Good Sunday morning! I know that I have not been able to do justice to the gorgeous colours in the background of this card with my photo, but I wanted to show off the work of a friend of the blog. Earlier in the year, Rosemarie Fishlock sent me some of the encaustic art pieces that her daughter Lindsay had done. Let me tell you, they were simply stunning! She is a very talented encaustic artist. The colours in this background piece are silver and purple for the most part with a bit of gold added to it. I wanted to use a few of these pieces in my cardmaking, but as I sat down to create, I found that I just could not do justice to them! I decided on this layout as it was quite simple and allowed most of the background to show through the die shapes. I cut two Floral Oval dies, using a simple oval to cut the centre out. I crisscrossed them for interest and mounted them with foam on the background. I stamped my sentiment and embossed it with silver powder, then cut it out with the ribbon banner die and mounted in the centre of my oval frames. I added a few black rhinestone swirls to the top and bottom corners and left it at that. I pierced the edges to form a frame. I truly love that the crafting community is such a sharing and giving place and Lindsay and her encaustic art treasures are a great example of this! Thanks Lindsay and Rosemarie!
On another note, it's Sunday and I know the list of winners will seem a bit sparse compared to last weeks never ending list, (which, by the way, we still have not had all of the winners check in to claim their prizes!), but here goes:

Morning Sue, a very different card, love the background of it. Love Jean x
Morning Sue,
Well! how different is this?
The background art is stunning, I feel we are really not seeing it at its best, not a thing that I do but I can appreciate the work in it. Love what you have done with the Die, must give this a go.
Have a Great Day
Patricia
Never had a go at this art Sue but love the results on this background. The card is stunning.x
Hi Sue It looks as though a lot of thought and work went into this card but not for me. I admire your creations and the way you experiment with different art forms.
Wilma
Hi Sue, the artwork is lovely but the card feels too dark for me. I do like the dies though. I wonder if lighter colours would have made a difference?
Hi Sue, I do admire ecaustic art, though got to admit it's not for me and I've never been tempted to dabble. The card is stunning, although it probably needs to be seen 'in the flesh' to do it justice, Carole Z X
stunning card sue i love background sue xxx
I think the background is great - I am so in awe of those who can create this type of artwork. And lovely to combine it with the ovals, I think these are my new favourite dies
Morning Sue, a very different look, All the best Zerena
Beautiful artwork, but not for me this time xx
Hi Sue,
wonderful card today. I've watched them demo this type of art on c and c and I find it very compelling to try. My husband would also like to have a go at it. Maybe one day, but at the moment my craft room has no more room for anything else to be stored in it. LOL. Have a great crafty day everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Morning Sue
Not my type of card but do see the beauty of it.
Have a great sunday everyone.
Sue
Hi Sue, sorry to have to say it, but for a bright Sunday morning this card is too dark and depressing for me. SORRY! Best wishes Lelsey x
beautiful background ,I've done a little bit of encaustic art .you've managed to make a lovely card without hiding the background
Sue
So happy to know that you are feeling better. This card is really different and very arty. Cheers
Happy Sunday Sue and everyone. I admire the talent of encaustic artists but sadly this one is not for me. Congratulations to today's winners. Hugs Christine H x
Good morning Sue another stunning card
Hugs x
Great card Sue and I was so supised that you had not used any ribbon Lol! The backgound is gorgeous so understand why you have made it such a feature of the card. Enjoy your Sunday x
Lovely card, great use of the background.
Clare x
amazing background! :) xxx
Hi Sue
I have never had the confidence to try encaustic art and this is truly stunning .
Maybe having seen how beautiful it can be I'll have a go.
I admire the amount of work that goes into encaaaustic art but I can't say I really like it. I, too, feel it is very dark but that could just be how it shows up on the photograph. It is certainly interesting to see other work Sue. Thanks for showing it to us. Christine
I like the background too and I love the oval dies but not in black on top of the background! But it's good to get of one's comfort zone and I know how difficult that can be!
Wow, work from two talented people coming together.
I have loads of pieces of encaustic artwork in my stash, thanks for showing a great way to use it.
Hi Sue, not my cup of tea, but I am fascinated by this artform. Well done Lindsey. Linda x
Congratulations to the artist. Unfortunately not to my taste. very dark.
Hello Sue
I find this art fascinating just a twist of the iron can produce such a lovely design..I love the Ovals so much...
LoveMarg
Hi Sue,
I'm with some of the others I find this a bit dark but in the flesh its probably a lot brighter. Not sure about this type of art would like to have a try but without going to the expense of buying the equipment.
But on another note I love what you have done with the dies, another on my wish list.
Have a good day and congratulations to the winners.
Lydia

