Love That Craft Stash!

Morning everyone!  I will tell you right now that this card is actually pale yellow and black.  I know my picture taking skills leave a lot to be desired, but I'm going to blame this one on the equipment! LOL  I was having a good rummage through some of my craft stash, the stuff you buy because you think, "I'll use that," but you hardly ever do!  You know what I mean, all crafters have some of that stash.  Well, I found a lovely cameo and I haven't a clue where it came from but I was completely smitten with it.  So I pulled out my Floral Oval dies to put together a quick card so I could see the cameo on a card.  I started with the Valor Embossibility folder to create an embossed background.  I cut the largest Floral Oval die out of black card for my focal element.  I stamped my sentiment on pale yellow card, and cut it out with the middle size of the Floral Ovals.  I used Black Soot distress ink with a very light hand and inked the piece while it was still in the die.  I layered the two pieces turning the large oval in a vertical fashion.  Using mounting foam, I added them to the top of my background.   I ran a piece of black silky crush ribbon around the bottom of the card and taped it to the back.  I tied a double bow and added my matching cameo to the centre of the bow.  I used a glue dot to add my bow to my card.  I cut up a black rhinestone swirl spray and added pieces to the top and bottom of the card.  Three rhinestones were added to the top and bottom of my focal element  to complete the card.  Super easy and super quick.  I love the way the cameo looks too!  Now if I just could remember where I got it! LOL  All for now, Sue x

  1. What a great way to showcase the cameo. I'm loving that ribbon! Yes, I think all crafters have "stashes" that threaten to take over some of our precious space. I'll try to make use of your example and use some of it. Thanks, Sue, for another gorgeous card.

  2. Hi Sue what good use of the cameo, I know what you mean by having a stash. When I am out and about I often buy bits to use at a later date and when I search through my bits often wonder to myself "now what project did I buy this for". Great card nice to see the bow back, wish mine turned out as good as yours.

  5. Hi Sue,
wonderful card love the cameo. Pity about the colour not coming out true. I bet it looks great in those colours. You are right we all have stashes we buy and never use, but the difference with me and I don't know about the rest of you is I can't remember where I put things. Except for my Spellbinders of course. Have a great crafty day everyone, as the sun is shinning.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  8. Hi Sue Yipee a sunny day for a change! You have done it again Sue, yet another spectactular card, I wish I had your imagination Sue. This card made me go all sentimental as Cameos remind me of my Nan as she always wore one that my Grandad gave her. I only have a small craft room so I try to have a "tidy" every couple of months or so, and am always amazed at how many things I had forgotten I had, I am off to a craft show tomorrow though so am bound to add more to my stash, so had better have a tidy up today to make room!

  14. Morning everyone
Well another beautiful card Sue. Your Cameo reminded of all the odds and bits I collect at craft and jewelery fairs like Scarf rings and flat painted and varnished stones etc. I really must dig them all out again and use them up like this. Your inspiration keeps so many people across the globe crafting or getting them to return to crafting. You truly are an ambassador for spellbinders and card crafting.

    Thankyou so much

  142. Sue, Another amazing card. Absolutely beautiful and the card is a gorgeous backdrop for the cameo, elegant and slightly mystical. I know what you mean about buying stuff and forgetting you have it, I have a craft room full of stuff bought at shows etc and filed away in my bottomless pit of a craft room, never to see light of day again, because I have forgotten what I was going to do with it ha ha. Lots of love, Patricia Howarth xx

  148. Hi Sue, What an amazing card. The cameo is just beautiful. Lindsey said to tell you she thinks it is a great card. Sometimes if you just have a good look through your stash it is amazing what you find - where you get it from you never remember - but we just have to have these things.

  166. Hi Sue! You never cease to amaze me with your "quick" cards! This is so beautiful & classy, even if it looks cream it's still easy to imagine it in the pale yellow. The cameo is lovely Sue, thank you Claire, will be looking on ebay for those! I know what you mean about finding things that you've forgotten you've got. Then before you know it you've brought that & everything else out that you'd forgotten about & it's ended up all over the place because you don't want to forget about it again! Phew! Love the bow! Beautiful, beautiful card xx Love Karen xx

  170. Hi Sue,
I can see the yellow when I zoom in and it is absolutely lovely with the black. A fabulous design and an outstanding layout.
Love the Cameo, that is one of the items that I tend to have in my stash and keep thinking I can't use it because it's too lovely.
Looking forward to your shows next week. I hope you have something really wonderful as I have been saving a little just incase.

  175. Sue, have never seen these Cameo's before but they are beautiful, what a shame the true colour of the card did not appear as it should, but this does not in any way detract from the beauty of the card. I can only dream of aspring to making cards of your quality, but wil soldier on as I sm enjoying my grand calibur, dies and your daily postings.
