Hi crafty friends! The Heartfelt Creations Oval Window die is the star of today's card. I started this one by using a piece of coconut white card (yes white, not purple) and cutting my oval window out of it. While the window was still in the die, I inked the entire background piece using Dusty Concord distress ink. This gave me a really crisp clean white edge for my aperture. I used the negative piece for my background and lined the back of it with mounting foam to create height and dimension for my card. On a separate piece of white card, I stamped my sentiment. I used the window die that I cut to frame the sentiment and glued it in place. I cut another oval window die and inked through the die once again. Then I nipped it apart, using a section on either side of my aperture. The curlie parts of the die hooked around the aperture opening, creating a nice extension to my aperture. I added flatback pearls to the top, bottom and sides of the window as accents. I wrapped a piece of silky crush ribbon around the bottom and tied a double bow. A single pearl embellishment finished it off. I pierced the edges as a final touch. While I only had distress inks at hand to use, this card looks lovely with some of the brighter Adirondack inks if you want something more striking (the sailboat blue is gorgeous for this). All for now, Sue x
Morning Sue

GM Sue - my project book arrived yday and you wanted to know what we thought so here's my comments. What a quality publication! I say that because I think the content, layout, photography. instructions are all absolutely bang on! Nothing like those other card making monthly mags which are full of advertising and designs which quite frankly are pretty uninspiring - you know the ones I mean bloggers! I can honestly say its the best of breed as far as I am concerned and worth every penny - true value for money. How often are CE going to produce these? and when is the next one due out? I want a subscription please to ensure I get a copy on release - can that be sorted Sue?..
ReplyDeleteAs for todays card love the colour combo and use of the die - amazing.
PS Is there an update on the awards we all voted for a few weeks back?...

Hi Sue.
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty.....love the purple. As someone pretty new to card making, and on a very tight budget, I have to find ways of using the limited inks, card stock etc. that I have do lots of things. I often have to colour larger pieces of card to match other bits on a card. I have found that darker coloured ink pads are easier to use to start with to get a nice even finish.(I don't have a brayer). Sue, you help me so much with ideas, techniques etc. Thank you.
Hi Sue, very pretty love purple. Hugs Melody xXx
ReplyDeleteA purple card could never fail to delight me Sue - my favourite colour!!! Lovely card and that inking is so smooth, don't know how you managed that - well done you!!
