I Like Your Style

Good morning my friends!  I'm switching styles today to show you one of the new vintage dressform cards that I have done.  These will be featured on Create and Craft on March 24th in a show that Julia Watts is doing for Creative Expressions.  I made this card the last time I was at my Mom's but couldn't show it then as we hadn't released the stamps or the clear micro beads!  So much that I had to keep to myself then, but alas, no more!  Unfortunately we are out of stock on the micro beads but hope to have some more in stock in time for Ally Pally! Keeping our fingers crossed for them!  I used a lovely new embossing folder for this card.  It is called vintage dressform and it is made by Couture Creations, which is a line that we are now carrying.  I embossed it then went over the top lightly with some Tattered Rose distress ink to give it a hint of colour.  I distressed the edges of the card with my scissors and used a bit of Antique Linen around the edges. I stamped my sentiment in the upper corner.   I pierced the mat layer below it and background sorted!  I stamped my dressform using a black archival ink pad, placed a piece of our self adhesive sheet over it and cut the image out.  You can see through these sheets so it isn't too difficult to do.  I peeled back the liner and dipped it into my clear micro beads.  I mounted it up on some 3D foam pieces in the corner of my background.  You can see the micro beads nicely in the close up below.  I made a shabby chic bow using the vintage ribbon in raw silk colour and scrunched it up using a bit of a water spritz.  I added a button and two crystal stick pins and attached it to my card with glue dots.  I added a spray of swirly pearlies across the card for an accent and voila, I was done.  The entire card was done in a flash.  Great if you need one in a hurry! Don't forget to tune in to see what Julia does with these stamps on the 24th!  All for now, Sue x

  9. Love the stamp, the embossing folder, the whole effect is scrummy. A quick question for all bloggers - has anyone else been caught out when buying the large raspberry plate, I didn't know there were 2 sizes to choose from so ordered mine and when it arrived it was too big to go through my calibur( 8.5 x 12 ) . I was informed by the retailer that I could take off the white tray at the front of the machine and then the plate would go through. Can't see how to take off the white tray unless I take my precious machine apart, so at present I have M bossability folders I can't use. Any advice will be gratefully rec'd. Lol Lynne M

'morning Sue,aren't you good at keeping secrets? I bet you have a safe full of cards for us to admire. How to choose which one's to show first???
This is a clever folder, I like the corner section, at first I thought it was an "add on" then looked closer and it's part of the main.

  11. Stunning! I have this embossing folder and the stamps and have been having fun with them, but haven't tried using the pearls..must do that! The dress form is also great with feminine steam punk designs, Carole Z X

  13. Such a wonderful card here again Sue. You seems to just pop them up from the bare ground LOL. I love the embossingfolder and also the dressform is awesome. Just love this card, so simple is that.

  15. Hi Lynne M
My Grand Calibur had to o for repair after popping a sprocket and whilst it was gone the lady at my local shop lent me hers - took it home and hey presto my plates wouldn't go in - in my case simple I simply borrowed her plates as well. I tied to take off the white attachment (mine doesn't have this!) but it was lodged in far too tightly - hope you managed to get sorted - I've loved playing with the raspberry plate and folders.
Update... I have a new Grand Calibur as mine was unrepairable but they sent me a new one within in a week, very happy bunny! - Hope you get it sorted Lynne! Keep us updated! Sarah x

  17. Hi Sue,
I wouldn't have taken any notice of the embossing and stamp as they are not my style, but I really liked your card so will now add yet another item to my wish list! You are turning into the Delia of the craft world. You may not know her - she is a very famous English cook and everytime she appeared on TV the shops would have a run on the ingredients she used and would sell out!
Are you going to be at Ally Pally yourself? The first time I ever saw you was at A.P. with your Rubbernecker stall and you were doing great demos then!

I have the big Raspberry plate and it goes in my machine no problem. I have one of the very first GCs the white lead in plate at the front is different from the new ones. I think that maybe causing the problem.

  67. Hi Lynne, I know that they did an a4 size rasberry plate and a smaller one. Did not realise you could get one bigger still, what is the point of selling it if it is to big to go through the grand c. It must be very frustrating for you and I hope that you get it sorted out.

Morning Sue, love the card, very elegant and lovely if someone is in to dressmaking. I love the micro beads. Zerena

  142. Life must be so difficult at times for you Sue, desperately wanting to share 'good news' and haveing to keep quiet is sooooo hard.
This is a delightful card, I think the folder and stamp could be used for a serious card but also be able to have some fun.

Some advice now needed after having read the concerns over the raspberry plate from you bloggers. I've just bought my grand caliber and also the embossing folders, and held off for the plate until the large one was back in stock at C&C. What do I need?

  146. Hi Sue,
First I hope you are enjoying your stay and doing some fine things with mum while you have the chance.
Todays card is very different for you and yet it is you. I love the way you have mixed the hardness of the mechanical with the soft and virginal white on white (with a hint of pink). The image and your use of it emphasises well how Steampunk doesn't have to be dark and vintage or even mainly for men. It as easily can be softened, frilled up and frou-frou-ed to perfection (after all this mechanical tailors dummy has feathers!)
Your card actually 'takes the words right out of my mouth' I like your style!!! :)
I fancy cutting out this embossed dummy also (without the feather bits) and using for 3D (decoupage). Another fab way to stretch the use of embossing folders don't you think.
Thank you Julia for giving us the times of your shows, I am looking forward to seeing them.
    All the best Linda x
