Pearly Bauble

Morning my friends!  Today's Christmas card was just a pure lark on my part.  I had seen a card online awhile back that was done using the Christmas bauble die from last year but with a red background.  It, too was adorned in full pearls.  I really just wanted to try it!  I had recently purchase a large inexpensive bag of pearls to use as centres for flowers and since it was right in front of me, well, you know the rest!  I cut out the Christmas Bauble in the largest size using blue card.  While still in the die, I glued three sizes of pearls randomly on to the die, taking care not to get too close to the die so I could remove it easily once finished.  I decided to leave some random gaps too rather than tightly filling it in as I wanted the blue to show through.  I used the Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue for this so it was dry in no time.  For the background, I used the Wild Poinsettia embossing folder and did the top portion of the card.  I stamped my sentiment and embossed it in clear and drew two score lines below my embossed background.  I tied a small bow with white silky crush, added a fancy white button and mounted it to the top of the ornament.  I used a small piece of blue and white Bakers Twine to make it look like it was hanging.  I pierced the edges on the white mat behind it to complete the card.  I was thinking that this might be a fun card for you to do if you have children that may want to help in the card making process at Christmas time too.    I am hoping to get some pics from CHA up on tomorrow's blog so be sure to check back.  All for now, Sue x

  26. Oh my Sue, this is so beautiful, and I absolutely love all these pearls. But here they´re definitely NOT very inexpensive, so where do you find big bacs like this so inexpensive? I think many would like to know that, as it´s something really expensive most places.
I also just LOVE the embossingfolder, you used, as the poinsettia is my favorit christmasflower too, so this is just sooo me. Stunning work here again Sue.
I´m so exited for tomorrow to get to see all these great pics from CHA then.

Good Morning Sue. Really "different" card. Sounds easier than usual so I'll definitely be having a go as I've got some pearls in my stash. Julia did a great job yesterday on C+C. Really enjoyed the shows and all the lovely dies. So sad I couldn't afford the blossom it was my favourite.

  38. Morning Sue, Beautiful card today, love absolutely everything about it. I love the pearls on the bauble die, although I don't know how on earth you got all the small pearls in there, must have been a bit fiddly? I absolutely love how you have scored 2 lines at the bottom of the embossing, it finishes it off beautifully and the bow looks beautiful atop the bauble. BEAUTIFUL seems to be a repeat description on this comment, sorry but I can't stop praising this card, it's 'beautiful' ha ha. Lots of love from Patricia xx PS Looking forward to your piccies tomorrow xx

  140. Hi Sue, such a gorgeous Christmas card and I can see the bauble with a stamped Christmas theme/image in it too but those pearls are sensational. Nearly got the POTW but problems with my order and was not impressed with C&C's customer service so cancelled. Will just have to wait till the dies come on the market. Looking forward to seeing the CHA photos. Hugs Christine H xx

  150. Gorgeous card Sue, love the pearls.
I was only going to buy the small set with the Venetians in, but my laptop froze while I was ordering so they sold out - and I ended up buying the 15 to get them instead! Never mind, I'll be broke but happy!

  152. I loved this when saw on tv, then thought how about using similar technique on a different shape using buttons or maybe lots of tiny punched flowers, or the cosmic shimmer pearl glues, or even mixed beads. now I'm gettin carried away sorry. sue I'd like to know approx sizes of your cards on your posts. just a thought x
