Silver Congratulations

Hello bloggers!  A silver and white over sized card today.  I started with a piece of kraft card and coated it with the new brushed pewter distress stain fro Tim Holtz.  I love this stuff, you can do so much with it.  I wanted a silver background, but did not have any silver card so I did the next best thing and made my own.  The kraft card gives it a unique brushed metal look to it too.  Next I cut four of the Botanical Swirls and accents corner in white card.  I glued them to the silver background to create a long thin shaped card.  I stamped my sentiment on white card and embossed it with silver powder.  I cut this into a long strip of card, matted it with a strip of silver left from my background and cut forks into the ends.  Next I made a large flower using Blossoms Five.  You can check out the tutorial on this at the top of my home page.  I made two white flowers following the tutorial on the Creative expressions website (I can't figure out how to put this tutorial on my site as of yet!)  On the white flowers, I used some Cosmic Shimmer clear drying glue and sprinkled the Rock candy dry glitter all over them.  I added a few sprigs from the Foliage set and pierced around the edges to finish it off.  I think this would make a lovely wedding or anniversary card.  Where are those sentiments when I need them!  Finished dimensions are 5 1/2" x     9 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  32. Hi Sue your inspiration is truly rubbing off on me lol, I did a card similar to this last week but using only 2 of the botanical swirl corners on a square card, I cut 2 layered squares from the marvelous squares set and stamped the top one with Happy Birthday, and added a couple of tiny roses (it was a smaller card). My friend saw it and has asked me to make her wedding invites using the same design :-)) trouble is she needs 125 so I think I'd better invest in another couple of sets of dies lol. Thanks for all the inspiration you give us every day.
Love the pewter stain MUST get some.

    morning Sue
I do like the bot.die - I have the full one but not the swirls (they are on my list) and have cut pieces out of the full die to use. I find I can make some really interesting shapes by doing this. I do like the format of today's card and yes wouldn't be beautiful to give as a Wedding/really special day card.

    Hi Sue
What a great and just stunning card this is I love the embossing and stamping you've done.
I think this card is ideal for both men and women as its detailed and delicate without being too girlie. I know a few people gay and straight who would like this card so I may try and do something similar with my spellbinders and justrite stamps and dies and other stamps.
Welcome back to England sorry its so cold for you after your sunny trip.

Hi Sue my last message was written on the 6th feb intended for that days cards I've been looking after my poorly dog so a bit befuddled and tired.
However I love the 5th Febs card for an anniversary or wedding its simply beautiful. I love the silvered Kraft card (where do you find the silver ink from tim holtz?) it's gorgeous. I love the flowers and the corners used as a delicate background paper lace. Take care and thank you for your inspirational cards and techniques that I'm learning from you.

    Best wishes from Katie-Louise Sweetlove