Morning Sue just goes to show how different crafts can bind together as one ,Elaine H X
HI Sue,
I have seen caustic art on C&C and am amazed at the beautiful designs and pictures you can create with an iron! I'm sure the colours are a lot brighter in the flesh but has not come through on the computer. But a great concept.
Chris X
Hi To Lindsay if you are reading the comments I agree with Sue your encaustic art is stunning. There is a great use of colour & texture in this piece. Sue, you have done an incredible job of showcasing this art. Thankyou for sharing Lindsay's work with us. It really shows how well spellbinders mix with different craft forms. Congratulations to the winners. With Love & Light Theresa. H
Wow a very different and stunning card. The girl who did the background is very talented.Have never done any of this type of work and to be honest don't have either the time or the funds to try but maybe one day.
Thank you for showing another way to work however,
take care.x
Hi Sue
Wow what a fabulous background piece, truly one of a kind, it looks to me like a piece of luxurious fabric, draped with the light catching the folds. Thank you to the artist.
I think your choice of dies are the most suitable, to show off your skill and flair, and to show the lovely background.
many thanks for sharing, both of you.
Have a great day, I can't believe we are still enjoying glorious sunshine here in Belfast.
Lara xxx
Lovely card. Must get the iron & wax out and have another go.
morning sue
wow this is diffirent yet still lovely and i think the back ground is fab. joyce.e
I think you've done a lovely job with Lindsay's tremendous artwork. it's good to see different techniques mixed with spellbinders x
Hi Sue, this card is lovely, I keep seeing the Encaustic art shows, and the results are stunning, as in this background. I know one day I will try it. Congrats to the winners. Bx
Wow, this one is quite striking, I too love the background, how nice to work with such lovely cardstock.
striking
Morning Sue
That is a beautiful background and can never be repeated so the card is totally unique
Love how you have used the dies, very simply but you did need to show off that stunning artwork
Sue xxx
I think you have done justice to the background by keeping it simple. That encaustic art is beautiful....stunning card too.
hi sue
I have seen this card when you where on c/c and the colours showed off better. I love the ovel's waiting for them to come in stock sold out in most places.stunning card sue keep them coming.
carol xxx
This is very different and is a great example of how we can mix our other crafts.
Hi Sue, I love this card!! The background is stunning. The way you've positioned the dies show it off beautifully...Enjoy your day..xx
Morning Sue,
A very different card and I love the background, I wonder if a much lighter colour in the dies would show it off more, just a thought. Lovely card never the less.
Love Sue M xx
Love the background but as you say probably not seeing it at its best. I have tried this art form once and really enjoyed it. I will have another attempt some tiome soon as it's such a great sense of achievement when you've completed your "picture". Soniax
Hi Sue
very very different from your usual cards, but never the less still beautiful, and I'm sure that Lindsay will be over the moon with what you have created with her stunning artwork.
hugs
Sandra (craftynan)
Hi Sue - not really sure about this one. I love encaustic art & have often thought about trying it myself, however, I'm not sure it works with this - it might just be my computer not doing it justice!
Hi Sue,
This background looks almost like material to me,it is so effective. A very nice card.
love from Jackie D
Stunning Sue, that background is amazing love how you've let most of the background show through xx hazel
Morning Sue, Thank you so much for showing this, Lindsey is over the moon. Has come at a good time.
Love Rosemarie xx
what a talented young lady she is that background is stunning and the spellbinders that you have used just compliment it so well, a beautiful card again xx gail
Hi Sue, The background is stunning. It looks like folds of beautiful silk fabrics. You chose well with your dies, leaving the background for us to adminre. Hugs, Carol S.xx
I like this as the spellbinders just add a finishing touch to a wonderful background. I think this would make a great male card as the encaustic art would get them thinking 'how was that done'. Love it.
Emma
WOW this is soooooooo gorgeous and makes the card really stand out, and I just love the colors too. All looks soooooo amazing together, just perfect.
The background is so interesting!
Great card.
Hi Sue,
I think you have made a great job of bringing out the sumptuousness of the artwork. I can see it (without the sentiment) as a double page spread in a glossy magazine, advertising something very desirable and no doubt fabulously expensive!
Have a good day. Hope your weather is as lovely as ours is here,
Sue x
Hi Sue, as you said what a talented lady with the encaustic art, a friend and I tried it after watching a video to see how to do it, and when Sandra (my friend) tried it for the first time her face was a picture as it just looked like a sea of mud, we laughed so much it hurt. We did persevere though and eventually got a few pieces we could use for backgrounds, but nowhere close to the one you have used. It looks totally stunning and as you said looks better for not having too much embellishment to it. As Cornish Emma said above it would make a great card for a man, but most women would love it too!
Good morning Sue, I do like the encaustic art, and when I have seen it done it is really impressive, I have to say that today's card though is not my favourite I think it's the colours, they don't do alot for me. Love Linda xxx
Hi Sue
I'm a very arty person i paint and decorate to a very high standard (as peeps tell me) and there's not a lot i can't do in card making BUT Encaustic art I'd love to. I've tried but no it just doesn't go right so i just watch it on cc and groan LOL!
Now the card is lovely maybe I'd try white, grey or very pale lilac to brighten it but thats my taste
Thank you
Lizzie (serial copycat)xoxox
Another gorgeous creation. xxxx
Hello Sue, An anazing card, Lindsay if you are reading this you are one talented lady. The background is so rich and luxurious, it reminds me of silk and love the colours. The dies and layout compliment it to perfection, great work by two awesome crafters.
Congrats to the winners.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs June xx
Hi Sue,
What a stunning card, the background really does do it all. Just love it.
Best Wishes
Beverley W
What a beautiful card Sue, truly elegant. Dee x
Hi Sue - I can see silk and denim in this card!!!! I like the fact that you have left the background as it is and not used too many embellishments on top. I also do encaustic art and have to admit it is very difficult to use with other crafts because of its stand alone beauty (if you see what I mean). I think this would look even nicer in daylight as the colours would stand out more.
A lovely idea for a totally different sort of card.
Hugs Sue Pass xx
colours and background are stunning Sue. Beautiful centre piece you have created
Fantastic card love the background and the clever centre piece.
Hugs Annx
Hi Sue,
Great card, the background is stunning and I would have to agree that it would be a crime to hide it.
Best wishes

