Morning all! I pulled out an older die for today's card, the Fleur de Lis Pendant. Still one of my favourites and probably one of the first of the detailed type dies to come along. I love the way it looks coupled with Labels 20, just peeking out at all the right spots! I started with a piece of floral backing paper (Kaiser Craft, I think, but I'm not 100% certain on that). I covered it with our adhesive sheets and micro beaded it to give it a softer look. I cut my pendant out of matching rust card to use as the backdrop for my focal element. I stamped the Justrite Kindness stamp using a clear perfect medium and clear embossed it. I cut it out with the matching labels 20 die and added pearl Nestabling to the edge. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with one of the Justrite custom tag dies and mounted it with foam for dimension. I had a strip of background paper left so I decided to make some rolled flowers using it. I cut the strip into "circles" (not die cut ones, just hand cut ones) of varying sizes and rolled them to create a cascade of flowers across my card. It is difficult to make out the pattern in my pic, but they are quite pretty in real life as you get a sense of the coordinating flowers. Keep these kind of flowers in mind if you haven't got enough matching paper for some of the other types. I added some flatback pearls in the opposite corners and pierced the edges to finish the card. I think we need to see more of this older Fleur de lis pendant die shape as it is quite pretty I think. All for now, Sue x
I like the card but the colours are not to my taste. i too think this die is beautiful.

Dear Sue what an awesomely beautiful card; I adore the colours and just love the effect of the microbeads over the paper. I have only used them over images so far but I am tempted to try them over paper now after this. I know you have done it before but I was just hoarding mine for images only! lol But they do go a long way. Love, Vee xx sorry not been around too much but hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and I love those colors (maybe a bit masculine but I like them). Your different sized flowers are pretty.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Eemeli
PS Fleur de lis are firm favourites of mine. Vee xx
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, My first reaction to this card was "Mm not sure about this one" I think its the background! Sorry Sue but this is a no from me too.I like vintage but this background just sort of looks old fashioned! Hugs Sonia x

ReplyDeleteHi Sue
Beautiful card love the way you have used labels 20 and the fleur de lis dies. I like the colour combo must try making some of the circle flowers they look very pretty.
Hugs Annx without an "e"
That's a very busy paper for a SW card! I have some card Candi that is very similar in that it's a ditsy floral pattern - I think they would go well together. It's a bit odd in the fact that we're used to seeing plain contrasting but sophisticated colours - so maybe the pattern comes as a surprise to some.
ReplyDeleteI love hand cut rolled flowers - I wonder what they would turn out like if those patterned edge scissors were used - I might have a go today... seeing these has made me curious!
I do like the label shape - and think that sentiment stamp is really great - love the font - something i've not seen before. It is a Just Rite stamp too?
I seem to get my emails of your blog posts quite late, sometimes I'm a couple of days behind with them and usually towards the 200 comments mark. However, having only just received the celery coloured card one today, I refreshed the whole blog to see that two more cards had been posted - hence me being within the top 30 today... makes a change. Mr Blogger can be so lazy and slow bringing your posts to my inbox - well, I caught him out today!!!
hugs

ReplyDeleteI have to admit that today's card is not my cup of tea - I like the format but for me the background is too fussy - I rarely use heavy patterned papers for background as I can never get the card to look right. Sorry.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I love the colours and backing paper, nice vintage feel..I always forget about the rolled flowers..I must remember them because they coordinate beautifully with the rest of the card..:)Have a great day..:)..xxx
ReplyDeleteHi sue I love everything about this card apart from the backing paper but that's because I don't really use them as I'm not very good at matching colours and papers!! Love lesley xx
ReplyDeleteYes, Sue, I really like the colours but would have used burnt orange pearls - just a personal thing! Otherwise, have only just got fleur de lis dies so time for experimentation again.
ReplyDeletePaule Gale - if you get down to reading this - yes, use decorative edged scissors to cut flowers - I haven't got any of the flower spiral dies (can't afford them all!) so handcut spirals with different scissors and you do get a good effect.
Not quite Sue standard but def okay.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI'm getting used to labels 20 now...and rather liking it. If I will be honest, I didn't like the labels 20...of all the dies, hmmm...I've used it once and that it. It was shunted away, but now because of your inspiring cards using labels 20, I fell in love with it. All your cards that's got labels 20, this is the seductive one! I guess the whole ensemble, demure yet passionately done! Woah...hot stuff! Thank you for this card Sue!
Lots of love, Aggie xxx
