Sew Thankful

Hi guys,  how's this for a really sweet and quick sewing card?  The background was embossed with the So Trendy embossibility folder.  I cut a border using the new edgeability insert with the scalloped cutting edge.  I dyed some white American seam binding using tumbled glass and crushed olive distress inks.  I did this twice to get the colour a bit darker.  You need to dry it completely then use more ink swiped on to your craft mat and spritzed with water.  I wanted a shabby chic look to the ribbon and bow so I scrunched it as I dried it to achieve this.  I cut a dressform and a pin cushion and a sewing machine using the  Nina Brackett sewing element dies.  I inked through the die to bring out the details on the dressform and the pin cushion.  The sewing machine was the leftover piece from another card I made where I used the negative piece.  I stamped my sentiment on a tag and inked the edges.  I attached a button with some Bakers Twine to it and added it to my bow.  I added some pearly swirlies and paper pierced the edge to complete the card.  Are these dies growing on you too?  All for now, Sue x

  1. Lovely card, I've still haven't had time to play with my set of these dies, but hopefully may have time tonight or over the weekend.
How do you manage to use the embossing folder on a larger piece of card I always struggle with that? Do you have a tutorial somewhere I took watch?

wonderful card. The sewing elements are great. Haven't used mine yet. But had a great idea from one of your earlier sewing cards. I haven't got a measure tape stamp so I photo copied a measure tape. It looks really nice.

  22. My eyes went immediately to the edgeability and the dyed seam binding. I have lots of that from all the sewing I used to do and have used it and hem tape (king of lacy) on several cards. Everyone always asks where I got it and if it was expensive. They may be the least expensive "additives" I've ever used. That's always a plus. I'm loving the sewing series!

  54. Hi Sue. Love the way you have used the sewing dies. However, as a new card crafter who is just starting to collect Spellbinders, they would not be on the top of my wish list as they would have the least use. 88. Hi Sue,
I have just been back to read everyones comments from yesterday and for some reason my comment for that card and, after checking, also the day before are not showing up. Please, please can you check to see if they came through your end. Yesterdays was about 'Easter Parade' if it helps you differentiate. I hope I didn't mess up, I did do them very, very late last night before bed.
Anyway dear friend, I love the colour change here today. The gorgeous misty jade with limey green is stunning and so refreshing (don't care if they are different in real life, I love my laptop version!). Such a different card, simple and fun with a lot of punch. Lovely to see the playful cards back in your repetoire; I love your capacity for change it keeps us ever glued to your creations.
It was lovely here with us till now, it's just started to empty down!! The kids in the cul-de-sac are screeching as they run indoors, it's so funny...lol!
Hope you have a great day.
    Big hugs Linda x

Ps For anyone interested I have posted a tutorial today on my blog (www.creativeharmony.blogspot.co.uk) for my 'Decorative Fancy Pins' including links to places to buy the components; including Sam Poole's shop where you can buy the pins Sue uses too (Don't forget you can dress those up a bit too if you want to. 140. I love this card, Sue. The blue and green hues look really fresh next to the white background. Great layout too. Thanks for your super inspiration.

I'm saving my dies so that I have time to play as this month is just too hectic with my best friend's wedding, an office move and the local elections. Although, techincally the election is in May. If only there were more hours in the day!

    Happy crafting,
    Rachel x
