Faux Stitched Aperture

Hi blog friends!  Ho ho ho is getting closer, are you all ready yet?  I'm not, but I have made some headway at least.  Christmas trees are decorated (yes, I do a big one and a small one). I love decorating the Christmas trees once I have untangled all the lights, what a chore!  I was thinking about all the different trees I have done over the years.  If I can find the pictures of them all, I will post them for you to see.  I think you will understand my need to craft when you see these! Enough waffling, on to the subject at hand, today's post.  I had this decorative paper leftover from the last time I was at my Mom's and I was looking for the right card to use it on.  I thought it would look really nice behind an aperture from one of the Grand Label dies.  I decided to use Grand Labels Eleven for the card.  Using a white inksentials pen from ranger, I did some faux stitching all the way around the edge of the aperture and the mat layer edges too.  I made two flowers using the Spiral blossoms one die. One flower was made from matching card and the other was made from black felt.  I like the different textures together as I think it adds more interest sometimes.  You can see the close up of the flowers below.

I stamped the sentiment all in one line by cutting it out of the rubber set and mounting it on my block as a single line (it was originally designed as two lines).  I cut the ends of the strip into a forked V and adhered it to the card in a diagonal fashion.  I also gave it a bit of shape with a little bit of mounting foam under a section of it to raise it up.  Finally, I used the Fancy Foliage dies to add several different styles of leaves for my flowers.  Definitely love my teal tones, I hope you aren't tiring of them!  All for now, Sue x

Look forward to seeing your tree pics...I love the decorating - every dec has a memory, some from childhood, some collected on our travels. It's a very traditional tree & I wouldn't have it any other way. I actually find the time putting it together both joyous and poignant, Love Carole Z x

  16. Another lovely card and I'm not tired of teal yet. I like the idea of using the Spellbinders to cut apertures like that, it's not something I have done, but must try. How do you get your faux stitching so even? I always seem to either have too much space left at the corners or not enough!
Would love to see pictures of your trees, I'm sure they are amazing.

  48. Good afternoon Sue and blog friends.
I, also, am not ready for Christmas, I only managed to put my Christmas tree up yesterday! I am so far behind in fact, (due to unforeseen circumstances), that I haven't even made a single card.
Sue if you are able to find some photos to show us of your trees that would be wonderful. I believe the tree is the centrepiece of Christmas and there is nothing more heart-warming when you enter the home, than the glow of a beautifully lit tree.
As to todays card Sue, its another stunner. It ranks alongside Parisian in Teal, Navy n Cream (March 28), All That Glitters, Vintage Steampunk and Taupe and Blue; to name but a few! I think my top 10 would have to be a top 50 (or more) because they would all vie for top positioning.
Have a good weekend all. Regards Linda
ps Its voting time at www.origincraftawards.com and I know who I will be voting 'Card designer of the Year' and 'Celebrity Crafter of the Year' How bout you guys? Sorry Sue don't want to embarass you mentioning this, but we do all respect you and your work. x

  72. I am a big fan of split top wheat breads and I regularly purchase and consume several different brands of this type of bread. Basement dehumidifiers are an excellent way to lower the humidity amounts in your house prompted by moisture in the air. The Vita-Mix 5200 (now promoting) is very sturdy and quiet, giving one a sense of security understanding its not going to wobble all previously along with the motor will last.
