Hi blog friends! Here is a simple card that I did with two different versions. I originally made the bottom card and wasn't happy with it as it felt unbalanced when I finished it. Since I wanted to use it as a demo card to show the lovely lacy circles doubled up to make it look like a doily edge, so I decided to re-do it. I put the heavier striped card on the background this time and I felt like it balanced out the heavy bling from the focal element. You decide which one works better! I cut the Labels 22 out of black glitter card and added the matching nestabling. Then I cut two of each size of the lacy circles, offset them and pushed the edges upwards a bit for a ruffly look. I used the Riveria Lilac Vintage Ribbon for my bow and added one of pre-made black organza flowers to the centre. All for now, Sue x
I love them both! I do think the top one looks more "balanced" but really I love the bottom one too :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. I do like both cards but do agree that the top one does appear to work slightly better. But fab cards as always.

I can't decide which one I like the most - maybe because they are both so elegant and lovely xx
ReplyDeleteLove them both Sue but the stripy background is better, just xx Jan
ReplyDeleteI like them both...I see what you mean in the top one appearing more balanced, but I DO love the bow on the bottom one! Carole Z xx
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I am the same here and feels the second one is a little better balanced to. But it really shows well how lttle it takes to change the look of something. I just love your bow, it just finish it all of.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the first one. More striking. Love, Julia xxx
ReplyDeleteI like both versions, but must admit to liking the second card best, the bold stripy background really sets off the front. Just love that colour bow.
ReplyDeleteBut both designs could be packaging for expensive chocolates!!!
Hugs Amanda x
Can't decide on which I like better as I like both of these card- leaning maybe more to the bottom one but very close. Excellent use of ribbons.
ReplyDeleteElaine
I kinda like both and cannot chose so I will vote for both (can I do that?) lol
ReplyDeleteHeather x
Both cards very dramatic but i like the first card most with the bold striped background paper Luv Sue x
ReplyDeleteHi Sue lovely cards yet again, just love the colours. I think I like the original best. I've just made a card for our daughter with an Egyptian theme and some of the grand dies. By the way did you know if you have not got a Tim Holtz ruler you can use the Fleur De Lis Accents long die, as it has holes in it. Lots of love Jenny L
ReplyDeleteI like both of them Sue.
ReplyDeleteI like the top card the best........although both are striking! Nicki xx
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful and I just love that dark blue ribbon! I think my favorite is the card on top 'cause having that white space on the middle and stripes on the back gives more space and it doesn't feel so tight.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Finland, Eemeli
Both are beautiful cards.
ReplyDeleteOh to be able to make cards that I am not "happy" with and have them look as good as this. Both beautiful and I couldn't choose.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards Sue I like the bottom one best as the stripes on the first one, for me, are too much - not really a stripes girl lol!

ReplyDeleteYes, maybe the second one is more balanced Sue but I like them both. Ann W
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI prefer the first version. I haven't read any other comments yet, so it will be interesting to see how the 'others' feel about it.
Elaine J xx
Hi Sue, I like the second one best, because I love the bow and with less stripes I think the eye is drawn to the sentiment more easily. Regards Anne x
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteI must admit I like both of these cards, but I would think that the second one for me is probably more balanced.

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, the 2nd is more balanced. Such a lovely card I think I will give it a go.Thank you for the wonderful inspiration :)
Sue H.
Its hard to choose but I think that the top one is the one I prefer. Karen x
ReplyDeleteI like your second idear the best like the bold strips
ReplyDeleteJane xx
Beautiful
ReplyDeleteSorry Sue, I am struggling for words here as I am giggling so much over Lee's (Craftyloops) comment. The thought of an ashtray on a motorbike - I love it!!
ReplyDeleteNow back to these delightful cards. I can't really prefer one over the other. Your first creation seems delicately feminine while the second is more soft masculine: reminding me of a banker manager's shirt and tie.
I have just rewatched your demo of the updated card on C&C (17th Nov) and realised that the updated card is in fact a visualisation of a Martin Parker ensemble. (I do so love his shirts.) Regards Linda
Love the colours on this card Sue and agree with your ocmments about balance, the stripes on the top card really makes it pop
ReplyDeleteTHESE ARE BOTH BEAUTIFUL HUNI XX
ReplyDeleteLove them both sue. I bought some of your foundations papers while ago and haven't used them yet, all i need now are some of your nestablings!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing sue.

ReplyDeleteHI Sue
ReplyDeleteLove this card my sister and i are busy making cards for friends and family . you have given us so much to think about.
love your work thanks joyce e
Both cards work really well, judging by other Bloggers comments you can please all of the people all of the time by taking one idea and reconfigering it.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card, there is not enough words to say how beautiful your cards are sue
ReplyDeleteBoth cards work. I really like the idea of pushing up the lacy circles. I'm going to try that one now. TFS! Mimi
ReplyDeleteMy preference is for the top one as I like the patterned paper to the back. Saying that I wouldn't say no to the other if it was offered as they are both gorgeous Sue x
ReplyDeleteBoth cards lovely as usual, but the top card does have the edge. The central piece looks better on the plain background with the dark stripes at the back.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes.
