Hi guys! How is this one for different? From frilly to a grungey-ish distressed sewing card. One of the die sets that is on the shows are Sewing Elements by Nina Brackett. Sewing stuff is very popular at the moment and these have been so much fun to play with too. I got to pull out my stash of fun buttons for this one! My background paper was kraft card that was printed with a ruler background so I just had to use it! I did a bit of stamping behind it with some new sewing stamps that are on the show too. The ornate scissors are part of that set and I stamped and cut them out and mounted them up a bit. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the new Swatch label set. I used the thread die to cut it out and wrapped it with some twine. I added a piece of hessian across the background and a selection of matching buttons to create a sort of sewing collage piece. I finished it off with a big bow from one of my favourite new ribbons, our striped grosgrain. Not to have a naked bow, I topped it with a large black button and a piece of natural twine. I did distress all the edges of my card with my scissors, hopefully giving it a more vintage look (at least that was the plan!) Not my usual style, but I hope you like it! The shows start today at noon so I hope you will tune in to see the rest of the samples! All for now, Sue x
WOW. I wouldn't do something like this as it's not really me but not everything can nor should be. I love the colour the seemingly erratic higgledepiggledy placement of all the embellishments. I'd think that this took you some time to do but I've seen you on C&C so I'm not sure. Keep it up!!!

xx
A very different card today, but a beauty none the less. Good luck for today. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteLove the card and it's sent me right down memory lane as the ornate scissors are the sort that were in all little girl's sewing boxes when I was young and were the only kind I owned. Now they're vintage!
And I do wish I'd still got some of the hessian sacks my dog biscuits came in (by train!)to craft with, but in those days we stuffed them with hay to make comfy cushions for dog baskets and when they wore out they ended up in the compost heap.
Thanks for the memories!
Looking forward to watching the shows very much - not long now! Sue x
What a wonderful card Sue.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI really love your frilly, girlie cards but after seeing this card today and the others on the show I think you have a talent for more than you give yourself credit for. I especially love the blue card with the pin cushion, houndstooth BP and actual stitching, it is gorgeous (and the new camera guy did a good job of the close up didn't he!).
You had so many beautiful cards on the shows that I was in awe. You must have worked everyday of your break with mum to prepare them all, so I'd like to thank you very much from all your grateful followers. I know you have to do them as part of the job, but you always seem to go the extra mile in making them really special for us by giving us lots of variety of style and usage. The inspiration is astounding.
Enjoy the rest of the week.
Regards and best wishes Linda x

Evening Sue,
ReplyDeleteI have found your site at last I watch you every time you are on Create & Craft and now I will be able to get more inspiration from you on line. I have got both the Cuttlebug and recently purchased the Grand Calibure, I think these tools are the best thing since sliced bread. I know some people proffer the electronic cutting machines but I think there is nothing to beat designing your own designs and doing it yourself. I will be looking in on you daily, thanks for all your hard work.
Regards
Vanessa
