Botanical Swirls

Hi guys!  Now this is a sneak peek of what is to come on Tuesday night!  This is the new Botanical Swirls extendable background die template.  Isn't it beautiful?!  I decided to go ahead and feature it on the blog as I wasn't going to demo this card.  It is one of my favourite cards, though I just love it in the simple cream and black colour combo.  These new backgrounds are pretty amazing in that they are expandable in either direction, top to bottom or side to side, thereby increasing all the fun things you can do with them.  I cut it out of milk coloured card and used Antique Linen distress ink to highlight the embossed areas.  Another tip, though is to use your waxed paper/greaseproof paper when getting these as they are very detailed.  I cut this die out and then left a small border around it that I pierced.  I mounted it on foam pads for dimension then matted it over black card to show off the detail.  I stamped my sentiment on a strip of milk card.  I matted it onto a piece of black card and cut the ends into a fork.  I used the black Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue to add glue dots up and down the sides of the sentiment strip.  I mounted it on the diagonal across the card radiating from my bow.  I tied a double bow out of our new ruffled edged organza ribbon and added a decorative button (from my stash) to the centre along with a couple of pearl stick pins.  Since the card was fairly simple in design, I decided to add another wider mat of milk card and finish off with another layer of black that I pierced around the edges too.  I do have demos planned with this die showing other ways to use it, if it lasts that long!  All for now, Sue x
