Sunday 12 May 2013

Congratulations

Good Sunday morning!  I am still on the hunt for some "guy" type cards and I think this one qualifies.  I do have to admit that since I had to purchase a new laptop earlier this year, they transferred all my photos for me and I am still trying to find where they ended up!  They aren't organised like I had them so I just have to keep opening up folders to see what is in them!  This is a card that I did for the Heartfelt shows at the very beginning of the year.  I started with the Creative Expressions bark embossing folder on some dark taupe card.  I used some Antique Linen Distress ink to further distress the background a bit.  Next I cut two of the Decorative Lace Borders by Heartfelt Creations using the taupe card from the Neutral card pack.  I used my guillotine and cut the border piece apart so I had just the sections with the lattice and scallops.  I glued them to the top and bottom of my card.  I cut a slightly larger piece of taupe card and stamped the top with a swirl from the Beaded Element set for a watermark effect.  I matted my background on this piece.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with one of the Fancy Tags Two dies and used mounting foam to secure it above my background.  Next I stamped the Grand Palace Entry in Black Archival ink on brown card.  I fussy cut (as in by hand) it and cut the gates open with a craft knife.  I stamped the scene  from the Doorway Trimmings set by Heartfelt Creations on another piece of milk card and coloured it with Distress markers.  I mounted the scene behind the open gate doors and trimmed away any excess card.  I mounted this in the centre of my card.  I stamped two of the pretty spiral topiary trees from the same set and coloured them with Distress markers.  I also fussy cut these as there is not a matching die for them.  I mounted them with foam on either side of my Gate entry feature.  I finished the card by adding a double brown mat and using the Cosmic Shimmer Choco Brown PVA glue to make dots all the way around the edges.  A really fun men's card that you could easily just change the sentiment to suit your needs.  Finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8" in size.

It is once again time for the Sunday Comment Game winners to be announced.  No extra qualifying posts this week though ( I guess I will have to try harder with the cards next week! LOL)

The winners are:
Mrs.Duck!!!
weefortune!!!
Joan Donaldson!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

    Hi Sue,
Loved the card when I saw it on C&C and made similar cards, based on this one. So very satisfying to make, especially with the view through the gate.
And I can only echo the comments made by Patricia above.
I feel for you, having to look into each folder to see what's in it.
    Have a lovely Sunday.

  13. Good Sunday Morning to you too Sue!

And a good sunny morning it is too though sadly not to last! :(

Love today's card. It is difficult to do the 'mens' cards and it doesn't help that most many really do not care about cards, or maybe it's just what men say as they find it difficult being in touch with their emotions and don't know how to respond. Yet you can't just not send one.I am sure they love them really. Never mind have a great Sunday Sue.

  19. Good morning Sue and everyone.
Firstly . . . WOOHOO! I am one of this weeks winners. Sorry but I've had a bit of a mare of a week and this has lifted my spirit. Thanks to Heather R for alerting me.
When I saw the first pic,I thought "hmmm" so it does pay to scroll down and see the lovely scene behind the gate.
I've only just made friends with my laptop as I tried to start a blog last month but I couldn't load any photos onto it (hence it was likely to be the dullest blog on the planet).
Yesterday, finally a breakthrough after threatening the laptop with violence. Thought technology was supposed to make life easier lol!
