, then cut to the centre and concertina folded each of them.  Although I usually only use two dies for a rosette, I felt this one just needed one more to give it the look that I wanted.  I glued all the pieces together.  I used the very small dies that are in the Medallion seven and eight sets to cut the blue and white centre circles.  I added a 5mm pearl to the centre and mounted my rosette at the junction of my two flagged pieces.  I added a pearl swirl to the card and pierced the inner layer of my double white mat to complete the card.  I think this layout would work great for the guys in whatever colour combo you select for them too!  Finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

    Hi Sue,
Another beautiful card - you must have read my mind, I've been buying some masks and remembered you mentioning on a show how adapt them to extend the pattern. Only I didn't remember how many borders you cut off. Reading your notes on the card has clarified it again (and I won't forget this time).

Love the colours - the inclusion of black makes it so suitable for a man's card - something we always struggle with.

I am never sure when I see these rosettes - I don't really know why as they always look wonderful on your cards - I love the colour scheme for today's gift and the format but just not sure of the rosette - perhaps I will try using something different in place of this.
We seem to have lost our little bit of sunshine as yesterday was dull and today has started the same. Looking forward to having you back here but wishing you had a c&c show before the 20th as I am on my way back to France on that date and will not be able to see your scheduled shows.

  133. These colours go lovely together Sue and loving the rosette. It always looks stunning and classy. As for the sentiment, it is but true.....I love them. They speak from the heart to the heart and if they are but a few words they mean a lot of wonderful things that you don't need to say....... Hoping the weather is here to stay Sue, at least for a while! It will be good to have you back on the screen again but in the meantime you enjoy every single moment with your family. See you soon! xx Love Karen xx

  134. Hi Sue, another super card which is very adaptable for our men folk as you said.
I have my daughter and granddaughters here with us in France for a holiday, weather today has been 33 deg. A little too hot for me but not complaining, but I'm dreading when they go home next week so I know how your mum will feel when you leave must be very difficult for you both, but she knows you have over three million friends back in uk, France ,Spain and probably many other countries too.
    Hugs

  144. Oops missed checking in yesterday, not sure where the time went, love this one very crisp and clean looking, the sun is great up here, getting lots done outside, and not getting wet when I teach so a double advantage, looking forward to seeing you on our screens when you are home, hope its not long until you are on C&C x