This is a lovely card and the encaustic art background is really stunning. Thanks.xxx
Morning Sue, What an amazing background piece to start the thought process going. Lindsay is very talented.
The wondeful way that you have done less for more is brilliant.

What a great idea - I never thought of using my encaustic 'works' as backgrounds! The card you've made with the beautiful artwork is lovely and truly generic! Well done artist and cardmaker!
Su (Soop)x
Very different, I once tried this and it looked very poor in comparison, and just for good luck I burnt my fingers! You really have done it proud.
Enjoy your day
Margaret
Stunning card Sue -you've done a brilliant job with that incredible background. Congrats to the winners of this week's draw. Pat x
Hi sue,
I just love this card. The colours are amazing and the simple nestie design just fits right in.
I leaned encaustic art several years ago (I'm no where near as talented as Lyndsey of course, merely an amateur);but it's what led me to card making.
I have never thought of combining encaustic with other crafts. Once again your creativity and ability to 'think outside the box' shines through. Let's hope a little rubs off on me'
Hugs Erica.
Very different card from the usual but must say I prefer your usual style. This one is not for me-sorry!
Sorry not sure about this one Sue - prefer your usual cards.
I've never tried encaustic art but have seen it demonstrated and it seems a very clever thing to do.
Hi Sue
Wow the background on this card is truly stunning.
This card needed very little and I think you got the balance right.
Love it
Ria
Lindsey is a very clever artist to say the least, but as I am a blingy bow sort of girl I am missing that on this card. sorry.
Hi Sue,
I love this card,What a future talent we have in our hands.I wish her all the best in what every she decides to do.(hopefully craft)

Hello Sue The background is stunning on this card i have never tried ecaustic art and probably never will but very clever.Lynda
Oh I dont know Sue I think you have done the background justice by keeping the die cutting simple and elegant the background takes centre stage... I am in awe of encaustic artists, they are so talented..... happy memorial day weekend..... hope you;re haveing a good time, we are sweltering here in the UK!!!
Hey Sue
This is a stunning card, you have done well to keep most of the background visable as it is gorgeous. I love encaustic art, the artists are very talented and inspirational, much like yourself.
I bet Lindsay is pleased to see her work showcased in such a way.
Hope you are having a good day today.
Much Love

Another stunning card Sue! I have never tried this craft but it does look lovely.
Still enjoying the heatwave up here in Scotland, its far too warm to do any housework so just relaxing in the shade!!!
Fabulous card, the Encaustic background is cool. I have recently started having a go at this medium, I hadn't thought of using it in this way, thank you Sue, Lindsay and Rosmarie for the idea xx
Gorgeous Sue, I know its simple but the background is stunning, the colours are beautiful, what a talent lady, than you Helen O xxx
Hi Sue what a beautiful card, Lindsay's art work is stunning and you have given it a focal frame. I love when cards have all different mediums on them.
Well done to both of you for something that is truly original.

Great work and something different. love it!
Hi Sue
This card is fabulous
I'd love to see this in person. I've seen other encaustic art pieces and they HAVE to be viewed in person to get the full effect. Whoever gets this card will be one very delighted individual. I really like the darker background. I'm sure the silver really brightens it up. I'm in awe of Lindsay's talent.
I love encaustic art. It looks quite simple to do but I think it has to be more complicated than it looks. I love this piece that you have featured Sue. Very different.
Sarah x
This card is definitely 'different'. I've seen demo's of encaustic art and the background pieces it produced were brilliant.
Thanks for showing us another lovely card.

I have seen the encaustic art demonstrated, but haven't had a go myself. It makes such a lovely effect.

This is great Sue, I was looking online at other encaustic art creations and it is AMAZING what can be done, I would never have guessed how they were done x
Sue It is still a fantastic card even though it didn't photograph well but you can still see just how talented Lindsey is, you are lucky to get given such beautiful freebies. Hugs X
NICE CARD SUE
Love this background Sue and your die-cuts have really added to the whole project. Hugs, Buttons x
Beautiful Sue. The background looks stunning - it seems to shimmer. And the frames just sit so perfectly and I think they both compliment each other beautifully.
