Angle Approach

Good morning blog friends!  Day two of the POTW shows for me.  It's an early start this morning so this post should be popping up just as I am leaving the house heading for the studio.  I have decided to show one of the cut, fold, tuck samples that I made today.  I love these colours and, although I grabbed a sentiment from one of the sets on the show, you could easily go in any direction with this one.  It's masculine, but feminine too I think.  You decide.  First off I covered my background with the sticky adhesive sheet.  I used the Angle Approach die to cut an aperture in it.  I peeled off my backing paper and poured clear micro beads over it.  I just love the look of these and it is difficult to get the real feel for these in the photos, you just have to try them!  With the positive piece, I beaded it too, but I folded it backwards so that just a sliver of the decorative paper with the beading showed.  I mounted it below my background piece and offset it so the shape did not fit back in the hole the way it came out.  I cut another smaller one of the cut, fold tuck dies to go on top and still a smaller one to go on top of that.  So I layered up three of them in different sizes and shapes to create my focal element.   I used another decorative backing paper for the bottom of the card.  I stamped a few of the stamps from the Design Element set using a clear perfect medium and clear embossed them.  Again, it doesn't show up too well in the picture, but it adds just a nice texture to the piece.  I used some teal vintage ribbon and made a messy bow and added a fancy button and crystal pins.  I used a few pieces of the black rhinestone swirls above and below my focal element.  I finished the card with Cosmic Shimmer black PVA glue dots around the edge to frame it and add accents.  All for now, Sue x

  1. This is a very strong looking card and I like it. it would make a great male card as you say or for a female that does not like "frillies". I watched your shows yesterday and managed to get the micro beads and pearl glues as well as the Floral Oval dies. Good luck with the rest of your shows, the stock is selling out fast

  16. Good morning Sue,, I am so happy that C T &F are the POW, I have been watching these dies for a little while but. Not really sure, now I am. Fantastic job on C&C but I wish they would shut up and let you do the demoing maybe you could do a Classroom like Barbara Grey I'm sure they would have a regular sell out at prices we can all afford rather than the hundreds needed for POTW, just my opinion. It was lovely to hear your Mom on her birthday, I hope she had a great day. Best wishes, Lesley x

  123. Hi Sue, The cards you make are beautiful. It is very interesting to see how you build up the cards and use all the different folders and dies together. Many of your cards have lovely flowers and ribbons and pins on them. Could I ask how do you suggest delivering these cards, will they go in an envelope or do they need a box or something. Thanks

  128. Great card Sue - can't afford the POW this time though.

I already have a few cut, fold, tuck dies which I received with my Double-Do XL machine I use for die cutting and embossing but as yet have not made a lot of use of them - although I did use the heart one recently on a wedding card which I still have to put on my blog, will email you a copy when I have time.

Another lovely card. I must admit I am not into the pinwheel dies, but a different topper would work too

Male or female? Probably both, but since men are so difficult (at least I think so)I would probably opt for male.

  136. Hi Sue,
I don't know if I am getting boring or I just like certain song! Today, all I can sing is a song that struck a chord with me before while perusing your daily creations.
'Like a circle in a spiral,
Like a wheel within a wheel.
    Never ending or beginning,
    On an ever spinning wheel......
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind'
I think the reason it popped into my head again was because I was thinking about the Tuck & Fold die. You can never tell where the person ended or began with the folding. Then, of course, the circles and windmills just started spinning around on the card and in my mind!! Oh boy I tell you, one strange cookie in this head of mine!....LOL!!
A truly unusual card and colour scheme, but it works and is a refreshing change. If you saw my blog recently you will notice I had a yearning for Teal so I had to make a bookmark in Teal and white to get me through until my next fix of the 'Sue Wilson Teal'!!
I have really been enjoying the shows and thank you so much for showing some of my pins too, how generous you are. It's funny but I look at the older ones I made and they seem so small now compared to the newer ones (but I still like them).
I have been reading the comments by the blogfriends here and agree with Iestim and Mabe, any chance for a Classroom with Sue or something similar?
Well I hope you have a wonderful weekend dear friend; don't let them work you too hard.
    Big Hugs Linda xx

  138. Another brilliant card, I love it all. versatility at its best. love micro beads, had a play made a tassel out of satin ribbon, used ranger matt medium on the ends and bits of lengths and dipped them in. when dry it looks like ice and makes a lovely rattling noise. x hugs

  139. Hi Sue,

Have been too busy to catch your POTW shows (so far) but have 'reserved' some time tomorrow!
Brilliant card today. Must admit I had to put on my extra-strength specs to make out that the background was actually micro beads! They're so fine it looks just like decorative paper. I'm VERY new to Spellbinders having only recently bought my GC - your amazing demos clinched it for me.

  148. I was the lucky person who won your card yesterday thank you for your wonderful Demo's. I wondered if there could be a vintage car die set. I know there is one ford one out there but wouldn't it be great if we had a whole set even buses and tractors this would sell. We don't have enough for mens cards.
    Regards Sue from Dee

  159. The die cuts are beautiful, but the really "wow factor" for me was the DP and teal ribbon!! ;-) They are gorgeous and anything would look good with them. The card is amazingly detailed and would be welcomed by either a male or female, I think. Nice, nice, nice!
