Just Be Happy

Morning all!  Hope you are in the mood for some lavender and black today!  I stamped my sentiment in black on my pale lavender card first off.  For the rest of the background, I inked the negative side of my Heart embossibility with Milled Lavender distress ink then I lined up my card and embossed the first part of it.  Since I wanted to do a piece that was larger than my folder, I had to do another section.  Now the tricky part here is that the heart folder does not have a perfect repeating pattern to it, it is more of a freeform pattern.  That didn't stop me, but I did have to plan my card around that.  What I did was to ink up the same half of my embossing folder again and using a tissue, wipe away the ink that was on the lip of the edge of the pattern.  That way, the ink wouldn't leave a straight line mark across my background.  I lined up the end of the first embossed pattern with the beginning of the next area I wanted to emboss and put the folder back through the machine to finish the background.  I planned my focal element to reach across the area where the pattern met but did not match up so that your eye wasn't drawn to it.  I did this by using the Floral Oval die horizontally.   A top the oval, I cut the largest size of the Angle Approach using dual colour coordinations card.  One side was black and the other side was purple.  I folded back the piece to reveal the purple side and tucked them under the flaps to hold them in place.  When I got to the centre of the die, I folded all the small cut pieces down and glued them revealing more of the purple side.  I added some Cosmic Shimmer black PVA glue dots to the sides of the folded flaps and to the space left in the centre from the folded pieces.  You can see the close up of this below.  I tied a double bow from black silky crush ribbon (cut two pieces about 18" to 20" and tie them as one piece like you are tying your showlaces.  Spread the loops apart once you have gotten them the size you want by pulling and tightening the bow.  Cut the ends as desired) and a couple of decorative hat pins and a fancy button.  I pierced around the edges to complete the card.  Finished size is about 6" x 8".
I am keeping my fingers crossed that all the posts go off as scheduled while I am at sea.  I probably won't be able to answer emails until late Tuesday either so please be patient.  I don't know what the internet situation will be like while sailing.  If at all able, I will try to keep up with them while away.
 All for now, Sue x

  7. Good morning Sue, gorgeous card I love the lavender colouring. Still waiting for my dies to arrive, although I don't think I have this particular one as I didn't want to double up with Moroccan set, but I guess it will work equally with any of the CFT dies. Do you know if they will bring out any border CFT dies in the future? Have a great cruise, best wishes Lesley x

  166. Hi Sue, you can't go wrong with Lavender as I am concerned as it is my all time favourite colour. Your card is so GORGEOUS. I have not been commenting due to me being in Spain for the winter but now I am home I can peruse your blog in my own time.
I caught a few of your POTW shows, loved the one you did with Dean on Wednesday afternoon. You are so professional and watching Dean remove the sticky paper from the die made me laugh along with you both. Hope you are having a super cruise, wish I was there with you.
Looking forward to seeing more creations from the latest cut & tuck dies.
    Hugs
    Christine xx

  170. Hi Sue, Fabulous card. Love the colour combo & the embossing looks amazing. Great tip about removing ink with tissue to prevent darkening. Hope you are enjoying the cruise. With Love & Light Theresa. H
