Follow Your Dreams

Happy Christmas Eve!  I realised yesterday as I started to update my blog that I had a box of samples for the show last week that never made it with me to the studio!  I was working on three different shows while I was away.   I had nicely separated all the samples by show, or so I thought!  I found this box with a sample for the shows that I am doing in January on top of five or six samples for last weeks shows!  This card is one of them.  Today's card is another fun use of the Butterfly Magic die.  Don't cut, emboss!  This die makes a great embossed background.  If you want to emboss only, just skip the cutting step and put your die on your card, cover with the tan mat and pink plate and run it through your GC.  I used Broken China distress ink and sponged lightly while the die was still in place to add some interest to my background.  I covered a small piece of coconut white card with our sticky adhesive sheets and placed it on the Butterfly Magic die over the butterfly to cut just that particular area.  I nipped it out of the background once cut and peeled the backing paper away and covered with micro beads.  I glued it in place directly over the butterfly, raising the wings  for movement.  Out of teal card, I cut one of the butterflies from the Les Papillon set and added it to the bottom of the card.  I stamped my sentiment in black archival ink and cut it out with one of the smaller Labels 28 dies.  I inked it with Broken China ink too.  I mounted it in the corner and added a messy bow tied from white seam binding.  The centre was adorned with a heart Dazzler. I added some double score lines around the edge of the background before I matted it with teal card (which looks very crooked due to my photo angle! LOL   It isn't IRL ) and pierced the edges of my final white mats.
Last year on Christmas Day, I showed you pics of all my past Christmas trees.  Since you have seen them all, I had to come up with something different.  So if you have played Santa, eaten too much and can't watch another Christmas movie why don't you stop by to see what's on the blog tomorrow.  All for now, Sue x

  12. Good Morning, Sue,

Magic, calm , and beautiful card today. Hans Christian Andersen said, "Green is good for the eye".
Did you know that the archivists have just found a box of old documents and discovered a very early,hand-written story 'The Wax Candle'?
Most people think that HC Andersen wrote his stories just for children, but they are in effect a reflection of social life in Denmark at the time and have a meaning for grown ups as well.
At this magical time of the year, when grown ups are allowed to be children again, I thank you for stirring in me your special kind of inspiration during the year now nearly gone. Thank you for your blog and your cheerful smile on TV.
May you keep your boundless energy to make these last for a very long time to come.
    Happy Christmas!
    Hugs from Lis xx

  13. Hi Sue,

Once again you have woven your magic to create another masterpiece. I'm so impressed by the depth of the embossing with this die and will be trying it out as soon as I get a window to myself which will be difficult over the hols. I took time out the other day and went back through all your blogs till June 2009 and it was such a delight to view all your amazing creations- you are what puts the spell into spellbinders for me Sue and I can't thank you enough for your inspiration and the way in which you take the time to detail step by step how to replicate your cards is just the icing on the cake! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Have a wonderful Christmas.

    Every blessing

Thank goodness that my new dies were delivered the other day after I commented here that I was still waiting for them. Thank goodness because one was today's die butterfly magic. I would not have thought of just embossing the die but certainly will now. I already have the other butterflies so am all set!!It will have to be when I unpack in Burgundy later this week but will be on top of my list.
I love the colour scheme and the format.
