Have A Great Day

Hi bloggers!  Since we have been on girlie overload for the past few days, I thought I would show a rather unisex card for today.  I do apologise, however,  as it got a tiny bit damaged on the flight home from Florida last time so it has a bit of a wave to the sides. To begin the card,  I picked a piece of rusty red card (tomato red) for my background.  I used the Antique Labels One die from Justrite to cut an aperture in the centre of the card.  Next I embossed the background with the Brick/Bark embossibility folder.  I added a tan mat (which doesn't really show up in the photo well) and then a black background.  I used a score board to put small horizontal lines in the background edges.  I also used black Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue to do a row of dots on either side.  I stamped the Friends labels One stamp in black on taupe card and embossed it with clear powder.  I used the two smaller stamps  and stamped them on to taupe card also.  The top and bottom one match, but I changed the small sentiment on them.  The centre one is a different stamp from the set, but I cut out all three with the matching die.  I inked them with Antique linen while in the die.
I added 3D foam to the back of my embossed background for depth and dimension.  I added the smaller stamped die cut to the centre and then the two matching stamped die cuts to the top and bottom of the card.  I added a double mat of taupe card and just pierced the inner layer on the sides this time.  While there probably isn't as much versatility in this type of card, it would probably work in some of those situations that are difficult to find just the right thing that isn't too frilly.  Maybe you can offer up a few other ideas for occasions that it could be used for.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Not so 'frilly' this one, but those stamps make it. I think I'd use a lighter colour, as this red doesn't really appeal, but in the darker shades, it would be a great man card.

Yet more good ideas Sue, you never cease to amaze me at your inventiveness.

Hi Sue
This card is great really lovely. It is just what I need for inspiration today as I am going to use this embossing folder.

I have at last tracked down some aluminium tape as I found the big well known DIY shops did not sell it. When I did find it, it was in a rather large well known timber merchants, and I say this to help others, it was a large roll for £11.45 and I said that I couldn't afford that and he knocked the price down to £7 something to help me so it pays sometime to quibble it just shows how much the add on to things girls!! it is a huge roll will probably last me a long while but I do have a lot of male cards.

I do feel I want to mention Michelle it was not you I was having a go at it was the spammers that have hit Sue's blog over recent weeks and the message referred to had already been removed by Sue when you posted and I hope you get your help re your blog that is what we are here for to help each other.

Good morning Sue,

This is a great card for men, it is always so hard to think up new ideas for male cards. I love the red brick embossed wall effect and red and black is always a winner.

Thank you for your email Sue, I will be replying today but I just want to say for now thank you very much for your help and advice. I would also like to thank the lovely ladies who emailed me yesterday and also offered me advice, you know who you are. :-)

Heather I understand now what happened yesterday and that spam posts are being made to Sue's blog. Unfortunately I didn't see it so when your comment appeared under my post I thought you were referring to me. I hope I did not upset you or anyone else with my reply and if I did I am truly sorry.

Hi Heather,

I've just seen your post, I must have been typing mine when you posted. Isn't awful how these spammers can cause such misunderstanding and upset to people? We're all here for each other and Sue is absolutely fabulous and such an inspiration and does not deserve to have things like this happen on her wonderful blog. At least we have been able to clear this horrible mess up.

Morning Sue,

Great ideas as always! I think the stamps are good generic option but guess you could adapt this to bring in any stamps that might be of specific interest to the individual as well.

Got my Sue Wilson stamping DVD in post yesterday and enjoyed every moment!! It's got loads of techniques and its fab having the ability to watch the demos whenever I'm trying them out myself. The step by step guide makes it simple and easy to follow so to all my fellow bloggers - you need this DVD from info on techniques to making different flowers and embellishments its just a jewel in your crafty stock cupboard.

You should be advertising this Sue, I didn't even know it existed & would definitely buy more if you decide to make another one!!!

Morning Sue, Love the idea for this card and I have the brick wall folder. I kept looking at it, as I wasn't too sure about it. I am sure all of the ladies and gents have thought of this idea, but if not i tried using a piece of card covered with some PVA glue with ordinary kitchen foil stuck to it wait for it to dry and embosse with any folder, i thought it worked quite well and was using things i already had, worth a try.
