Life Is Better With You In It

Hi guys! That is how I feel about all of you!  I never thought that I would enjoy blogging near as much as I actually do, but I really enjoy the connection that I feel with crafters through my blog. This card is dedicated to all of you!  Probably a bit corny, but it's life and you just have to have a bit of corny once in awhile, don't you!  I started this card by stamping the rye grass flourish all the way around the outside edge of some coconut white card using a clear perfect medium pad.  I heat embossed it with white powder for a tonal look.  Next I picked a piece of decorative paper I had that has little metallic butterflies all over it in a deep aqua green (I struggled to get the colour to come out in the pic).  I cut four of the Timeless Amour pieces (the abstract heart die in the set) in white.  I interlocked the curly bits on the sides and glued them to my background paper.  They make a pretty pattern in the very centre I think.  Next I cut four of the lacy heart from the Timeless Amour set, I used just the lacy edge for the card and set the four inside hearts aside for a later project. I folded each of the lacy edge pieces in half and glued them back to back using the Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue.  I then glued the back halves to the card over my white pieces.  These will fold flat to mail, but are 3 dimensional once the recipient takes the card from its envelope.  I stamped a sentiment and cut it out with the fancy tags two die.  I inked through the die lightly with Bundled Sage distress ink.  I mounted it with foam to the bottom of the card.  I cut a double white mat for my card and used the Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue to create dots all the way around the edge to complete the card.  Finished dimensions are
7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  6. Hi Sue

Well I agree with Pam it is a two way thing life is a lot better with you in it too! :)

The card is lovely. i love cards that have things that are 3D on them as you don't get many of those in the shops and so that makes them very different. Really nice.

Thanks to your blog though we all get a daily dose of your talents and just as the other bloggers have said my life is better with you in it! I hadnt made many visits to my craft room until you were back on C&C (and i found your blog) and now I've absolutely got the bug again and ideas pop into my head all the time - that's thanks to you because you encourage us to look at things differently and not to just use dies one way! Thank you Sue and much love.

  25. Loving todays card Sue. I love the background stamp that you have used it gives a lovely texture and depth but embossed in white it doesn't "interfere" with the card and make it look too busy. I'm gonna get my white embossing powder out and have a play now instead of using embossing folders all the time for my backgrounds. Thanks Sue for your unlimited inspiration

  33. Right back at you Sue, you are soooo loved by all us bloggers, it is strange how much we feel connected. I was thinking about that when you talked about ally pally & how much I envied the folk who had the chance to meet you. I'd want to give you a great big hug & tell you how much your blog meant to me too, but it's more than that. YOU have touched our hearts in ways that are unexplainable but wonderful just the same.

You have brought us another amazing card, it's truly beautiful Sue. I made the dimensional bit as part if my valentine card to my husband but have to confess he wouldn't have known to open it out if I hadn't shown him so guess it would get a bit lost on the recipient unless we put in a little note explaining what to do. (I'd hate all that work to go unnoticed after you had taken the trouble to create that element!!)

  72. Hi Sue
There is nothing corny about craft and crafty friends. I've often read that people throw themselves into their crafting when they are low in spirit for whatever reason. I now know what they mean. My husband died at the end of February after three weeks previously being told that he had 2-3 months to live. I was stunned at the speed of it all and my crafting took a very back seat. My friend who owns my local craft shop (my lifeline) invited me to a copic colouring class. It was just what I needed to get going again - talking craft with like minded people. Nothing in this world would bring my husband back but my family and my friends are keeping me going. And so do YOU. I love your blog and the cards you make. Sorry this comment is so long but I just felt I could open my heart to you when I saw your lovely card this morning. Thank you.

Sending you a huge hug Teresa, a lot of us use crafting as a therapy, it's just nice to be able to get lost in something, mainly to fill those empty voids of time where you feel down and the more time you sit thinking the worse you feel! Feel free to message or post when you are having those moments, this blog is like an extended 'family' and more of us than you think are going through something similar! Hugs, Sandra xx

I am quiet and reserved and find it difficult to have the umf necessary to get to the front to talk to you on these occasions. it has happened before. I often read your blog in bed before I get up in the morning, so as you and I have been in my bedroom I feel that we are close friends ( no smut intended)- so why were all these other people keeping me away from my friend????? I love everything that you write. ~I admire and respect your skill as a crafter and designer, and am eternally grateful that you have so much generosity to share your beautiful ideas, and am daily inspired by what you share. 164. Hi Sue,
Right back at ya, as they say! Nothing wrong with a bit of corn either! I for one, would never have got into Spellbinders without your inspiration. I still don't do as much crafting as I would like and there are ALWAYS more dies that I 'need', but your amazing creations are just a few clicks away when I need an idea.
Almost forgot to comment on the card - Wow, it's gorgeous. Love the colour/design of the decorative paper and the pattern created by the hearts. The lacy hearts feature is really pretty and the design would work well in other colours for Valentine or anniversary cards.

  171. Hi Sue. Your card for today is wonderful. Love the colour combo and your white on white embossing. I am not to keen on the interlocking dies in white but I love the heart dies and sentiment. Thank you for dedicating the card to us crafters. I am really touched. I definitely know that my life is much better with you in it. When I was diagnosed with this illness I thought Psychologically that I would go under. I found the c+c channel and started making some cards. Then I found Spellbinders and you !! Now you are in my life every day and I really love all your beautiful cards and your kindness and generosity. When I met you at Alley Palley. For the first time the other week I was just so excited and happy. You made my year. I finally got to meet my crafty hero !! You are a truly genuine wonderful person. I had my photo taken with you and I will treasure it for the rest of my life !! We all need someone to keep us going and you still continue to help me through the good times and the bad times.
