A True Friend


Hi guys!  I just love working with Kraft card and out it came again for this card.  I like mixing different textures and putting things together that don't always look like they should go together.  The most fun about cardmaking for me is there really aren't any rules.  If you like it, if it works for you, if it makes you do the happy dance, then go for it! Here I have mixed felt flowers with ribbon flowers and paper flowers.  I mixed different patterns in cardstock  and used both ribbon and jute twine.  All the things I love to play with in fact.  I liked the result (I even did the happy dance) and didn't break any rules either (cuz there aren't any to break, remember!)  For the focal element, I used the Picot edge circles, labels fourteen and the beaded oval die templates. I inked the top two dies using tea dye distress ink while still in the die.   The paper and the felt flowers were created using the Spiral flower die template, while the ribbon flower was rolled using the cotton hemp ribbon.  I used a small border that was cut with an edgeability insert.  The entire piece was framed with black Pva glue dots.  I was really happy with it when I finished it and I hope you'll like it too. You will have to let me know!

    Amazing card - I just want to touch all the different textures. I like to round corners too and usually do them all but I love the way you sometimes do two only in different positions. I may have to use the "sincerest form of flattery" i.e. imitation! lol! Vee x

    I love text on cards, so this caught my eye straight away. Texture on cards is fab too, as you say, but then I stroke beautiful paper, never mind any more texture!

Answered yet another one of my questions of which -papers should go together, and u do it so well. Like the banner idea and using on my cards, very effective. The twine matches perfectly.     Lovely card again. Whenever I try this die to cut felt, it never seems to go all the way through no matter how many times I turn it. Oh well I'll have to keep practising.

    I hope you are having a good time whatever you're up to at the moment.
    I love todays card very much Sue. It is the sort of card I love to make myself: mixing papers, shapes and embellishments. I think I will have to email you a picture of my latest card to see if you think it worthy.
    I actually cased a card of yours the other day, (Teal, Parisian motifs/Nov 17). I did it using vintage B/W papers (from Hobbylobby in Florida, vintage red ribbon and handmade embellishments and I added stitching around the base paper. Everyone says it's one of my best, so many thanks to you for all your wonderful inspiration.

    really like this card, wondered whether you using more book text or is this just a decorated paper. I guess either is fine! I know C&C had blank kraft cards a while back and they sold out real quick, it is a popular look & think it works well with distress inks & stuff.
