Polka Dots and Ovals

Hello blog friends!  Black and white with a pop of red, I love these colours together.  Against my background of black and white polka dots, I added three Floral Oval dies that I removed the area inside the piercing dots.  This is very easy to do with a pair of small sharp scissors as the piercing dots act as a perforation to cut along.  I placed two of them overlapping each other vertically and glued them to the background.  The third one I glued across the two horizontally, creating rings around my sentiment.  I stamped my sentiment in black and cut it out with the smallest floral oval.  I inked it lightly with Black Soot distress ink (it looks a bit violet in the pic though, sorry).  I backed it with one of the Moroccan accent pieces cut in red card.   On either side of my focal element, I flanked it with the Moroccan borders cut in white and backed with a strip of black card.  I tied a double bow out of red frilly edged ribbon and topped it with a fancy sparkly button.  The two red crystal stick pins were a lovely gift from blog friend Linda Burrows, she made them (along with some other beautiful pins) and sent them to me, aren't they simply stunning! Thank you Linda!  To finish the card, I pierced the edges, but you knew that didn't you! LOL  Be sure to check in Wednesday morning as I am planning an early sneak peek for Thursday's shows.  All for now, Sue x

  3. It may be morning to you, Sue, but it's 10 p.m. on the US west coast. This card looks like it's blue and black in the picture, which I was happy to "see." It's still pretty in black and white. ;-)

The Moroccan border die is one of my faves that your use. The stick pins from Linda are, indeed, gorgeous. Nice bow, of course. That's what always meets my gaze first thing.

  168. Sue you are so good at piercing, it's always so very straight, are there any special tips that you can please offer on this technique,i guess it's just practice makes perfect. I find it to be really quite tedious, although i love the effect, Thanks in advance.
